Great stop to have on the way to Stanthorpe, Armidale, Sydney etc…read more Stopped in for breakfast on the way to Stanthorpe. For $10.50 we got two pieces toast, two poached eggs and about 4 slices of bacon and tomato. It was huge! Very well cooked and very filling. The staff were absolutely lovely and made sure everything was OK and cooked how we liked. They also engaged us in a bit of chit chat about where we were headed, where we are from etc. As we ate outside, the only thing that was bad were the flies who wanted to share our breakfast :) Definitely a great place to stop on the way!

I guess this is a place where If you have low expectations, you won't be disappointed…read more They have what you would expect - sandwiches as well as a few of your standard highway diner type meals. I ordered the fish, chips and salad which cost $16. What I got what was a crumbed fish that was pretty bland, chips that were fine, and a salad where someone had simply put chopped iceberg lettuce, carrots, cucumber, tomato, beetroot, a rolled up kraft slice?????, and a blob of tartere sauce on the side (couldn't tell because I didn't eat any of it!). My wife's coffee was also extremely weak. On the positive I will say their service was not too shabby with food coming out pretty quick when they were quite busy. To me the real shame of this is the waste of food. I am the type of person who hates leaving food on his plate.... I can only imagine how much salad they must throw out. Next time I pass through Aratula I will either give another place a go or keep driving.

The staff have been so lovely and the food has been so delicious, no matter what I order. There's also many options and they even have things like vegan / gluten-free options. An important note - they have outdoor seating and allow well-behaved animals, so it's not uncommon to see a little pupsicle sitting under the table by its owner, looking at the humans. I don't know about you, but it's a definite plus for me.

We waited nearly 2 hours today for our food and the attitude of the staff, especially the manager, was just unacceptable. We had to serve ourselves to water and there was NO apology for the delay in serving the food. Even the coffees and the drinks took over 30 mins. We appreciate it was Mother's Day and more busy than usual, but if you're going to cater for large gatherings and special occasions, and book to capacity, then make sure you have the staff and capability to adequately service your customers. I will no longer be recommending this cafe to anyone I know! Very disappointing!!! The owner recently responded to the above review on Facebook and this is what they said: Cafe on Cusack: "I'm sorry AGAIN that you feel that way , we had amazing feedback from all other customers today so I'm disappointed you felt the need to highlight AGAIN your experience. I'm not the manager, I'm the owner and we are a family run business that strives at all times to keep all our customers happy and satisfied but sometimes it is an impossible goal. I disagree very strongly with your statement that we are over priced maybe we are if you are comparing us to McDonald's!!" What happened to good old fashion Customer Service!? I strive to support independent and local business whenever I can, especially those in rural and more remote areas. It's just a shame these business owners have no idea on how to treat their customers - especially those that were loyal and frequent customers. I hope the owners learn from this and take a good look at their customer values. I only hope for their sake their service levels improve, otherwise there business will suffer greatly!

The cafe churns out a respectable selection for a small kitchen manned by only a couple of staff AND they have Merlo coffee. Prices are not outrageous especially if you're used to the city. There is a light meal and breakfast menus with daily chalkboard specials. We went for afternoon tea - devonshire tea w/ 2 scones and cheese board - triple cream brie & vintage cheddar, muscatels & lavosh (there was actually a wide range of cheese to choose from I'm just a bit boring with my cheese). Staff were very friendly and we had such a nice time we went back for breakfast the next day! Coconut porridge and herb & cheese omelette were really tasty - our friends got The Works and Eggs Benedict. Total bill $98 - incl coffees & drinks (no split bills). The view is amazing and you will find yourself staring off at it during your meal. Well worth the visit!
