I'd like to shake people going to other cafes on Greenknowe Ave only because I want to tell them that they ought to come to this cafe. This place should not be neglected, but passionately frequented.
It has a great barista, who's friendly and accommodating with regulars. Although they say that they have Czech dishes on the menu, it's often only on "special" and so is a terrific place to just come for brunch with dishes that are a familiar fare for Sydney's Saturday choices.
There is enough space, with many large tables, and so is great for groups of three or more.
It has free internet wifi (Unwired at the time of writing this review) and so you can take a seat, read an ebook, write a piece of prose or even tap away at your iPad without being rushed away by limited internet connection choices, noisy patrons or bad cafe service. Unlike other cafes on this street, they have enough staff, so you never feel neglected.
Tasty gluten, lactose or starch free options and combinations are fairly represented on the menu options and if you are a regular then "life is a cafe", as they say! If you see any references to green eggs, salmon and scrambled eggs, or French toast - go for it!
I love their little touches of sincerity and humility in their decor, knickknacks, their service and their overall atmosphere. You feel loved and the love is reflected by their equally charming, generationally diverse, beautiful patrons. There is no Elizabeth Bay pretense. I always look forward to seeing my little Aussie koala, platypus and bear biscuits with my coffee.
I can't wait to come in again and hear them say gregariously, "why hello!"
