But my husband and I hope Alsham does a bit better, because we had a really nice lunch here over the weekend. It wasn't busy when we arrived around noon, but over the next few hours more and more people came in. Service was very friendly, and they brought us some free, freshly fried falafel for a little amuse-bouche - how lovely! They were impossibly crispy, hot and delicious. We didn't order them, but you should. We did order the hummus beirutty - chickpea puree with chili, parsley, tahini, and lemon juice. Like a hummus, but with a more concentrated flavor and a kick of spice. There wasn't much of it - not the usual big bowl - but it was enough to keep us full along with the main courses. And they brought lots of fresh, hot bread - the bread was all puffy from the oven when it hit the table. We shared a mixed grill - you can see the meat cooking on the charcoal when you walk in, sooooo tempting - with lamb cubes, chicken cubes, and kofta kebab. All very tender, juicy, and flavorful. You have to order rice, but they brought us free garlic sauce and chili sauce. We busily started making little sandwiches out of the bread, hummus, and meat - every bite was great. The okra mezze was nice too instead of a salad - served in a creamy, fragrant red sauce. So much food! Didn't seem like too much but we could barely finish it. I think it was just over £10 per person for all that and we were stuffed. We love this kind of food, and they do it well here. We'll definitely be back!

We knew we were on to something good when we entered to the most pleasant of aromas. 'What is that smell?!' - We just had to ask. It could have been a mixture of numerous delicious tasty concoctions but the overwhelming warm scent of 'the tangy Thai soup' oozing from the kitchen teased our hungry lunchtime bellies. With quite the selection of herbal tea, including some interesting loose leaf options, it's the perfect spot for tea in the toon. There's also fresh milkshakes too! I opted for a pot of apple and mint tea based on the waitress's recommendation and I wasn't disappointed. Mmm! We took a seat and awaited lunch whilst admiring the homely and bright interior. It wasn't long till I was in Thai soup heaven with a delicious bowl of thick, creamy, just-the-right-amount-of-spice tasty tang! Accompanied by a delicious tuna, cheese, olives and caramelised onion sandwich, it made for a fine lunch. Seriously yummy stuff and a mega bargain at just £4.50! For winter months they have 2 main buildings and 2 out-houses which are very pretty and well decorated inside. Post-birthday night out I was a little worse for wear and ready for a full English and a good cup of tea unfortunately the breakfast cut off point is at 11.30 however I wasn't too disappointed as the rest of the menu left plenty of tantalizing options for me to choose from! The waitress came over to take our orders and helped me choose between 2 dishes that I was torn over. The drinks service was a little slow but the food was timey and the presentation on all the dishes was amazing! My Dad opted for a seafood platter, which came with smoked salmon, crayfish, cockles, mackerel and crab slaw all served with sourdough bread, hollandaise and aioli sauces - seafood heaven! My Mum went for the lamb and goats cheese burger that was divine! The lamb was cooked to perfection with it being pink in the middle and served with a yummy mint yogurt dip and sun-dried tomatoes. I was stuck between the club sandwich and BBQ pulled pork open sandwich. On recommendation I went for the pork, which was served, on sourdough toast with melted Monterey cheese - heaven! I was having food-envy looking at the lamb burger but was not in anyway disappointed with my pork. Finishing off our meal with the Parlour's specialty - ice creams all round! I have a new found love for the homemade lemon meringue cone... There is so many flavours including apple pie and the originals too - its an ice cream lovers heaven! A really well done place, with layout and set up. Sometimes tea shops along the high way have a whole room full of junk they are trying to sell to you and then cramped sitting. But not here I think I saw a few cute things for sale but mostly they were focused on their food and I was told famous ice cream! Well done for keeping the place about whats most important... the food! Friendly service and tasty treats. It was a bit slow because they were super packed and under staff. The waiter apologised for the wait and said someone had called in ill! I can only rate it on the cake and coffee because I didn't eat anything there but I imagine it would be good .
