Love this mom and pop sandwich shop!!! They sell tortas, Mexican pastries, frappes, smoothies, green juices, raspados, ice cream, street snacks (like tostilocos), grilled sandwiches, specialty coffee, aguas frescas and their staple Oaxacan frappes (not sure why they're called this if they don't use Oaxacan chocolate but I digress). I can only comment on the tortas and green juices and I absolutely love them both. I like their tortas so much that I ordered them for a big work event and the business came through!!! I only gave 24 hours notice and she took a small $20 deposit and delivered all the tortas to my office down the street without an extra charge. My favorite tortas are the turkey breast and milanesa (breaded steak) both great. As for the juices I love the vampiro or vampire (beet) fresh pressed juice. It's also enormous probably comparable to the size of the big gulp at 7/11. I know I'll be a loyal customer as I work down the street and have always received great customer service and delicious food!!!

Walked 10 blocks to get here from my AirBnb in 'da Hood...so worth it! Small, intimate, and DELICIOUS. Welcoming and friendly, the women at counter made me feel as if I lived in the neighborhood. (Her English owned my stumbling Spanish.) The menu has plenty of vegetarian options and lots of fresh juice choices. I got: Quesillo torta (round sandwich) w/ avocado and an iced coffee. $10. It was plenty and perfect. Cafe Oaxaca is a tiny oasis of good flavors and feelings. A must-do in the neighborhood.

I have continued to come here for the past few months, almost on a daily basis. What started as a morning juice stop has become my lunch and evening snack spot. Sometimes my boyfriend and I sidetrack and come by during the weekend. Co-workers have started visiting this little spot of antojito heaven also. I've tried their tostilocos, raspado de coco and raspado de nuez, all very yummy. Today I tried a treat I haven't had in over 10 years, since moving back to the states from Tijuana, B.C and that is the duroloco. A Foot- sized square churro, topped with cueritos, repollo and a concoction blend of sour cream, lemon juice and salsa valentina, drizzled over the churro. Delicious!!!! This is my version of the duroloco, the stores version includes tomato and avocado. (I will have to try that next time.) So happy this family owned spot opened up here. Please stop by and support local business.

Found this hidden gem while working a few weeks in Watts. Quiet small shop with a few tables for dining in. The service from Vanessa was great. She helped me decide what to order, since it was my first time there. I had the torta de jamon and a strawberry, banana,and pineapple smoothie. Both were perfect. Fresh, and tasty ingredients. And I'll be back since they have tamarindo agua fresca. And would like to try the Milanesa torta. Just a few parking spots out front. Check it out. read more

Went for a walk this morning at our nearby park, and I saw that this place had good reviews, so I decided to check it out for myself! I ordered an iced coffee with vanilla flavor and a grilled turkey sandwich (wasn't really grilled) with all the veggies. The coffee was perfect is was so tasty and it had nice cinnamon flavor to it. The sandwich was so delicious that I wish I had ordered two just for myself! I was very impressed! There were a few things that I did not like.... for one the location is not great! It's across the street from a park in the hood and there are definitely some questionable people (on drugs) walking around. The other thing that kind of threw me off was that my sandwich wasn't actually grilled, all they did was toast the bread! But then again it was so delicious that I was able to look past that detail. lastly the location itself very small, all the table are for 2 people only. So don't go in big groups. Bottom line the food was delicious and I will be coming back. read more

Small place, the lady that was there didn't greet and was waiting for us to order... when we did we asked for an agua fresca of melón and she went to the back to prepare, she did it on the spot, I would think that is fresher and better but no! The agua fresca taste it so bad I'm guessing the fruit was outside because I could felt the warm tasting on my mouth even tho she did put ice on it but also not sugar... we also asked for ice cream cones because that's how they are in their menu , and we got cups . read more

They have really good food! They have restrooms available which is quite rare with small food joints (not many subways provides customers with restrooms), and i was able to charge my phone. Stop by and try their Hawaiian Torta ( Sandwhich), its the speciality!! read more

