We visited here on a Friday, February 4, 2022, at approximately 7:30 PM. No patrons were in the restaurant. We were greeted by a man, behind the counter watching television, and a waitress who told us to sit anywhere. The menu is a mish mash of American bbq and Mexican food. It's a very expansive menu featuring "Tenacious Tacos", "Smoked Sensations" and "Booming Burgers". With those adjectives in the menu, you'd figure it'd have to be good. Unfortunately, my salad still had icicles clinging to the lettuce. Like they literally took it out of the freezer and threw it on a plate. The ribs were old, they fell off the bone, but they weren't fresh. The rub had some hard particles in it that felt like sand in my mouth. The onion rings were hot and definitely the best thing on my plate, which was sad because I really like good ribs. My wife liked her brisket tacos and said they were passable. We waited a while for a refill of water because the waitress was talking to the man for a long time. As I mentioned before, we were the only ones in the restaurant. Overall, for me, this wasn't a very pleasant experience and we paid $30.19 for a less than appetizing dinner. read more

Stopped in for a late lunch Had the entire restaurant to ourselves We ordered a full rack of ribs French fries and onion rings to share The ribs were moist, tender, and full of flavor! The dry rub was so delicious you didn't need the barbecue sauce but the barbecue sauce was a plus. It was very spicy and not too sweet.. The French fries were just as I like them,cut potatoes fried to perfection. The Onion rings were also fried to perfection in a fluffy flower breading. Don't order the Menudo you'll get ripped off When I called in the order, the guy told me a medium would be plenty for a meal Not even I'm afraid to ask how small the small is For the price they charge really not worth it and then there's no cilantro and no oregano but hey, they offered me more lemons. What are they want me to do make my own lemonade too I am a truck driver and after driving all day long from California thinking I was going to get a good meal. Driving to Las Cruces from Az and drove into Deming for dinner for my family of 6. No restaurants where were open. This place was posted to be open til 9. Arrived at 8:30 pm with very hungry kids. Door was locked and staff inside. While we were looking for places to possibly eat at in Las Cruces, a man from outside came to the door, opened it, and proceeded to check out a guy who was still in the restaurant. Delicious southwest style food, huge portions, personable staff and great prices. We had huge appetites and still had leftovers.

This turned out to be a great place for a tasty lunch while driving west on I-10. Although its a really simple cafe with just one waitress/server/cashier, their food is really good and a very good value. I enjoyed the sliced sausage platter with two sides ($14) - which was more nicely barbecued sausage than you can eat in one meal. My other half had the smothered chicken burritos with rice. Chips and salsa verde are served while you're looking at the menu. A great lunch for two with cokes for $30. read more

Stop in because of an I-10 closure and we were looking for a place to eat. The Cactus Cafe in Deming was great. The people are very friendly, the food was outstanding. The chefs have this smokey bbq thing down solid. You won't leave hungry or bankrupt. I've had the traditional breakfast of eggs with home-made hashbrowns and corn tortillas; a burger with bacon, swiss cheese and mushrooms - added the side of lettuce, tomato and pickles (crisp and tart); shredded bbq chicken with fried onion rings (totally the best!); ended every meal (except the breakfast) with a huge dense slice of cheese cake (cherry, lemon, raspberry and - wait for it - caramel pecan OMG!). As I bit into the Daniel's Dyno Burger I had ordered, my eyes began to swell with tears. The buttery grilled cheese bun softly melted on the top of my mouth as my tongue graced majesty of the double patty innards of the burger. I continued to eat my meal while making quite a few ungodly noises that I simply could not contain. This experience was the perfect way to change my Thursday night from average to extraordinary. Im not a local, so it's all good. However, if you are going to call your Ribs a half rack or a full rack, you really are lying. You should be honest and call it what it is a 3 Rib plate or a 6 rib plate, but please dont insult your guests and call that a rack of ribs. I'll leave my opinion of the taste to myself. I'd like to dig into the service a little, too. Not 1X did she refill out beverages. Food was a 5/10. I'm not sure why the $25 Rack of ribs said 2 sides, and then i was charged N additional $1.99 for my Onion rings like that was an upgrade.... gosh, here i go, and i didn't want to get started... Cactus Cafe in Deming, New Mexico, is my favorite restaurant, within the city. When the missus and I enter we are greeted, and promptly seated. They know us there, and bring the beverage of choice, generally iced tea. The servers are all very friendly. The owner is Dave, and he always has a pleasantness about him. Everything is Home Made. Meaning made there at the restaurant. It's mostly Mexican dishes, they make, but I'm partial to the Salmon. Omega 3's..know what I mean? The wife likes the brisket burrito plate. read more

Passing through town on a road trip and wanted to eat somewhere local. Read some reviews about this place so we figured we would try it out. We were seated immediately as we were the only 2 customers in the whole place. We ordered the tacos and the brisket plate. Tacos were pretty good and had good flavor. The brisket was pretty good, a little dry but the bbq sauce was good. Overall service was good, food was pretty good and wouldn't have a problem eating here again. Stopped while traveling, which is always a crap shoot. This one was 7's Grenn Chile was famrastic.. and, well.. this is what I thought of the menudo. The tripas was so tender that I could cut it with my spoon. Next time.. and there WILL be a next time, I will ask for a straw in addition to the spoon. read more

The waitress was really nice but the food needs help. I ordered ribeye with enchiladas and my friend got red pork. Everything had to much salt. The Beans were even salty. My steak had way to much seasoning could not enjoy the steak flavor. They need to use less salt and if it's not enough the customers can add it themselves. read more

I am absolutely blown away, this morning my family and I went to check out Cactus cafe since we read good reviews, however that is not what we experienced in fact we had to walk out due to the service. We knew what we wanted to order but waitress said just getting drinks now so I asked could we get the chips and guacamole with drinks but we were ready when she was to give our order. She dropped drinks and a cup of guacamole but no chips. She mentioned guacamole was spicy and she would make the boys a small one. We waited with guacamole no chips for over 20 mins no mild guacamole ever came. Place was pretty empty but with 3 workers standing talking to chef. A group of 4 people walked in sat and she took their order as I waited for her to take ours. She never came another 10 mins (40 mins) sitting with just drinks and guacamole no chips to eat with. She delivered chips to the table of the other group. I then asked where our chips were and her response was "we don't serve chips before 10am unless you ask" ummm I ordered the chips and guacamole off the menu??? She said ohhh I'll do it this time wtf?? What!? Then still did not take our order... I finally got up to tell her we are ready again and walked to the front desk and she stood on the phone for another ten mins while I stood there the other women just standing talking to chef in kitchen. They then served the table who came after us never acknowledging me or us!! I threw $10 for our drinks and guacamole left absolutely so disappointed I was looking forward to trying the food but I need to feed these hungry boys so IHOP is were we are sitting with the best friendliest service we have had.
