Fav items: - Sweet Pork Quesadilla with White Sauce (I don't think this is listed on the official menu but could be very wrong) - Sweet Pork Ensalada with just White Sauce (no Red) - Sweet Pork Quesolle You can't go wrong with their queso and chips but I've never been left hungry enough to actually need them. Staff is usually young so can be hit or miss on *bubbly* customer service. Portions seem to have gone down over the years, so those are my reasons to leave off a star. Love their sweet pork burritos. They would earn five stars except for the young women with the attitude. It's every time we come in, so it's not like she's having one bad day. She acts like it's an enormous bother for her to put together our order. And don't even ask her to repeat herself if you can't understand her rapid fire question behind the glass...whatkindofbeans?...lettucetomatopico? . Really great place for lunch or dinner, or if you're hungry early the breakfast burritos are pretty good too. Talk about good, fresh ingredients and it's clear these people are working hard to make the best experience possible. I work close by and go here every couple of weeks to feed the crave. If you were picking up your order, it's great but if you have delivery, please don't do it. They package it and leave a ton of things out delivery people don't know what you ordered. You spend a ton of money almost twice to have items missing and have the food taste plain. It is not worth it to have it delivered from this restaurant. read more

friday September 20th I was dining and saw nice running across the kitchen floor . communicated with an employee and mentioned that was the reason why they were closed on the 19th due to mice infestation found in the entire building. It's disgusting to know they still keep running & selling food with this issue. read more

Both orders were incorrect. One was supposed to be pinto beans and no rice, received the opposite. The other order was cheese and onion enchiladas, and received chicken enchiladas. read more

The people in there were super nice so I would give a five for customer service. It was my first time here and they were so sweet! They helped me order and even let me have a free queso to try. However, food wise if you like really bland and fake Mexican food, this is the place for you. I don't think I've ever had such unseasoned food, but that is OK if that is what you like. The food is sooo good but the service less than. I go in hoping to get what I order and 7/10 time it's messed up. They make it right in font of you so it shouldn't happen so often- that part is pretty disappointing. I'm not sure if it's hard to hear or they don't get paid enough to care but that sucks. read more

I have been going to Cafe Mex for years. Basically since they opened. But the past couple of years, the service has drastically went downhill. For example, the girl was so frantic even though it really wasn't that crazy. Not only did we get about 2/3 of the amount of protein that we usually get. She probably only threw on about a quarter cup of cheese on to our quesolles. And half the time the people are very rude and they do not care whether you're upset about your food or service at all. Their attitude just gets worse when you are frustrated. They don't ask why they just get rude. I guess today's college kids just don't care. read more

I have never had a bad meal here! Food is fabulous and fast to go. Prices are I guess fair. But over all good place to eat !

This is a decent place for lunch. The place is clean. Avoid 12:00-1:00 pm as it is packed with local high school sports teams and such. My biggest complaint is that the chicken is AMAZINGLY SALTY and that has happened several times. They are generous with portions and smiling service. read more

Wanted a smothered beef burrito with green chili; They filled it with rice and beans (did I say rice and beans - NO). Could hardly find the beef. Only a splash of green chili. If I want rice, I'll go to an Asian restaurant. Wife ordered one beef taco (that will be a 10 minute wait while we "Fry" it. Huh? After much confusion, got this dinky little taco with a spoonful of beef and some lettuce. What a waste of time and money. Oh damn! I just found my favorite burrito. That habanero sauce smothered over a sweet pork burrito with the cut l chortle sour cream. I'm so full I can hardly breathe. That's enough food for 2 meals, but once I had my first bite I couldn't help but eat the whole thing. The location was convenient to get to, the staff welcomed me when I got in, and made ordering easy. I'm sad they don't have a location in Denver. This place is amazing! read more

Tried this place due to rave reviews from multiple people. I was unimpressed to say the least. The 6 or 7 kids behind the line all apparently had better things to do instead of engage with customers, or explain any part of the menu to. The kid running the register thought it would be a good idea to run and get quarters from the back while in the middle of a rush, the woman who was ready to pay was paying with a card. He had no urgency or any real care. When I asked for a water cup he just mumbled "over there." The food was pretty bad, I stuck with a chicken smothered burrito, with black beans, and hot chili sauce. Should have been a pretty safe bet. Unfortunately there were no other options on what to put in or on the burrito, you get chicken, lots of bad rice, and some beans. Then you get garnish on the side and its all smothered in cheese. The worst part of the burrito was the massively thick tortilla, it was about as thick as 4 other tortillas from any other mexican restaurant. The sauce was bland, it was no where near hot, not even spicy. Overall, I was disappointed, many people said this was a must try place in Greeley, but to me it was just another mediocre at best "step up from fast food" place, that I likely will not be back to. read more

