I love this cafe so much - one of my favorite cafes that use higher quality syrups other than Torani which make for a more gourmet tasting latte. My favorite is definitely their iced hazelnut. Their breakfast veggie wrap was delicious and super filling. It's definitely on the healthier side compared to ones that contain breakfast potatoes, but it's yummy nonetheless. My friend got a salmon bagel and he really enjoyed it! Fresh salmon and pretty cut veggies made the $22 bagel seemingly worth it. This place is nostalgic for me, as I spent a lot of my high school years here, so I'll keep coming back regardless of my little gripes. Back in the day, the thing to order was the Frosted Mocha. And it would still be if we could consume all the sugar and the calories. These days, we order much simpler cappuccinos and lattes or maybe just some sparkling water. The food it simple and good but nothing truly unique or amazing. You stand in a line (that moves faster than expected) to order your drinks and food. They give you a number for the food and bring that to you. However, the drink process is a bit convoluted. You have to go get the drinks yourself, but there's no way to tell when they are ready. I guess they could yell out names (like in Starbucks) but I never heard a name called. My husband reluctantly comes here because of this issue. I stopped by with a friend on a Friday shortly before noon. There was a ton of people and the line was long. There's outdoor and indoor seating and luckily we were able to grab an outdoor table. Food came out pretty quickly despite the high volume of people. I ordered the breakfast sandwich and blended chai for myself, and my friend got the salmon bagel and French toast topped with strawberries. My breakfast sandwich was so delicious and the portion was huge. The blended chai tasted pretty watered down though. I tried some of my friend's French toast and it was amazing. It came with a vanilla bean butter which was immaculate and such a nice creamy addition to the French toast. Food was lovely but docking off one star due to pretty high prices ($22 for salmon bagel had me shook) and no WiFi (came here with the intention of spending the workday here and had to find another spot with WiFi). read more

Came here after a 12-hour nightshift for breakfast and left extremely satisfied! Was able to order up at the front with minimal lines (got there around 7:45am, lines went out the door around 8:30). First time visit, but will definitely come back on my next visit to Menlo park. Ordered the Frosted Mocha and the Shake n Maple Iced Espresso. I initially hesitated on the frosted Mocha because it was a $9 drink. After drinking it, I realize the cost was a combination of the quality of the drink and how long it would take for you to drink it through a straw. It was extremely thick and rich, but still somehow balanced. It was fairly sweet and the whipped cream was delicious but hea y, so I probably won't get it again. But anyone with a chocolate sweet tooth would love it. The shake n Maple drink was also very tasty, with a strong maple taste that complimented the espresso. The staff who took the order was very helpful and recommended the drinks, and the barista was quite quick with the drinks while still keeping it tasty There were tons of tables available inside and outside around the fountain, so a nice environment to study or have a lunch date. Located next to Kepler's books, a great bookstore, and plenty of underground parking on a Tuesday afternoon, so every reason to come back and try the food. read more

