The interior is very beautifully French (of course because it's Napoleon's former palace). I love people watching here. You can tell everyone puts a bit of effort in their appearance before arriving at Cafe Imperial because all of the diners look so chic. Great atmosphere paired with delicious food and friendly staff.

Still it's not a neo-snobbish façade as you might think. The customers are relaxed and friendly. Korsakov has a complete floor for smokers; just take the spiral staircase and take your drink with you. During weekends, don't worry that the bar will close early, unless you mean early in the morning. Since this bar is a very popular place, it might happen that it's completely crammed. Just go to one of the other nice pubs on the square. They are fun too and they have a long history of coolness.

(My meetings involve beer quite often) They have good coffee and great beers on the draft, don't forget to try the house beer named "korsakov", a refreshing Pale Ale that will make sure you drink one more. They have a chill outdoor sitting for this times of warmth, and some good snacks. I am yet to try the proper food but it sounds good. Although I'm becoming a regular here, there are things I really dislike (and they're the reason I didn't give 4 stars). I don't know what the deal is with service in this city, but a lot of the times I find myself in nice, chill places with horrible service. In this particular case, there are a couple members of the staff (not all of them) who have the wrong attitude: Not making eye contact, responding to your questions in a mean way, or even a freaking smile. People often forget it's their job. And no matter what you do for a living, do it right. No wonder why "tipping" is not a thing in Antwerp. But still, I'll be a regular in this place. I can't let this ruin my experience anymore.

Not in a bad way....but as it was explained to me....I had to see for myself. This bar holds the biggest collection (over 1000) of witches and broomsticks....all GIVEN to owner by customers. Decorated everywhere....in all corners....and hanging from ceiling. Small bar....is normal for Europe. Great beer selection....but come on. We ARE in Belgium....home of 100's of beers. Owner, Gino, is nice and will talk your whole stay. There is a pool table, casino game, pinball game....along with plenty of seating at and away from bar. All in all...a great visit and next time I am in Antwerp I will stop in for another drink and look at the witches.

Maybe it's the rating, maybe it was the rain, the cafe was full with people lining up outside for a table. We waited for 25min or so to get a table. At this time already more people queued up behind us. Menu was simple, which made it easy for us to order. We ordered the egg benedict with bacon/ham, and egg benedict with spinach, soup of the day (it was yam soup) and some drinks. Food arrived in 5-10min and oh mine everything was delicious down to the artisan bread that accompanied the soup. Quite the hearty brunch that we needed to warm up from rain and power through the rest of the day. Service was friendly and attentive. Highly recommend.
