The food menu was small, with local fresh produce favoured and the menu is regularly updated. We decided to go with Main + Dessert, and after a strong recommendation we all ordered the pork!! There was an option for a smaller piece of pork but with some of the salt and pepper prawns, 2 of us chose that. I think there was a small misunderstanding about what the pork and prawns came with. We ordered a bottle of GSM to enjoy with our meal. We were all hoping to have dessert. Due to the generous proportions of our mains, we ended up ordering 3 to share amongst 5 of us. We had the apple pie, the sticky date and a tiramisu - all fine choices!! The sticky date would have to be my favourite. 3 of us enjoyed a glass of the Black Noble dessert wine with our desserts. At $18/glass it is something to savour. Our server was magnificent, always ready with a suggestion or tip for us. The atmosphere was lovely too. Lots of people enjoying their Saturday night out, but the restaurant was not overly noisy or uncomfortable. Can't wait to dine there again.

It mostly attracts an older crowd (well, it is Tamborine Mountain, not known for its 18-year-old club hoppers) and usually has a couple of locals busting out a few tunes for entertainment. What makes this bar different are a couple of big pluses. They have some very, very tasty classic food. We're talking sausages and mash, pot pies, pork belly.... mmmm. All are generous serves and priced appropriately for their size. As well as the food, the bar lets you have dogs. As a pet owner whose pets often join them for a drive or walk in the area, it's great to be able to tie them up in the outdoor area and then enjoy a drink or meal. And finally, what keeps me coming back is the stupendously lovely staff. One night my husband and I accidently left without paying. When we were in the area a week later and remembered, we dropped by to settle the bill. Instead of being angry we had walked out on the cheque the staff stressed how much they appreciated us coming back. Lovely stuff.

The enthusiastic and cheerful waitress was straight over to tell us about the daily specials and take our orders. We decided to start with Mussels Provincal. These were presented tastefully with a delightful sauce and served on a bed of rice. Then for mains we ordered the Red Emperor with baked potatoes, brocollini, green beans and vine ripened tomatoes and The Lobster mornay with similar sides. WOW! The Mornay was a challenge to finish as there was so much and the Red Emporer was reported to be quite impressive also. Once again we requested to substitute the potatoes for more salad, the request was acknowledged and then the dish was served with potatoes regardless. I am not sure whether there is communications breakdown between the waiters/waitresses in Brisbane and their kitchen staff but this is the second venue this has happened. It would be nice to see a request followed up and not ignored. Aside from that, a nice warm atmosphere and good service made this a pleasant dining experience even though the weather outside was anything but.