I cant believe I havent gone here sooner! This place is such a chill brunch spot! On Sundays, they have all day brunch which I was super excited about! Otherwise they change their menu for lunch! The food here was really good and made super fresh to order. Our server, Joe, who also happened to the be manager took care of us so well! He was so hospitable, caring, and so eager to recommend us things on the menu no matter how long it took for us to choose! He recommended us the Breakfast Sandwich, Frozen Mocha, Potatoes, and French Toast. ALL of which were soooo yummy. My salmon bagel plate. was soo good too. The salmon was super fresh, and I love how they include all the different ingredients for a lox bagel! You have the choice to make it open face or closed! This place does not take reservations- it's open seating on first come first serve basis. Plenty of outdoor and indoor options. Despite the rush and long line the staff was courteous and the line move very quickly. Efficiently managed overall. Menus were distributed for people standing in line . Then someone came and took the order while we were still in line. Pay as you reach the counter and go and sit wherever you like with your number in hand. Good idea to have someone in the group hold a table while the rest are inline. I ordered the beet root goat cheese salad - it was good but small portion size. What an amazing experience! There was a bit of a line when we got here around 10 but nothing too crazy. When it hit 10:30 the BIG line formed. Food: 10/10 It was hot, fresh and tasty. Ambience: There were many families and people with their dogs. A very lively place with indoor and outdoor seating. Coffee: We got the Cafe Ogeat (almond latte) and the latte. Both were great! Service: Many servers and workers everywhere. They were all very efficient people. Parking: There is an underground parking garage for the plaza with free two hour parking. Came here with my wife, 2 sisters, brother-in-law, and nephew for dinner on Thursday. There aren't many large tables but we found one that seated 6 indoors near the back. They have quasi-table service here. You order at the front and then they bring your food to you. Madison took our order and made some solid recommendations, especially the glass of Sancerre for my wife. They don't have a bar, per se, but I ordered and enjoyed an Aperol Spritz. Madison also checked in with us to make sure everything was to our liking. We enjoyed everything we ordered. The mushroom soup was rich with mushroom flavor and creamy - delicious. The beet "salad" was very beet forward - probably two beets worth of beet on it. Could have used some more arugula to balance it out, actually. All of the main courses we had -- gnocchi, pasta with pork ragu, and chicken pie -- were very flavorful. The gnocchi was very garlic-forward, fair warning. That's a personal preference. For me, I would have liked more balance with the basil. Although I live in North Carolina, I grew up in the Bay Area and visit frequently so I don't get sticker shock in restaurants, especially in $ilicon Valley. I have been coming here for about 20 years and absolutely love it. I moved to the East Bay a few years ago and whenever I'm in the area, I make a pit stop to Cafe Borrone. Today my husband placed an online order so that I could run in, pick up the order and head back on the road before hitting traffic. The online ordering menu did not have the tri-tip sandwich as an option so that had to be called in and paid for in person. When I arrived, the tri-tip sandwich was ready but not the online order. I waited for 15 minutes past the promised time that the order would be ready only to find out they are having problems with their online ordering system in that it doesn't notify Cafe Borrone when an order has come in. This is per the female manager who was barely out of high school. The carrot cake I purchased was not a full piece and there were no napkins in the bag. Speaking of bags, the girl that was helping me behind the register laid out my order on the counter and seemed put off when I asked for a bag. Not sure how I was suppose to carry 2 sandwiches, 2 pieces of cake and a drink. I asked for napkins 3 times and finally a customer went to the bar side and brought me some cocktail napkins (her order was no where to be found either). The 20 year old manager said I could talk to the general manager - another 20 year old! No thanks. I could have walked in and gotten my order quicker. The whole point of ordering ahead of time was so that I could beat the traffic. Instead, thanks to these employees, I ended up with a 2 hour commute home instead of 1 hour and 20 minutes. Per Yelp and google reviews, i got a veggie melt. It was a warm day and I wanted something that wasn't too filling. As a non-veg person I was convinced I'd leave hungry, however the amount of sautéed mushrooms and melted cheese hit the spot. The bread was baguette sized (5 to 6") so food-coma didn't hit immediately. Every element in the sando had ample flavor with the toasted moz and parm, pesto, avo and a grilled tomato ( my favorite ). Only deducted one star bc of the wait to get the sandwich. By the time it came out, my friend who ordered the Gouda sando (apparently also a must have) was done with her meal. A little embarrassing for me especially when I eat kinda slow. Cafe Barrone is a staple in this area and I'll continue to go back again and again. read more

Came here for my boyfriends birthday brunch on a Friday around 11am. They serve brunch until 12pm so we lucked out that we still got to try their brunch/breakfast items. We had to wait in line for around 10 min but there were many tables outdoors that we could sit at. We ordered food at the cashier then got a number and the waiters serve the food to you. We decided to order the French toast and #3 scrambeled eggs (had mushrooms, shallots, creme fraiche, scallions). The French toast was nothing special in my opinion and it was pretty heavy. I wouldn't order it again. The scrambeled eggs were light and fluffy which I appreciated. But again not worth the price. We also ordered a cafe vanilla coffee which was yummy. This is a nice brunch spot that has a breakfast and lunch menu. They serve breakfast all day on Sundays. It is located in a trendy/higher end part of town and there is two-hour free parking in the garage right under it. On weekends and peak hours there will probably be a line. However, the line moves relatively quickly. All total between waiting in line and getting my food it took me about 30 minutes. The entire staff there is very friendly and helpful. There is tons of outdoor patio seating here and there is limited indoor dining. They offer beer and wine along with smoothies, coffee, tea, and juice. This restaurant does not have table service. So you wait in line, order your food at the counter, pay for your food, they give you a number or letter and then you find a table. They will bring your food to you. You will have to pick up your drinks though. I ordered the apple waffle with a side of potatoes. The potatoes were heavenly. The waffle however, was a bit dry for my taste and lacked in flavor. I got some lemonade to wash my meal down and it was awesome. Its was freshly squeezed, and had a nice bitter sweet taste. Very refreshing. This is a nice chill spot to have breakfast and/or lunch. This is a great spot to grab breakfast or brunch as service is pretty quick and there's a ton of outdoor seating available (very COVID-friendly). There is basically no table service; you just order at the counter and they bring the food out to you once it's ready. We came on a weekday so there weren't a ton of people, but I've seen the line go out the door on the weekends. I ordered the banana pancakes which was a stack of 5 pancakes topped with candied pecans and powdered sugar. These pancakes were so soft and fluffy that I barely had to use any force on my knife to cut through all 5 pancakes. The banana flavor definitely comes through, but there aren't clear cut banana slices in the pancakes themselves. Additionally, the candied pecans were a great touch :) My boyfriend got the breakfast sandwich which he really enjoyed as well; all of the flavors came together nicely but it's definitely not a sandwich that you easily eat with your hands. read more
