Having sold our large family home we were in wait mode for our new home build to be completed. John and Danielle were so gracious as we extended our stay plus moved to a larger casita to spread out a bit more. The casita (#6) had everything we needed. Two bedrooms, two baths, a full kitchen, dining room, and sizable comfortable living room. Our Dog Cooper enjoyed the freedom of the back yard plus nightly walks around the sizable property. While we didn't use the pool it looked inviting and had a nice cabana resort feel with lots of shade and lounges with curtains to divide sections for privacy. We will be recommending this lovely historical resort to all our friends. Check it out, it's a hidden gem but it won't stay hidden for long! Comfy beds with ample closet space in each room plus an overstuffed chair to relax in. Good lighting all throughout the home. Nearby activities ヘ Central to all Sabino Canyon activities as well as a trek up to Mount Lemon, not far to go for a fun outing downtown. Easy access to groceries, basically close to any/all shopping necessities Safety ヘ Ample lighting all through the resort. Locking security gate for after hours coded access only. We felt very safe while here in our casita. We even had a locking security screen door so we could grab the occasional evening breeze. Ample lighting all through the resort. Locking security gate for after hours coded access only. We felt very safe while here. Our casita even had a locking security screen door, too hot for us at the time to take advantage of a breeze but could see how nice it would be in the right season. Walkability Little too hot during our stay (july/aug) to venture outside the property on foot, but we enjoyed sunrise and sunset walks around the property pretty much daily. Food & drinks Beautiful setting. Trees in particular are absolutely stunning! Large grassy area for outdoor fun, lots of covered space for large events or family gatherings, nice walking paths, ample lighting and it appeared every casita had some level of personal yard space which is priceless when traveling with a pet or kids. Fun history on the welcome book to deepen the sensation of being part of the life the resort initially started with as one of Tucson's original ranches so many decades ago.

Where do I begin? This gem is almost too good to share (I want to keep it to myself...hahaha)…read more The proper thing to do is to share this amazing property with the world! The owners are helpful and available for whatever you may need. The grounds are phenomenal and beautifully kept. There is so much to do, from Pickleball to swimming or the life-size chess board (right near the hammocks). It's gated, it's private, and they even have an EV charging station. I could write a novel about all the wonderful things, and I cannot wait to go back. And for those of us who hate bringing dirty clothes home in our suitcases, they have two (2) laundry rooms! Everything is so thoughtfully done.

We were the only guest at the time and the quiet was wonderful. The space was clean; the bed was very comfortable; there was full bath and kitchen (fridge had trouble keeping things cold, never got above 45 degrees so take a good ice chest). The kitchen amenities were perfect for making breakfast and a couple of dinners during our 5 night stay. It was nice to have access to a TV but they do need to replace the swivel head which is broken and the TV is at a 45 degree downward angle. We propped it up with a roll of paper towels!! It worked. The outdoor space around the koi pond is so tranquil and pleasant that my husband and I hung out in our PJ and had coffee every morning. At night it was a great place to take in the stunning night skies. If you time it right you get ti watch Karen feed the giant koi Karen was very good at guiding us to the wineries and I can't thank her enough for recommending the Sonoita winery whose MeCaSah wine is truly an award winner. We also went the Vera Earl Beef which sell aged beef..so good. Also of note is the Copper Brothel Brewery where I had the best chicarrones ever and I don't want to leave out The Corner Scoop for the best breakfast burritos. All in all it was so enjoyable and hope to return.

The suite itself was beautiful, we stayed in the Agave (each of their rooms have a desert themed name) and we really enjoyed the large private balcony overlooking the desert on the back of the room. On the front there was a shared balcony with one other suite where we had a perfect sunset view and talked with the people staying next door and shared Tucson experiences and local business recommendations. They have a large collaborative living room and kitchen as well as a shared pool and multiple rooftop balconies for panoramic desert views and mingling with other guests. We struggled to open the keypad to the main living room and within minutes the owners Sarah and Rich were helping virtually and their on site manager Mariah came over to let us in. I absolutely recommend this beautiful desert experience! Looking forward to staying again soon.

Very high on my list of places i can't wait to visit again...This 49,000 acre preserve, managed by…read morethe Nature Conservancy, offers overnight accommodations in a remote, peaceful setting. Be forewarned this is NOT a full service hotel and there is a very long list of rules/guidelines for staying here which are strictly enforced. Reservations are required WAY in advance if you hope to get a casita here, and the ranch is closed to visitors during the hot summer months due to rattlesnake activity. But (if you are still reading...) if you are pretty self sufficient, willing to pack in all of the food and drink for your stay (the nearest safeway will be an hour away down a dark, pothole filled dirt road) and in search of a rare respite completely immersed in the natural beauty of southern Arizona, then this place is well worth the journey. Muleshoe Ranch is located at the southern end of a 50 mile riparian nature preserve, at the convergence of three rivers in the Galiuro mountains. You can climb mountains, explore the terrain, hike through shady riverbeds or do all of the above in a single day. Your self guided adventures can range from an easy nature trail to a half day loop (Beth Woodin Trail, which is spectacular) or a 4 wheel drive expedition into the backcountry. The landscape changes with the seasons and at night there's some of the best stargazing you'll find anywhere. Wildlife abounds, and includes many species of hummingbirds as well as elusive troops of ring tailed coatimundi. Wildflowers are abundant in the springtime and the streambeds teem with life. The casitas (actually 4 casitas round a grassy courtyard) and a little stone house down the hill are available for overnight rental. Very comfortable accommodations with beds and fully equipped kitchens. Some of the casitas have a living/dining room area with futon sofas that convert into additional sleeping accommodations. There are plenty of little outdoor seating areas to rest and relax. There is an outdoor deck for stargazing and wildlife viewing, as well as a common room for socializing with other guests. Nearby there is a visitor center and a small gift shop which are open to day visitors during limited hours. The icing on the cake are the two outdoor natural spring fed hot (very hot!) tubs crafted from round galvanized cattle troughs, which are only available to overnight guests. Before or after a strenuous day of hiking they are heavenly! Be sure to visit the Nature Conservancy/Muleshoe website and read through all of the details about a stay at Muleshoe to decide whether it's right for you. It is a very special place off of the beaten path of tourist travel.
