Walked in to eat there was a lady by the door at the register but a leaving customer told me im suppose to seat myself so i dont really know what the lady at the fronts job is. Then after seating myself i waited over 10 minutes for service and nothing happened, no water, no menu, no nothing. All the workers walking by made eye contact with me and still did nothing. If youre too incompetent to know that someone in your restaurant needs service then you shouldn't be working in one in the first place:) read more

I'm all for supporting local businesses, and I realize that a local business sometimes has to receive a lot of indulgence, when it is basically the only dining game in town. Such indulgence stops at the Yelp review, however. I have to be honest for other Yelpers to see---whether good, bad or ugly. We arrived just before they opened for a weekday lunch. Folks were lined up outside waiting for the doors to unlock. Like I said, there aren't many options in this community. We took our seats. The table had clearly not been wiped down since the last customer of the previous day. The overall dining area seemed reasonably clean however. Our waitress took our orders (party of two, couple of sandwiches, pretty straightforward), departed, then returned shortly to verify what my lunch date had ordered. The sandwiches came out. I ordered the club sandwich. Their version of that item is basically a grilled ham and cheese with a LOT of mayonnaise. No lettuce, tomato, bacon or any of the ingredients you might expect on a club sandwich. My lunch date's turkey sandwich looked more like a club sandwich than did my order. I asked the waitress to bring out a bottle of Tabasco sauce. She finally did, just as I was finishing the sandwich. She was apologetic, but come on. I won't return here. read more

Great local spot for lunch. The ladies upfront are very nice and helpful with the menu. Came to Oakdale to work and found a nice spot to grab a great salad, daily, lunch specials, delicious shrimp, and delectable cupcakes right by the register. When in Oakdale definitely check it out. read more

Food always good and love the owners. The homeade croutons in the fried chicken salad are awesome.

Quaint place......popular place in the small town.....pork chop lunch special......both ordered it......both sent back as pork was undercooked.....might be good but when you serve undercooked pork, I'm not going back..... read more

Wanted to support small business. Burger was not good. Sweet tea was delicious but that was about it

Came to Cafe on 10th while in Oakdale, LA and I have nothing but incredible things to say about this GEM! Food is excellent, atmosphere is awesome but the people are EVEN BETTER! At 11:50 am on February 2,2023. after waiting 15 minutes a waitress showed up to get our drink order which she gets t one wrong. Then once food order was placed good 23 minutes for them the pour a bowl of gumbo, fix a side salad, and a plate lunch special. We did notice priority service to locals!!! With 4 waitresses the cook was still helping with drink orders etc.. Our waitress forgot half of our order had to remind her. Food was good and with better management COULD be a great place to go for Lunch. You shou be able to walk in , order, eat, and be out within 30 minutes! Ain't happening here at least an hour tops. Management needs to be vamped!!!! read more

An absolutely wonderful dining experience! Simply amazing food and the hot spot for lunch in Oakdale, La. The owner/chef also owns a catering business and does absolutely amazing work! I recommend the mini meat pies as an appetizer. read more

Such a cute little place! The chicken strips, hamburger and fried shrimp were amazing! Home made sauces and the service was phenomenal. We stumbled across on a road trip through town and our party of 10 was served quickly and had a great experience! Highly recommend! read more

Traveling from Houston and took a chance, GLAD we did. Comfort food priced very reasonably. We had Chicken and Sausage Gumbo, Salad and Chicken Salad Sandwich. Great little cafe, worth the stop. read more

Food was ok. Not many choices in Oakdale. Got food to go and didn't get what I paid for. Paid for full salads and got half.

We were travelling through town and stopped in for takeout lunches we could have in our trailer. They had just closed, but saw us looking in, and opened back up for us. The daughter of the owner works the front and she is so sweet. Took our order, which was made quickly. We got to chat with her and other patrons while waiting. She also threw in some muffins and cookies for us to have. We got chicken salad and club sandwiches. They were good! read more

I am torn with my rating about this place. I've been several times now. The door to the establishment makes it obvious they cater, but it's not completely obvious that they are a restaurant that serves lunch. First, the plus: Best onion rings I've had in ages. A good burger, which seems to have hand-formed patties and fresh ingredients. Fresh and interesting salads. You can get the salads with chicken or shrimp as well, grilled or fried. Next, the rest: Their hours are spotty. At least once I've gone by and the door just said CLOSED when it should have been open. At least one more time that I know of, they decided at 12:30 that they were done serving for the day (their posted hours say they close at 1:00 p.m.) and they turned away the diners who walked in at 12:30. Their soups are supposedly homemade, but I'm not convinced they are fresh. At least twice, they have served potato soup that was not hot enough and had to be sent back to be reheated. The fried pork chop I tried a large portion of bone right in the middle of it. It was served with canned green beans... which were severely over peppered. I am not a huge fan of canned veggies to begin with, and the pepper made it harder to eat. The mashed potatoes were definitely not from scratch. Their chicken salad sandwich is underwhelming... seriously not very good. Really, the sandwiches are overpriced. I'd stick to the burgers if I were torn between the two. Summary: It's a nice place overall, especially in a town which is severely lacking in restaurant choices. However, I'm not sure their heart is in it, and I suspect their real passion is catering, given as how they don't seem to be committed to the lunch hour service on a daily routine basis. I wish them the best, but I also wish they would put some more into the restaurant idea if they're going to serve meals in a restaurant as well as in the catering. read more

Great food and atmosphere. Tasty and fresh. We have enjoyed lunch here many times. Service was friendly. Bread tasted fresh baked.

I went for lunch and it's the cutest little cafe. The food was delicious and the waitresses were friendly. I had the chicken tenders, and they come with a homemade sauce that Is wonderful. I only waited about ten minutes for food, and it was packed, so they're quite quick. The prices are affordable too read more

Omg. Delicious. Must go. Homemade bread was too die. Make all the salad dressings themselves. Loaded baked potato soup yum. They also cater. Great food in a small town, open only monday to friday. read more

I have never been disappointed by the food. In fact, I have used their catering options multiple times as well, and my guests were always thoroughly impressed. Yes the hours are short, but I am relieved because I probably wouldn't be able to fit through the door if the establishment was open eight hours per day. read more
