Just go to one of the other nice pubs on the square. They are fun too and they have a long history of coolness.

Although I'm becoming a regular here, there are things I really dislike (and they're the reason I didn't give 4 stars). I don't know what the deal is with service in this city, but a lot of the times I find myself in nice, chill places with horrible service. In this particular case, there are a couple members of the staff (not all of them) who have the wrong attitude: Not making eye contact, responding to your questions in a mean way, or even a freaking smile. People often forget it's their job. And no matter what you do for a living, do it right. No wonder why "tipping" is not a thing in Antwerp. But still, I'll be a regular in this place. I can't let this ruin my experience anymore.

There is what looks like a dedicated start up floor, so kinda incubator style office space for those kicking off their new venture, which looks reserved however if you continue up to the second floor, check out the greatwide open space which has some great seating areas and spacious pallet furniture which is all cushioned and looks unbelievably cosy. There is a book shelf which has all sorts of inspiration reads. Dotted around the walls are inspiration quotes from leaders before us, with free wifi and plenty of plug in space it really is the perfect place for any free lance type of worker to come along and get plenty done. Only downside is the wifi is from a hotspot by a local Belgium provider, it didn't like my foreign status plus limits you to just one device only, need to log off on my laptop, to use wifi on mobile / vice versa The coffee shop has all sorts of great delights, light fresh food including, salads, quiches, wraps as well as some cakes/muffin treats... Am excited by their homemade lemonade offerings! I had a flat white which is the best I've had in Antwerp so far, a shy or two away from my hot Dublin spots but all the same, a fine cup of coffee and presented in a glass making it feel all that bit more special, in fact, some would say, showing off the Flat White in all it's glory! The roof terrace alone would make you wanna come here... Plenty of space out here, from tables to benches to pallet furniture lounges, there is a space for everyone here. It's buzzing with people of all sorts, those getting some work done, some friends meeting for a catch up... the random tourist like myself.. haha! Because I couldn't find a comfortable spot to sit while I was reading (I switched places 3 times) Coffeelabs loses a star from me. At this time already more people queued up behind us. Menu was simple, which made it easy for us to order. We ordered the egg benedict with bacon/ham, and egg benedict with spinach, soup of the day (it was yam soup) and some drinks. Food arrived in 5-10min and oh mine everything was delicious down to the artisan bread that accompanied the soup. Quite the hearty brunch that we needed to warm up from rain and power through the rest of the day. Service was friendly and attentive. Highly recommend.

Pretty much everything on the menu is on display and if you only know English, everything is written out (including the pricing). Since I wasn't too hungry, grabbed a mini pasta that came with bread. The pasta was yummmmmm. Got the vegetarian option where it was mostly cheese and veggies and by the end, I was doing my mini happy food dance. Other selection of food includes: sandwiches, soups, salads, etc etc. Prices here are pretty reasonable that ranges around 4-12+ EUR. Since water is often charged everywhere, it was quite the delight to see freeeee water offered if you dine in. Free wifi is provided and if you have kids, there are quite a few toys and crayons scattered about to keep them busy. Then I realized that everything about 22B was good just because of where it was and what it was. An absolute must for vegetarian or vegans in Antwerp and very easy for those who only speak English. The place is absolutely cosy (so much better than cozy), it is decorated nicely with a variety of table sizes, cool lights and open flow. The absolutely delicious food is made constantly and then put into a case and labeled so you can walk in and see what looks good and take it. They will heat it up for you and deliver it to your table after you pay. The food was scrumptious. Both the Philadelphia (zalm, cream cheese, greens) sandwich and the veggie meatballs in noodles and curry were out of this world and left us wanting another plate of something. We talked to Mark and a nice lady at the front who both helped us out with some recommendations and minor translations and were so helpful and nice. Located in an off-the-beaten path area near the hospital, 22B is a welcome oasis for the health conscious in Antwerp. When I return this summer, 22B is the first place I want to eat at. You don't have to be vegan or vegetarian to appreciate this place, but if you are, you will appreciate it even more.
