In the Malaysian tradition of discussing food, one of my Malaysian friends told me about Noodle House. Could it really be true? A restaurant/takeaway serving authentic Malaysian located but a mere 2 miles from my house. So it was with fevered excitement that I arrived at Noodle House. When I explained that I had heard that they served Malaysian food, they produced a special menu with Malaysian dishes. They also have a conventional Chinese menu. As I scanned the menu, a broad smile came over my face and yes, my heart skipped a beat. The street food favourites were all there, ranging from rojak (mixed fruit salad with thick spicy peanut/prawn paste) to Indian mee rebus to home made soya bean milk. In the name of Yelp research, I'm eating my way through their menu. A couple of average dishes but in general, this is the real thing. Absolutely top notch singapore laksa, wat tan ho, hokkien char mee and pasembur. I'm smiling even as I write this review!

The food is amazing regardless if it's eat-in or takeaway. Everything is always fresh and tastes wonderful. This is one of the most underrated places to eat in Sutton. Very fair prices and generous portions. Highly recommended.

Sutton in Surrey is a funny town. A huge pedrestranised shopping area turns into a bit of a dead…read morezone at night time. The main collection of restaurants is at the southern end of town nearer the station I was looking for somewhere to meet a friend in Sutton and Opentable threw up Brasserie Vacherin. To be honest, Sutton can seem a little shady at night and stepping into the restaurant was like stepping into the Tardis - completely different atmospheres inside and outside and the restaurant does open out into a large dining area in the back They have tried to create the ambiance of France in the restaurant and you can almost believe you're there til the non French accented staff arrive. Service did however carry that ever so French 'I'm doing you a favour' quality to it. My friend and I decided to share a baked Vacherin cheese starter in honour of the restaurant's name and you can't really go far wrong with hot stringy cheese. The portion wasn't the biggest though to be fair, it was being sold as a starter for one For main, my friend and I both opted for slow cooked lamb shank served with spring onion mashed potato. The lamb had been cooked to falling off the bone consistency as I had hoped for. The French take on champ had well made mash but the occasional piece of harsh raw spring onion Dessert was a well made classical creme brulee Overall, a slightly upmarket spot for Sutton though it's not good enough to make me return to Sutton just to eat here

I had scallops with black sausage (blood sausage which I love) & a separate order of steamed scallops which was yummy with a superb broth. I also had a red wine & a white wine (vimentino). I know it was out of order but that's the way it was. Service was attentive if a little slow. The venue was nice & homey. Nothing fancy. I recommend this restaurant for a casual dinner in Croyden, UK .

They are friendly and welcoming, not just to me, but all customers. They even remember which table I usually sit at. I don't have food, but isn't Guinness all you need to fill you up? I would recommend a member of staff for special thanks, but they are all good. I do have a card with Amber & Lisa on it, so special shout out to them.

My bias is that I have only ever been here on Christmas Eve(s), always with a big group of friends and plenty of wine beforehand. A few years ago I had to be dragged kicking and screaming to O'Neills on Christmas Eve - not now! Now I'm the first in, rocking up to the bar and getting a round in. I always have fun, it's like a school reunion in there for me, for a start, and now that I live so far away it's great to come home and see old faces. So, what else should I say. Well, they often have live music on and I can vaguely remember dancing on occasion so it must be decent (either that or the wine has taken its toll). It's hot and sweaty, you'll likely be chatted up by a few people you don't want to be chatted up by and have to maneuver yourself away pronto. The queue for the bar looks big but I find it never takes long to get served. All in all this O'Neills is my favourite place for a Christmas Eve shin-dig. Festive fun guaranteed, and if you're anything like me it's followed by missing the last night bus, having to locate a taxi, chatting to a (very old) taxi driver about what the area looked like in the Second World War, getting home to your parents house, quietly making tea and toast then being woken up at 6am on Christmas Day by your dad who's come down to find you on the sofa with cold tea and toast in front of you. Ahh, it's good to go home for Christmas!
