In Kensington this is the best place to get the BEST Portuguese egg tarts. Never had one? Creamy and delicious. You will love this place.

Tiny shop in the middle of nowhere in London....THE BEST CUSTARD TART you will ever have in your WHOLE ENTIRE LIFE! Believe that ;) They have only a handful of flavours other than the original, but why would you mess with perfection wanting anything less than the best. Both my husband and I had revelations from the very first bite into these gifts sent from food heaven, he still to this day thinks of our visit there as one of his top food experiences in his life. I too am yet to come across anything resembling those mini masterpieces. The elder lady working there had migrated over from Portugal, and had been making these for a number of years, just watching her work away was mesmerising. I could honestly say I would easily travel to London again just for those tarts. If you want to make your life complete, visit here at least once in your lifetime ^^

Lots and lots of pasteis de nata - all different varieties and flavours

Wow! Wow! Wow! I swear this was not here before, as I often come through Hammersmith for The Apollo Theatre or the Lyric Hammersmith. So this evening, I stumbled across this cafe in the Broadway, as I was running through from the Hammersmith and City Line across the road to transfer to the Bus Station above the Broadway. A big beckoning sign says Happy Hour £1 each, and as I love pasteis de nata, I had to stop and buy a couple! I bought the original custard ones as I did not have time to find out about the different varieties on offer, as I did not want to miss my bus, as there would be a 20 minutes wait until the next one. These are so, so good! I miss these Portuguese tarts that I had at Belém in Lisbon, and these tastes as good as those, crispy on the outside and creamy and soft inside, and it was not sickly sweet. Brilliant! Shame they were closed, on the way back. I need to go back and try the other flavours now.

Hands down the best pastel de nata, I have had in London. I had been wanting to try this place for awhile, but I'm trying to be good about my sugar consumption. Today was dessert day, so I tried 2 of their tarts - the original and the apple cinnamon before lunch. I loved Ved them so much, I came back at the end of the day and packed a few to bring home for the others. The tarts are made freshly on the premises. The flavours they currently have are: Original Apple cinnamon Raspberry Strawberry Blueberry Chocolate Coconut They are about 1.95£ a piece, but there are discounts for buying in multiples of 3's. The custard filling is bang on. The fruit doesn't overwhelm. But the standout feature is the light, airy, flaky, buttery pastry base. No heavy stodgy pastry at this cafe. They also serve takeaway tea and coffee. They did a lovely corrugated cardboard packing when I picked up a set of 6 to take away

Up close... It was still warm when I got home!

Cafe de Nata is definitely one of the most welcomed new businesses in Hammersmith Broadway. It takes a lot of will power for me not to stop by everyday. These Portuguese tarts are THAT good. The pastry is buttery and perfectly bakery. The egg custard filling is so warm, gooey, and just so satisfying. If you buy 5, you get the 6th free. They also have a morning special where you get a free coffee with a pastel de nata!

HOLY COW. WHAT A PLACE. I didn't have super high expectations for this place until my friend recommended it to me. It's a little portuguese cafe in the heart of Kensington, and I started lurking photos of it online when I heard about it. I saw numerous pictures of David Beckham here (so, obviously I had to go there). Lol! After my friend and I ate at Dishoom, we walked over to Cafe de Nata and we each got one of the original pastries. SO delicious. The puff pastry itself was perfectly baked, and the cream on the inside was so warm and delicious. The flavor was unexpected yet sooo incredibly yummy. Truly one of the simplest yet best pastries I've had. If you've ever had a sweet cream piroshki, the flavor resembles that!

Happy I found this place. My favorite dessert - Nata's pastry. Service was great, and staff was friendly.

In recent years, I learned that the pastel de nata is the origin of the Chinese egg custard tarts.
