Yeah, that's right, greasy spoon gets five stars. Here's why...
Visited with my 4 yr old, who, having a thimble sized bladder required a toilet. This place is tiny, seats about 15, so there is no customer toilet. However, the wee fella must have looked suitably desperate, and the staff graciously allowed him to use the staff facility. We did need lunch, so decided to try the place - if anything by way of a thank you for a disaster avoided.
This place is a wee Glasgow Institution. There aren't many places like this around anymore, and I personally think thats a shame. Far too many sterile, faceless multinational eateries churning out the same dull, beige sustainance.
This, as you may guess, is a no frills Scot/Iti old school cafe. They serve Mac cheese, chips, rolls with sausage, chips, burgers, chips, fry ups - oddly served with no chips. The wee man had macaroni cheese, loved it, and the chips. I tried the fry up, everything was delicious and perfectly cooked, served with buttery toast - no grease! A can of ice cold Irn Bru finished it off.
Ryan had ice cream - shocker! They make their own ice cream here - it doesn't come out of a dispenser or plastic tub - this actually happens people. They made a great effort serving it on a bear-shaped dish, with raspberry sauce, various sprinkles and a bear wafer. It impressed him a little - see the pic.
Uber cheap, very cheerful and somewhere you need to visit. Oh, and there's fresh coffee that isn't emblazoned with the name Costa, Starbucks or Nero. read more
