I literally would come back to Ponce for this restaurant. I did a bit of a stopover in Ponce because I heard it was a city worth seeing. Unfortunately, I came during semana santa and it was nearly a ghost town as almost all the businesses were closed. I was looking for somewhere to eat while I waited on my hotel room to be ready and I stumbled upon this place. It. was. delicious. Look at the pictures. you must. The pancake was so filling, yet fluffy, warm, and tasty. Service is a bit slow although everyone is very kind. It is clean, prices are reasonable, and food is delicious. Wonderful place for a breakfast with a wide range of options. The banana nut pancakes were by far the best thing we got and I would definitley order them again. The eggs benedict was good, but nothing special. The Montecristo was also pretty standard, but hit the spot. Coffee is PR is always amazing. We got iced coffees and thoroughly enjoyed them. Wife and I were visiting Ponce for a day trip. I saw this cafe on yelp and a photo of the flan that drew me in. Dont be dissuaded by the neighborhood as the area is recovering economically. The area is safe and there is security outside. Parking was easy. Inside the place was clean and welcoming. Make sure to come with an empty stomach because the portions are big and we ended up taking food back in containers bc we couldn't finish it all. The food was delicious, drinks too, staff was friendly. Coffee is top notch as are the pastries. Support the local Ponce businesses. read more

I wanted to love this place. It's so cute inside. Clean, minimalistic, and beautiful lighting. For for ambiance it's got an A+, but it is a restaurant and the food and service counts a lot in my grade. We started with coffee and it was excellent. They know how to make a great cup of coffee. Next we ordered the empanadillitas de bacalao. The portion was generous we each had four of the mini empanadas. I found them a too "bready," but flavorful. We also ordered a Cafe Lucero pasta with an olive oil and garlic sauce with primavera veggies in lieu of meat. It took a very long time for the pasta dish to arrive. There were four people behind the counter and not one thought to ask us if we'd like a glass of water. I finally got up and went to them. The dish arrived and it was a little skimpy of the primavera. I split it with my mom and we started to eat it. I quickly realized that the pasta was undercooked. I like al dente, but this was very chewy. My biggest disappointments were that it had absolutely no seasoning and they cook had decided to stretch the veggies by using lots of the broccoli stems and few of the broccoli florets. If they don't understand Italian food, I think they need to remove it from the menu. read more

I found this place online when looking for a place for lunch in Ponce after seeing some family in the area. The website had detailed pictures of the menu and food choices. What was appealing was that this place has items for kids (my son is a picky eater) and Puerto Rican items like bollitos de queso which are a personal favorite. The drinks were great made with fresh ingredients. The staff was very friendly and helpful! Our waitress Kimberly was very sweet and went out of our way to help accommodate us like getting a cheeseburger for my son. I even got an iced coffee to go made from coffee beans from the owner's coffee plantation. This place is definitely worth a stop if you are in the area. I highly recommend it! read more

For a place called Café Lucero, the coffee was mediocre. For some odd reason the place didn't have crepes at 11am but they had pancakes, which makes me think that the food is not freshly made. It took about 35mins to get a plate of waffles with fruits and a plate of pancakes, and this is with nobody in the restaurant. Way overpriced food for the quality and location of the place. The street are filthy and the area is seedy. Ponce isn't what it used to be. The food was good but it toook so long, it turned me off. There are three severs and yet one waitress is doing all the work. The women at the register looks like she is shopping online and the "bartender" didn't once help the waitress.
