Wait staff were all friendly, and spoke simplified French to help me out (native English speaker with less French than I'd like, although it was easier after a couple drinks). I'd recommend any of the fresh seafood, and loved the fish soup.

We ordered mussels which were a long time coming. Whilst we were waiting the display boat of fish in the open window fell onto the pavement which took everyone's attention including the staff. I think our mussels must have been ready to come out but by the time they reached us they were overcooked. Our bowls of empty shells were not collected and we had to put them on the next table. I must say the wine and bread rolls were excellent. It was virtually impoosible to attract anyone's attention to pay so we went and stood by the till!! Very disappointing.

I was skeptical about the period costumes etc., but it was actually not at all kitsch. It was charming, beautiful, a great mix of old and redecoration/remodelling. The menu is good, fairly big choice of typical French fare from the region (beware stinky cheese!!!) If you're a fussy eater and don't like odd meats and strong cheeses, go for the Welsch. When we arrived we were alone and it was really cool, and then when people arrived and it filled up it was another ambiance that was also cool. The food wasn't the best I've ever had, but it was good enough. Service was great. I'll def. be back here, if for nothing else the experience. Total bill for two dinners, two desserts, and two beers was 48€. Pretty fair, large quantity of food.
