As a first time…read morehomebuyer, Cross Country Mortgage did not make my dream of purchasing my first property anywhere near what I thought the experience should be. To begin, the first representatives I spoke with conducted an over the phone interview with me where they seemed very genuine and determined to be very transparent and communicative. After that initial conversation I did not hear back from that representative again for almost two weeks. When I called to inquire where I was in the loan process I was told he was out of the office and they did not have an ETA on when I would receive an update on the status of my approval letter. My realtor got me in contact with a different representative and the loan process moved forward from there. The rest of my loan process was hit or miss. I was timely with providing them with the documents they requested however, they did not make it a priority to respond to my phone calls, voicemails or emails. The most traumatic part of my experience was that I was provided with a Closing Disclosure on 6/11 which showed my cash to close and itemized my closing costs. My expected closing date was 6/15. My realtor and I reached out repeatedly to ensure they had everything they needed to make my closing day smooth and the day before closing they stated for some unbeknown reason they hadn't finished the paperwork and I had to push closing back by two days. This was not only disappointing but I'm a teacher so it posed an issue with me having to try and find coverage for my classes at the last minute with the date change. Late on 6/14 I received a call stating there was another change and we were clear to close. Only having revived the Closing Disclosure from 6/11 I took those numbers and wired the outlined cash to close to the title company and showed up to closing. During closing the title company showed me an updated Closing Disclosure that I NEVER received from Cross Country so I was still unable to officially close because the cash to close I wired was almost $2000 short of what I was informed of. (I don't have an issue with the numbers changing however, I believe as soon as the title company was provided with an updated Closing Disclosure I should have been provided with that information as well.) I was also surprised to find that Cross Country had rolled credit card payments into my loan which had already been paid off causing me to spend out extra money during closing that I now have to wait to be reimbursed from the credit card companies. At no point in time did cross country ever disclose rolling over credit card payments into my loan and my realtor as well as the sellers realtor both said that this was a practice that they had never heard of before. I honestly feel that after my experience with this company I was discriminated against as a black woman and taken advantage of. I would never recommend this company to anyone, not even my worst enemy.

He assured me that one of his assistants made a mistake and he sent me a new estimate with much lower closing costs. Fast forward a couple of weeks and after asking at least 15 times for our final costs we finally got it out of them as we were driving to sign final docs. We turned around and went home when the number they quoted was curiously close to the original estimate. I asked the broker about the revised estimate and he said "what revised estimate". When I got home and emailed the revised estimate to him he said "yeah, but you didn't sign it". My mistake for not signing it but I made a bigger mistake by selecting Bayburg Financial in the first place. I have done over 12 mortgage loans in my life and Bayburg Financial takes the cake as the "worst ever".

Our experience with Service Finance has been extremely disappointing, especially when we needed…read morehelp disputing a loan connected to our solar battery purchase through Top Tier Solar Solutions. We disputed the financing because we believe we entered into the agreement based on representations made during the sales process that were not ultimately honored. We contacted Service Finance and filed complaints because we were hoping the lender financing this purchase would take our concerns seriously and help us reach a resolution. Instead, we have felt stuck between the financing company and the solar company. After Top Tier told us they were going to resolve the situation by paying approximately $11,000 toward the roughly $22,000 Service Finance balance, we believed progress was finally being made. However, that payment has not appeared on our Service Finance account. Service Finance has not called us to meaningfully discuss what has happened or provide a resolution. The communication we received essentially asked whether Top Tier had resolved the issue. Unfortunately, they have not. That is incredibly frustrating when you are dealing with a loan of this size. As the company financing the transaction, we expected more assistance and communication after formally raising concerns about how we were induced to enter into the financing agreement. We are now having to continue pursuing complaints because the underlying dispute remains unresolved. Based on our experience, we would strongly recommend that consumers carefully review every financing document, get every promise from the seller in writing, and understand what assistance the lender will actually provide if there is a dispute with the merchant. We simply want this situation investigated properly and resolved fairly. At this point, we are extremely disappointed with the level of assistance and communication we have received from Service Finance.

Our mortgage broker was not attentive and we didn't get information about our loan unless we contacted her. Her loan processor, Michael was incompetent and made careless mistakes (using my social security number on a request for my business tax returns instead of my tax ID number), asking us for information that was provided months ago; which ultimately resulted in delays in the process. Every time I attempted to voice my concerns to our mortgage broker, Kim, she was condescending and combative. Our closing was today at 3pm and we didn't get closing disclosures until 1:30. We had no idea until 1 1/2 hours before closing, exactly how much we needed to close. We ran around scrambling all day. Had Academy stayed on top of our loan and efficiently communicated with us, the process would've gone a lot smoother. We finally closed today, after being given 4 different closing dates. Honestly, we were more ecstatic about not having to deal with Academy Mortgage anymore than the closing of our new home. I am a real estate agent and based upon the way I was handled, would never refer any of my potential buyers to them. The only reason I selected 1 star is because it doesn't allow 0!
