A busy café on Elizabeth street, this place should have everything that your looking for in a café: Lunch and/or coffee to go, lunch and/or coffee to stay. The menu's got a reasonable amount of choice and for a reasonable price: you can eat for less than $10. Overall, it seems a pretty causal, nice place to be.
It's got views of Hyde park too (which does give you the sound of the traffic and busses stopping every ten seconds, but you cant avoid that in the city), so its got the pleasant sophisticated city-park thing going on.
But there was a bit of a negative vibe when I went in, but. Just a bit of service without a smile, maybe a bit of "I'm stressed out and unhappy". I guess the hectic city life can get to us all, and I suppose I don't want the lady behind the counter act all peachy if she's unhappy, but it really does make it a little bit less of an enjoyable atmosphere.
But hey, we all have our bad days, I'm sure if I went in for a second time tomorrow I'd get that long-awaited smile. read more
