The frontage to this retail shop is beautiful, but a little unclear as to what the shop merchandized. So my curiosity peeked I walked in and was pleasantly shocked at a gorgeous visual display of cute, pepto-pink, knick knacks that one would purchase for bachelorette parties, girlfriends birthdays, themed girls night out accoutrements, etc. Whoever set up the merchandising displays for the store really has done a beautiful job catching a buyer's eye! Additionally, there was a cozy corner designated for those who wish to purchase custom stationary or wedding invitations. Very cute little store indeed.
However.......
There was one, off putting moment of customer service awkwardness upon the first 2 seconds of my happy visual intake of this great little shop. Apparently, I had violated this salesperson code of retail store ethics by entering the shop 2 minutes prior to close. Thusly this salesperson felt it necessary to express loudly in front of the current paying patrons...
Salesladyreadytogohome: 'Can I help you?' (Expressed in an irritated, overly loud tone)
Me: 'No thank you just looking!' (Smiling, knowing intuitively she wanted me to be intimidated and leave, and thereby allowing her to make her prompt exit as well)
Salesladyreadytogohome: 'I am closing in a couple of minutes so....' (So...what exactly....? Get the hell out? Umm, disgruntled much?)
Me: 'It's ok; I will only be a moment.' (translation - I am not intimidated by your intent to embarrass me in front of the patrons at the counter in any way shape or form...thank you very much)
I continued to peruse the sweet little items in the store for several more minutes as promised, feeling the Salesladyreadytogohome's irritated glare burning a hole in my back as she rang up the last of her patrons, and then, to the great happiness of this aggravated person behind the counter, I left without purchasing any of the little things that had been so lovingly displayed for just that purpose. Hmmmnnn, kind of a contradiction of intention especially for small business owners in this economy.
Perhaps this was a once in a lifetime incident, (although it felt well practiced), and as such, feel free to patronize this adorable little shop with the expectation of phenomenal customer service. But if you receive anything less than this expectation, you can't say I didn't warn you. I will go back to this store to take a more in depth look at the stationary section at some point and will re-review my experience at that juncture. But for now, a cute little stationary store at 5 stars gets a 3 due to Salesladyreadytogohome's not so stellar customer service. read more
