We walked in and were very warmly greeted, and sat right across from the glass cases that showcased their wares. Given two menus in German, we figured it out pretty quick. Our utensils and napkins were brought on a white plate along with salt and pepper, as well as a silver plate holding our waters, which was a great touch. The interior is very classy, old school elegance, and the servers were the same, nicely dressed very polite and helpful. Our food arrived quickly, hot and abundant, not exactly bacon and eggs, but very good. We were not asked how we wanted our eggs cooked,, so what you see is what you get. My eggs were a little overcooked for my taste, but the lovely K got some yolk run. There was a very good amount of food for the price and it all worked well together. We had the chance to chat with our server who spoke very good English, as it seems most of the people we have come across in our two weeks on the Continent do. We had to go back the next afternoon to try the Strudel of course. We were recognized right away, and the place was quite a bit busier so we walked up the stairs and were sat in the main dining area. The Strudel was quite delicious, and once again abundant and swimming in warm custard, which I wasn't sure of, but man it was good. Also added a Stiegel beer which is brewed right here in Salzburg for over 500 years. Cafe Habakuk is a bit of a throwback to simpler times when good service and great food, at fair prices was the norm rather than the exception and we couldn't be happier.
