Inside, the ambience does not get much better but we were there for the food and not the vibe. Our server did not speak a lot of English but it was fine. Between the three of us with our limited Spanish and her limited English, we were able to order just fine. We started off with empanadas. Super good--hot out of the fryer, crispy on the outside and flavor-packed meat on the inside. Yum. The only thing I wished we had was some type of sauce to dip them in. For entrees, we ordered the Ropa Vieja and Carne Asada. Both were very good. The portions were a good size--I could not finish my dinner. I also ordered an arepa as a side and I wish I had ordered five more. Great little hidden gem!

It had a perfectly crispy crust, and I LOVED the corn dough used for the empanadas. They're so much more flavorful than flour based empanadas in my opinion. Some suggestions I would like to share is that croquetas shouldn't be just an appetizer, but should be able to buy them individually. What makes Miami Cuban food so great is being able to order an espresso with 2 croquetas. The croquetas should also come with lime, a must! Instead I was brought ketchup. Pastelitos are listed as a dessert but it's really a pastry people would order as an appetizer or with their coffee, as well. Rice and beans were spot on! Lechón and yuca had the right flavors, just needed more of it. Overall, a great experience to make me feel back at home

I felt like I was sprinkling lime juice in using the cream sauce, just to dull down the saltines rather than for the flavor. The beef and cheese empanada was a bit oily, but less salty, whereas the shrimp empanada was quite salty. I was, however, quite impressed by the yucca fries. Those were very well seasoned, and had a sweetness to them. That was really pleasant! I definitely wanted to like this place a lot more than I did, especially given the hype around them.