Definitely refreshing to see a place like this in the hood. Got a large juice pineapple-apple mix in a styrofoam cup for 5.45, not bad for the hood. The decor is nice inside and visually appealing. Would go back for sure if I'm in the area to get some fresh juice. Service was a tad bit slow, which is the reason for the 4 stars but overall I see them improving. Oh and the hot Cheetos don't mix well with all the other healthy options but I guess the gotta appeal to the neighborhood. read more

The first time I came here was for a bionico. The place is small but it is very clean and organized. The person who took my order was very nice and helpful. I was also with my little sister who wanted a smoothie and ice cream, so I bought that as well. I loved the bionico and the smoothie, however the the chocolate ice cream in our banana split was a bit dry. Overall I enjoyed the experience and their food. I tried the Oaxaca mocha crap and their Jamaica agua fresca, and both did not disappoint. The mocha frap was not overwhelmingly sweet, it had just the right amount of sweetness, and chocolate bitterness that you would expect a good drink to have. The mocha sauce on the side was a good bonus. The agua fresca wAs complimentary because I checked in on Yelp and despite being complimentary, it was really good. It was not watered down and not too sweet. The customer service was great. The inside was really tight, but not a big deal. The mangoneada another customer had looked delicious but I guess I'll save that for next time. Definitely coming back. read more

Whenever there's a green drink anywhere it's my respite to enjoy something good for my body. Give my system rest with all the steaks that I'm ingesting that's clogging up my arteries. I'm enjoying my jugo Verde with spinach celery green apples and maybe a hint of fennel. It does a body good and so I think it does. They have sandwiches snacks and smoothies. I'm sure their coffee is good with quite a selection. The place is small with ample parking. It is not the best location being in South Central but the police station is a block away. Yes I used my little Spanish to converse and we understood just fine. They had a staff of two young ladies. Been looking for a place like this where I've been living for awhile now. First off. Staff is beautiful and friendly. Gave me some free coffee and I got a smoothie with fruit and ice.. didn't even try it yet. I know it'll be on point.. I'll be coming here a lot more. Cute family owned corner cafe across from Athens park. Quick service, good deals. I got the lunch special after hrs and it was delicious, came with avocado and everything, but the bread was that fake whole wheat stuff. The cashier was cool, young, but lacking those social skills that make you feel welcome. read more

I had my whole day planned out with a list of events to attend but first I wanted to stop by Patria and grab some coffee to start my morning off. Located in a parking lot next to Wilson Park on Compton Blvd and Alameda Street you'll find this nice cut lawn in front of this small white building, Patria Coffee Roaster. Depending on your time of arrival, the parking lot can be full but it's cool cuz there's also street parking available. I was able to park in the lot. After walking in I was welcomed and greeted with positive energy from 2 young ladies who I forgot their names but we'll just call them "A" and "C" lol. A guy to my right was sitting next to the window working on his laptop. And two others against the wall sipping their coffees and doing whatever on their phones. A customer was at the register ordering while another customer walked in to stand in line behind me. I let her go in front of me while I took pics and recorded footage. I like the atmosphere and space a lot. It has a very nice decor. Artwork, pictures and murals with history displayed along the walls. Grab and cold drinks available for purchase. Nice music playing that wasn't too loud but just right to complement a chill coffee shop vibe. "A" was friendly and patient as shared with her this was my first visit. As I browsed thru the coffee menu before making my selection I noticed more costumes coming in. I ordered a medium sized Americano which is $3.75 but I requested to add some hazelnut creamer as well as some almond milk which totaled out to $4.75 which was quite exceptional to me. Giving the location, the quality of service and the quality of the coffee. Not to mention to overall experience. I even thru in a $1 tip. I support the business and love the space. It feels welcoming and safe. The restroom was clean. They also have many different events held there. If you're ever in the area definitely pull up and check em' out. It's black owned as well. I actually ended up sitting there in the lot sipping my coffee while working on my video to post on social media. The coffee was good and tasteful. Didn't need any sugar. Nice place with a great view to the park. The menu is good and it has something for everyone. This place is right on the corner of Century and Central, right in front of the park. The food is good, mainly consisting of desserts, sandwiches, and natural drinks. My personal favorites are the queso Oaxaca tortas, smoothies, and fruit salads.
