They'd been coming there for decades (she was a ski racer) and loved how the more recent owners had transformed the place. Their spontaneous and friendly approach perfectly captured the ambience. There were smiling faces abounding not only amongst the helpful staff but with the groups of diners. At the corner table and couch was a family with young children doing school homework. The staff all spoke excellent English and made us feel like regulars.

It's a small-ish, hidden cafe with spectacular views of the surrounding Alps and a peek into the crazy big half-pipe. Watch children half your size hurtle themselves into the half-pipe, occasionally appearing over the edge to go spinning in the sunlight! Crazy, and very fun to watch. Some benefits of this place, apart from its central location and views, is that it's almost never *really* crowded, and you never have to wait long at the counter to be served. This is in sharp contrast to the Disney-style industrial eateries a short walk above at the CSG station. Another benefit: in a land where everything costs a million francs, the food and drinks here were reasonable - i.e. within the global standards for high-priced hipster chai lattes (~$5-$6). Some cute "no joint adventure!" posters (that nonetheless seems to stop no one from smoking), vast bathrooms that are never crowded (another benefit over the CSG station), friendly staff, and some very tasty hot dogs and mince pies.

There was a club downstairs that was good for drinks and dancing. The floor was quite sticky though. They didn't have proper wine glasses downstairs at the club, so the bartender just used some funky rounded glass that looked pretty cool. But she didn't seem to know what she was doing, because she poured way less red wine for me than for my friend before me. Oh well. I don't drink that much anyway. The DJ started playing some really repetitive tunes, so then it started getting boring to dance to. But still good to check out for a bit.
