I…read morehave been following them on Facebook for quite some time as they were remodeling and rebranding everything. Today they announced would be their first day open so we decided to stop by. We found parking in the street, however there is a parking garage below that you can enter from either of the side streets. Upon arrival you are presented with the menu. There is a large menu ranging from all different types of brazilian food. They have an English option if you don't speak Portuguese. I decided to get the Picanha (rump steak) and my partner got the Sausage Plate. To drink we got Garana and for dessert we got Brigadeiro. All of our food came out after a short wait and was cooked perfectly. It was all served fresh off the grill and seasoned with the right amount of everything. The portions are big so definitely come hungry! I can't wait to be a frequent customer. Highly recommend!

I have been visiting Hog's Breath at this location for many years for birthdays and special events…read more Had I written this review 3 years ago, you'd be seeing a 5 star review with nothing but praises. However have not been for 2 years (moved up to Bundaberg) and it wasn't until a recent early Christmas catch-up with family that prompted this review. Prices we had looked at online were higher on the menu than what we had seen advertised. Had to wait for almost an hour for our steaks (lunch sitting, almost empty with only 3 other tables being seated), our jug of coke seemed very watered down. Someone ordered the loaded potato skins and when it arrived there was only 4 and at a price of around $18 i think that's a bit rich. One of our salads ended up with sparkles from a children's desert in it, we were told we would receive 25% off the meal which didn't end up happening. One of our group ordered a prime rib cooked medium rare, but after 45mins was told that he could only have one medium rare if he did not want one of the 18hr slow cooked steaks. Strange since on their menu it states that they are best served medium rare? On top of this, gravy used to be included with your meal along with 2 sides (salad and fries/mash). Now it is $2.95 on top of the cost of the meal. I don't know if this restaurant has changed hands in the last few years but I know I will not be returning as the quality has bottomed out.

I commend them for branching into plant based options to ensure everyone is catered for when dining in their restaurant. The Vegan Schnitzel Wrap is AMAZING. I personally opt out the lime and coriander dressing for a traditional tomato sauce. Service and Staff Dress Code is something that can be improved. Arguably it's a steakhouse, not fine dining. Overall would recommend this restaurant for any age group, with a particular emphasis on family friendly dining options. Very causal setting, affordable, with a rustic homely vibe. Curly Fries are too die for and is what Hog's Breath is renowned for. If you purchase a membership you will receive 25% off for life, which is a fantastic discount for those that are regular diners.

My husbands steak was unfortunately over cooked to the point of being charcoal on the outside, not medium rare and not their usual standard honestly. The kids both loved their meals, which were free which was a nice bonus, and they also have a kids room with PlayStations in it which is great to keep the kids occupied while they wait for the meals. The reason I gave it 4 stars despite the dismal steak is the waitress, she's been there forever and is lovely and goes out of her way to make sure everyone is comfortable. All in all, a nice, family friendly restaurant.

The selection is more than decent where u can find usual things including dumplings, wontons and dim sims, steamed buns (or "baos"), pork ribs, roast duck, and noodles as well as cow tripe and chicken feet. They also serve up sweet dishes such as custard tarts, silken tofu in a sweet ginger syrup and other Chinese cakes and pastries. Service is as per a lot of Chinese restaurants where speed and efficiency is priority and western mannerisms/politeness is second. However, it gets the job done, u do get what u want, and (usually) with a smile. In terms of yum cha on the Gold Coast / Brisbane area, I'm sure there're probably many of other "better" places, however in terms of consistency, I don't think many of those places can keep pace. I believe it is better doing something good all the time rather than something amazing only sometimes, especially when u are taking friends/family out for a decent feed. On the weekends it tends to get crazy busy, so if u decide to try, remember to come early (like 1200), otherwise expect to wait for a table. I recommend if you're in the area and feeling for yum cha, give this place a go.
