We were wandering around Aix in the rain for awhile and sorely needed to rest our feet and have some lunch. I spotted Cafe de Paris among several other cafes on Cours Mirabeau, and was immediately attracted to its modern red decor, cleanliness and spacious tables. Chose the indoor area due to inclement weather.
Our server, a refined mature gentleman from the area, was very friendly and helpful despite our sorry lack of French language skills. We started with a glass of a local rose wine, fruity, fresh and a very nice pour at just 4.50 Euro pp. The menu had both French and Italian options, and since we were craving pasta chose the latter cuisine:). My Linguine a la Marinara, a lightly sauced dish studded with fresh shrimp, mussels and calamari, was very good. My companion had gnocchi with pesto which he said was tender and delicious.
Well priced tasty fare in a pricey tourist area with friendly service - feel I lucked out with this one. read more
