Bright and cheerful coffee shop. My hot chocolate was so yummy that I was already making plans to come back :-D Masks are mandatory. They practise safe social distancing and health measures as well. The hours on Yelp aren't updated so check their website or call them before going.

I live very close to Cafe Milo so I am here quite often. It is always a good experience. The staff is very friendly and they have some really good drinks. You can also get a free refill if you get just a drip coffee which is nice if you plan on spending some time there. It is also a great place to go to get some work done as it is generally a pretty quiet atmosphere. Overall great coffee shop in west Ames, definitely recommend checking it out!

My boyfriend and I came for a late breakfast and coffees. We both ordered a breakfast bagel sandwich, very reasonable priced ($3.95). It tasted good, but nothing special. I would say it's equivalent to a bagel sandwich at Dunkin' Donuts. I got a hot vanilla latte and my boyfriend got an iced mocha, both okay. I enjoy supporting small businesses so would prefer coming here instead of a chain. However, I would be coming for the convenience (located a minute from my boyfriend's place) versus the love for their food/drinks. On another note, it seems like a great place to study for a student!

My daughter lives nearby and every time I come to cafe milo, I have a great experience. The staff is always friendly and helpful with recommendations. Today I had a breakfast bowl which was really yummy with fresh tomatoes and spinach added. Also had a cappuccino and later a cold brew which were both delicious. I like my coffee and rich and strong and that's what I got. Spent a couple hours working on my laptop. The barista helped me with the wifi password and the environment was very nice to sit and work. Bathroom was very clean too. Will return for sure whenever I come to visit!!

I typically come here for meetings and I thoroughly enjoy their honeynut latte. It's my special treat I get for myself maybe twice a month. It's a little pricey here but worth it. It gets relatively busy during the day with students but great place to have a meeting not very loud even for how busy it gets.

Well I wanted but entered through the stage. I sat outside in the shade and it was very comfortable and surprisingly not that noisy with traffic, much to my delight. Weather was great! I had lovely service and although I was dressed haphazardly as I only brought winter cloths in tights and a shirt I picked up at a secondhand store as, surprise, it's hitting the high 70's today ! I ordered tomato bisque and a side of French bread. I asked for balsamic oil and was met with blank stares from the young man and his trainee but he was good and quickly asked for an explanation of what it was and after my disbelief that an Italian place didn't have it, I was served a little bowl(without oil) of a balsamic reduction. Well, that was alright for me and waited for hue bread and soup while I eavesdropped and a watch the college kids walk by. The tomato bisque with bread, olive oil, a mountain of garlic and a balsamic reduction soon was served and I did not go away hungry!! Lovely place!

Disappointed to say the least, I came in the back door not realized there was a correct door and was rudely cut off by other patrons at the front desk. I had to wait several minutes to be waited on and the place had plenty of spots. Maybe because I was a party of 1... they didn't seem to care. After I shared what drink I wanted, I learned they were out... fine no problem. I asked about the Thai specials, the waitress was clueless. I had to ask for the restaurant week menu and ask about the specials. She said they looked good but couldn't describe them and hasn't tasted them. I got the salad on special, but get this... they were out of the main restaurant week special... such a let down. The ambiance was mixed, one corner was a cute date night the other corner was crying children. All dimly lit and outdated decor. The whole experience was off, I ended up leaving after my one drink and salad. I hope to give this place a second chance sometime but hope they aren't out of dishes and I can get a trained server. Maybe another night for sure!

The menu had a diversity of options with both bistro and full size options. We both settled on the Main St. chicken dish on recommendation from the waitress along with swapping the rice for mashed potatoes. Great suggestion. My conference mate asked to have her mushrooms removed and I asked to have the tomatoes removed. Although we both ordered the same meal, the presentation looked different for each of us and hit the spot for our tastebuds. Mine seemed more like a chicken marsala while hers was a tomato sauce. Either way we both enjoyed our meals. We both also had dessert - I had the delicious chocolate cake with raspberry sauce. Honestly there was too much sauce but the cake was still delicious! My conference mate had the peanut pie and it was divine - imagine a Reese cup with an Oreo crust. If I'm ever back in Ames this will definitely be on my return list!!

When she brought the check to them she made sure to take that off since he did not eat it and would not accept a replacement. They seem shocked at this, but I wondered why they just didn't get a replacement! Great service by that server. She was also our server and did a fantastic job with us. We had very tasty food and great drinks , so I would definitely recommend it and would go back if I was in the area.
