While staying at a local air bnb - we didn't love the coffee provided and saw someone post about Cafe Oro Verde having some of the best coffee. We took a chance and wow! It is delicious. Visited with the owners while we waited for him to grind the beans - he's been roasting since the 1980s having learned from a gentleman from Italy while he was living in Seattle. The ground coffee has the most beautiful aroma. I'm now looking forward to my morning coffee while in PV and will likely go get more to take home with me. read more

OK I'm a super fan of this coffee shop. The owners a fantastic gentleman who has lived all over the United States. Ironically enough he lived in San Francisco where I lived for a bit and he also lived up in Everett Washington. He opened a Pastelería in Everett 30 years ago. What are the odds. I just love cofee because I always look up the best coffee shop when I visit in an area. The best part is I didn't have to look any further because I knew I found it. And this one came up as the highest rated. And they weren't wrong. I ordered a latte with some oatmilk. Oh my gosh it was just fantastic. Of course I got some coffee to go. He charges about 360 a kilo which is almost 2.2 pounds in American. Ground it up on the spot and I made it at home in my generic little coffee maker and it tasted just as good as the coffee shop. That's rare. He's been here for many many years and he's worth a visit. I imagine you'll have just as lovely of a conversation with Him as I did. And you'll love the coffee even more. FINALLY!!! I can't tell you how hard it is to find decent coffee beans in PV. I am a coffee snob. I've tried all the shops people have recommended to me... and frankly they have all been awful. I only buy beans from local roasters and finally I found great beans here (Whew I don't have to move). They really understand the roasting process and their dark beans are not all oily (a sign they are burnt... in case you are wondering as the oil explodes from the bean... yeah I'm into coffee), So many other beans here are just burned up and taste really bitter. They roast all the time so the beans are fresh and will even do blends for you. I did and 80/20 blend of dark and light and it's great in my cappuccinos I make at home daily. If you are a coffee snob like me... go now.... get beans... make great coffee. It's that simple. Well done Cafe Ore Verde! read more

Coffee lovers, please do yourself a favor and come here for the best coffee you'll have in Puerto Vallarta. My biggest regret is not discovering this gem sooner. Cafe Oro Verde is definitely worth going out of your way for. The owner is incredibly nice and knowledgeable about coffee and he roasts in-house! In fact, you can see the roaster in the back of the cafe. Despite the pandemic, the drinks are priced very reasonably, especially for the quality of coffee you get! (Ugh, I'm still beating myself up for not discovering this place sooner...otherwise I would've visited every day that its open!) The hours might not be updated on Google, but it is currently operating MWF from 10am-1pm. Wenceslao (the owner) and his partner Julie roast the beans fresh every day that they're open. Oh what a difference it makes in coffee! I ordered a large latte with almond milk (40 pesos total! Yes please!!) It was so delicious. It was made with the medium roast which I really enjoyed. It has smooth chocolatey notes. During normal times, I think you can sit inside this small cafe and enjoy your coffee as you watch people walk by. It looks like a great spot for people watching haha. I got ¼ kilo of light coffee beans and a ¼ kilo of medium coffee beans (which is about a pound total) for 125 pesos. Again, extremely reasonable prices for freshly roasted coffee beans. I can't wait to come back and visit again--next time with friends and family. If it's any local business to support, it's this one! Truly, Cafe Oro Verde is not a place you want to miss out on. I highly recommend going out of your way to grab a cup of coffee and chat with Wenceslao if you get the chance. My heart is so full! read more

Best coffee in all of Puerto Vallarta. A true testimony to the coffee culture where you can get a fresh cup that was made from roasted beans no older a few days (roasted on site) and best part is Cafe Oro Verde sources all their green beans from local farmers in the area. Its great to have a cup and a chat with Wenceslao (owner/roaster/coffee officianado) Its a short 5-10 min walk from the usual hotels I stay at in PV. I try to get over almost every morning and bring a few pounds of freshly roasted beans home every time we visit. read more

The coffee was amazing, both the beans and my espresso. Just what I needed in an area where the norm is coffee in a can. The hole in the wall atmosphere was charming and I felt so lucky I'd tagged it as a destination before I came to PV. But the most charming about the place was the owner, Wenceslao, a guy who's been roasting for 35 odd years, and with a cornucopia of life stories, from the Beatnik days in San Francisco, meeting Abby Hoffman who was on the run from the CIA in Salyulita, fandango parties that lasted for nights on end, learning to play jarana jarocha guitar and holding a range of cultural events at his last shop. Bring it back, Wenceslao! Make your shop into another cultural center! I was having so much fun, I stuck around for two hours chatting and getting buzzed off the coffee.
