Love going to a legit ethnic restaurant only to find out how authentic they truly are. Service and food were both indicative of the warmth and kindness of the Serbian people and their culture. We tasted many dishes that were all amazing. Cabbage salad is sooo good. Homemade bread made fresh daily is insanely delish. Bean soup with the bread is omg !!! All the meat dishes were fresh and perfectly paired with their warm bread. A cross between a hole in the wall and a lounge. Well stocked bar, and Serbian (Balkan) menu for the most part. It does appear that most serving staff and customers are from the old country...as nobody will greet you upon entering....furthermore everyone will stop their meal to take a glance at you before continuing what they are doing (welcome to the Star Wars Cafe). Food is all right with certain items better than others. Winners: Cevapi are definitely a winning menu item at Cafe Derbi. However do not be tricked in ordering "Kajmak" as it is only sour cream. Fried roasted peppers were good but heavy. Turns out they are loaded with cream which came-in handy when eating other drier items. Baklava type is typical for the area of the Balkans and very similar to what my mom and grandma used to make. Losers: Shopska salad ....a little tomato and lil cucumber drowned in feta cheese. Pita (cheese pie) while authentically rolled is dry and not consistent. I ordered it on two separate occasions, and both times was dry. Being from the Balkans, you by default become a very picky person as everyone's Mama or Baba makes the best __________! Anyhow, my tastebuds were pleasantly bursting with delight as my "snobbish expectations" hit all my checklists. Being out of State, I flew in for a convention and brought my American colleagues. The servers were helpful in explaining things and discussing what they might like based on what they normally eat. Everyone of my American friends loved everything, all of the brandy options from various fruits the array of plates of different meats, spreads, breads, salads, desserts and so on were so legit authentic from the old Country. Great Serbian food. My husband (Serbian) and I went to this restaurant while visiting Las Vegas. My husband really loved the karadjorjieva. I ordered the trout, it was pretty good. We loved the baked peppers (paprika) and cabbage salad. What we didn't like at all was the cheese pita, but we still ate it coz we were very hungry One thing to note is that people smoke inside the restaurant so if you are sensitive to smoke, it may not be the place for you. Came here with some close friends who are Bosnian. Service was great and food was delicious. Drinks were great and the staff was resourceful (my wife ordered something that was not on the menu for a drink. They still delivered and more were ordered. Mixed grill, salads, peppers and even a pineapple/cream cake dessert. Previous reviews were right in that the cevapi was great but all the mixed grill was great and tasted good. Dessert was so good too but I was very full at this point. One thing I haven't seen mentioned is that the bread is great and what I remember for having with Bosnian food. read more

I've read some of the negative reviews and thank God I went here before they aired their grievances! I've never had a problem with their service, but then again I didn't think I was walking into a 5 star restaurant! My philosophy is treat others as you wish to be treated. If you walk in and twist up your face at the atmosphere or look for every negative thing you can find, chances are your attitude will show through and their staff won't welcome you with open arms. They've always been pleasant and efficient with me, but I always have a smile for them. As for food, I now moved 25 mins away, yet when I want the best pizza in Vegas, this is where I go. But, the place was packed, no Covid-19 protocol at all. The servers wore no masks, there was no social distancing, there was 100% capacity - full - not 25%, a dog ran through the place through most of our meal, and most everybody was smoking. We felt like we were in another country, specifically, Bulgaria. I only say that because most of the dishes were based on that region. BUT today we had the worst service ever, it was a night with live music not too many people and the service was terrible. As food industry people we know when a place is busy and today it was not. The waitress was busy and I can completely understand that but it took us around an hour to get our food and she forgot a drink for another member of our party twice. The server was rude, impolite, and seemed bothered by having to serve customers. In the USA, we believe in service with a smile, not with a long horse face of disgust. Not sure we could have had a worse experience. Wish I had read the reviews. We've been regulars at Prince but a Serbian friend told us to try Cafe Derbi. I may have to delete her from social. :) So, we walk in the door and there are just a few tables occupied by men drinking. I brought the family and we take a seat. It's a good 15 minutes before we get offered drinks or a menu. It's a good 20 minutes before we get to order food. It's a good 30 minutes before drinks arrive. It's a good 45 minutes before the appetizers arrive. It's almost AN HOUR before food arrives. Waitress was nice-ish but just a meek apology and again nobody was eating before us. The kitchen had no tickets or orders to fulfill. My wife did like her sandwich but my meat plate was atrocious. Overcooked and super salty. I really think it was warmed up from the day before. We ordered extra stuff to have leftovers--- jokes on us, already was leftovers. The goulash was so tough I'm pretty sure the meat was from Jack Links. Literally inedible. Prince is always a reliable option for fantastic Serbian food and far more friendly. read more

Came to write a review on something I witnessed a few weeks ago but looks like the girls who it happened to beat me to it. I was in SHOCK at how a group of 5-6 unproblematic beautiful young girls were treated at Cafe Derbi. My boyfriend and I were at the bar and we saw them enjoying a concert in front row and not bothering anyone at all, just singing and dancing. As the waitress (from below I see her name is Tijana?) was trying to get through with a bucket of beers, she used her free hand to push the crowd left and right. In any normal setting this would be okay but she seemed to lose her patience about halfway and practically shoved one of the girls where she almost tripped on the stage. As the rest of them tried to jump in her defense, Tijana was quick to request the security guard to kick them out?? And wouldn't stop arguing until the girls were escorted out. I asked my boyfriend to go intervene and a few others came to their defense to the security guard, but clearly this waitress didn't budge even though they did absolutely nothing... the girls walked out and we didn't see them again. DO. NOT. GO. HERE. This place is by far the worst experience of my life. I arrived at Cafe Derbi with a group of 6 of us total, expecting to enjoy an event to see one of our favorite Balkan artists. Upon arrival, the staff was immediately rude to our group which was off putting, but we wanted to enjoy the night so we brushed it off. As the night progressed, we were continuously pushed and shoved with force by the waitress/bartender Tijana to the point of us tripping on our feet multiple times. Asking her to stop led to her verbally harassing me and my friends, yelling at us to get out of her way and threatening to punch us and/or kick us out. She proceeded to demand security to kick me out, which he was also confused as we did nothing wrong. He told me there was nothing he could do as she was the owner's daughter. Tijana said we could stay as long as us girls (girls isn't the word she used) stayed out of her way. After being kicked out in front of everyone, disrespected, and threatened, we were not going to spend another moment in this place. This is not by any means a small business to support. My neighbor took me here and the outdoor patio is very nice to sit in on when it's good weather, which it was today. He insisted we try the Beef Links which reminded me of a gyro sandwich, the bread and homemade cream cheese were excellent with zesty fresh red onion, especially with mustard added! They also had nice mugs for their hot tea, the shape of them was nice for holding the warm cup. I would come back here again to try something else. read more