10/18/18: I have been coming here for a while now absolutely loving their food and I've never had a problem with their service, until today. I ordered my usual of sweet pork smothered burrito, but I normally get it without the Lettuce that they put on the side. By the time I got to the other side of the line where they put on all the extra stuff they had already put the lettuce and pinto de gallo salsa on it. I told them that I didn't want the lettuce on it and the lady just rolled her eyes at me in a very irritated way. She then turned to the lady next to her at the prep station saying she didn't want lettuce this is not my fault. They ended up just scooping the lettuce and pinto de gallo out of my bowl and thrown in the trash. She never said sorry, she never said would you still like pinto de gallo, and and she repeated herself another time saying this was not my fault. I really wish they would make their employees wear nametags so we could point out which employee my not be doing the best for customer service. First post: From someone that grow up in San Diego, CA, mexican food is on ever corner. This place reminds me of home. Homemade tortillas to start off. Nice variety of different kinds of meats, sausages cheese and salsa. My favorite is the sweet pork burrito smothered in there white chipotle sour cream sauce topped with cheese. I love the breakfast burritos at this place! You just can't beat that creamy habanero sauce paired with the green chili sauce! Those two make the burritos so good! The staff is always so friendly, so I'm glad there is once again an option to tip them! The only suggestion I have is to replace the everyday choice of chorizo, and change it to bacon. As I understand it, that is determined by food cost. From everyone I speak to, they all love the bacon, and we would all pay 50 cents more per burrito if we had a choice of bacon everyday! Personally, I don't know anyone who orders the chorizo. I hope you can consider that request! I have now had 2 orders messed up. I watched them be made but when they got put in the bag they were wrong. I don't live close so it is now an additional 45 minutes out of my way to come back. I also ordered 2 quesadillas and half of it didn't have cheese. I will not be going back. Staffing was not the issue as there was plenty of people. This place has an amazing business model the food is delicious. They make their own tortillas. Get the sweet pork! Try it. At least once! Go here instead of the Fort Collins one most of the time now because it is closer to my house. It is just as good if not better than the one in Fort Collins its really a toss up though... We usually get the Sweet Corn and Onion Quesolle (flour tortilla, melted cheese, corn and onion rolled up. Served with guacamole, lettuce, chipotle sour cream, pico de gallo, and a side of a sauce you choose). This is not really Mexican and not spicy - more Americanized but good for a quick bite. Unfortunately this place seems to be slipping in food quality and service lately. Every time we visit it looks like an entirely new staff of college kids who are not well trained and don't seem to care much about customer service and the food doesn't taste as good and some of the quesolle stuffing seems to be getting smaller. Cafe Mexicali may be the best thing I love about Greeley (not that that's saying a lot). I always order a chicken burrito with half green chili, half white cream sauce - and have never had a problem with the consistency. It usually comes with a side of lettuce and tomato, but I opt out and have them sub in chips (they let you do this!). My biggest rave about Cafe Mexicali is the fact that they make their tortillas fresh right in front of you as you order your burrito! If you are looking for a sit-down or fast food type mexican place with a lot of good options (think Qdoba or Chipotle), Cafe Mexicali may be the place for you! read more

My son always orders this and he couldn't eat it because it was too spicy. But when you go all the way home you don't feel like going back. Last month they gave me the wrong order. One of the smaller restaurant chains in northern Colorado and one of the best too. I've never been disappointed by their food and they even offer special discounts to the students at the local University. The white sauce is the absolute best as is the sweet pork. read more

I've pretty much grown up in Greeley, there's new restaraunts popping up everywhere so I've never heard of this place. The only reason, honestly, we went there is because of the ValPak envelope that came in our mail. "who checks that?" yeah whatever I do. I live in Greeley. Actually going there, AMAZING! The visits there I always get the same thing, the sweet pork quesole and white habenero sauce! It's REALLY good, the atmosphere is good as well, the empolyees are really nice and it really does seem like Mexicali.
