Walked into this place for a quick dinner after a big, late lunch. The place was nice and had a very cozy feel and initially I really liked it. We were served free champagne and bread and a small plate of sardines, olives, and tomatoes. While ordering, we explained that we had a big lunch and were not very hungry, so we split a meal. The waiter we had (I assumed he was a manager or maybe the owner) acted as though this was unacceptable, stating that he was giving us champagne and bread and everything else and then started murmuring in French, knowing we wouldn't understand what he was saying. We ordered drinks because we felt bad, and then he took the plates with sardines and everything away. We were ready to get up and walk out, but had just put a food order in and were nervous to leave. VERY good food, very nice and cozy ambience, but will not go back due to the way we were treated. Don't give free things if a split meal is that unacceptable. Also, one table had only split a drink next to us, and behind us the table of two only got a glass of wine each and chips and salsa. They were both French, so I can only assume this was because we were American. read more
