Got a good deal on my GMC Canyon live out of town haven't been back seems like any other dealership the sales people seem OK

I bought a Chevy equinox from there and it is a nice vehicle except it's got no power cuz it's 4 cylinder it. The oil apparently needs checked often to prevent low oil and possibly blowing the motor. I woke up on Friday and the car wouldn't start so a tow came and got it because they had y vehicle and when I got back I test drove a couple more but they were too expensive so they told me if I kept this car they would fix everything on it. I told him the muffler needs fixed, the brakes need fixed, the battery (obviously)and the tire pressure sensor needs fixed. I got told they put it on the machine and the error they got was only saying the battery was bad (diagnostic machines don't do that). Out of all that they only replaced the battery and finally on day 4 of purchasing the car they fixed the tire pressure sensor. They said if they fixed the muffler it would make the price of the car go up meaning they knew it was bad. I wanted to know what made the battery go bad and so I had it put on diagnostic machine from my mechanic and it is a bunch of things that all connected to the body control module and that it is going bad. I relay that to my rep and he just blows me off. It's an $500- $1500 fix!!! Don't buy a car from here unless you expect to spend at least $20,000. read more

I am writing this review to document an extremely unprofessional and misleading experience with Cable Dahmer Buick GMC of Independence. I purchased a 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4 for over $91,000. During the sale, the salesman, Frank, told me I was not allowed to use my grandfather's legitimate GMC employee discount, despite my grandfather working over 40 years on the GMC production line and the benefit extending to family. I was pressured to pay full price under the claim that multiple buyers were "ready to buy." Frank also advised me to purchase the truck personally and later transfer it to my roofing company, a process he suggested repeating for future business vehicles. That transaction alone took over six hours. Just over a year later, I returned and purchased two more vehicles: * 2024 GMC Sierra 2500 Denali ($10,000 down) * 2024 GMC Yukon XL Denali ($5,000 down) That transaction took over eight hours. I followed all maintenance requirements to protect my extended warranty. When my Sierra 2500's heater and mirror sensor modules failed, what should have been a routine warranty repair turned into a 27-day delay. I received inconsistent information and was eventually told the repairs were denied because I supposedly had the "wrong" extended warranty. I was never offered a commercial warranty at purchase. Only after weeks of back-and-forth, and after stating I would leave a detailed review, did finance manager Mike ("Big Mike") agree to upgrade the warranty and cover the repairs. During the delay, I lost a $16,000 roofing job because my work truck was unavailable. I requested reasonable good-faith remediation (tires and brake pads) due to the financial loss. I have received no response. I was also told by Mike that if I left a bad review, he would leave one on my company's page -- an unprofessional and retaliatory response. Despite being a repeat customer who spent well into six figures, I was met with poor communication, misinformation, and zero accountability. Contractors and business owners should be aware of how warranty issues are handled after the sale. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this dealership. read more

Worst service ever. They do not respect your time. I had and appointment at 11a.m. for an inspection on 12.18.25 I got there early at 10.30a.m. I was still there waiting at 3p.m without then actually doing the inspection. I had to leave without the service I needed because they never communicate with me about anything just had me waiting. They could have at least came out and said something to me as to why I was there waiting from 11am to 3 pm . If they make appointments they should honor the appointment or if they know they are running over on time they should come out communicate, or reschedule instead of making people wait hours with no communication read more

My experience at Cable Dahmer Buick GMC of Independence was extremely stressful and confusing, and this review reflects only my personal experience and perceptions. I dropped off my 2016 Buick Encore on Oct 24, 2025 for a diagnostic that cost over $1,000. I was told I would get my quote Monday morning, but on Oct 27 I was told there was an IT issue "only on my account," then later told by a manager that several customers had the same issue. The conflicting information made me uneasy. I never received an electronic quote and had to go in person. On Oct 28 I was told repairs would cost over $18K, which in my opinion seemed unusually high. I bought a car elsewhere. When I returned on Nov 14 to pick up paperwork and remove my plates, I asked about selling my Buick. A salesperson met with me, left me waiting about 30 minutes, then took me outside, away from employees, covered his dealership logo, and said "This is me" while offering $250. In my perception, this felt unclear and unsafe. He then told me I needed to drive him to McDonald's in my BMW to sign the title because it "couldn't be signed on company property," which to me was a major red flag. I gathered my things, told him I needed to make a call, and left for my safety. I reported it to HR, who said management was aware, but when I arrived, the manager claimed he had no idea what was happening. The conflicting statements added to my concern. The salesperson approached me again inside in a way that felt uncomfortable to me. Management said he had "permission," but the explanation did not match what I personally experienced. I no longer felt comfortable selling the car there. On Nov 19, a junk car service legally purchased it for $700 instead of the $250 offered. In my opinion, the inconsistent communication, unclear boundaries, and the off-site title request created an experience that felt unprofessional and unsafe. I hope future customers document everything and keep all transactions on-site and on the books. read more

I am going to share my experience with Cable Dahmer Buick of GMC of Independence and car salesman Peter Griffith. They will lie first of all to any verbal agreement and then add the cost into the price of the contract later. They said that there cost for Paint Protection Film was $2,800 rom Midwest Tinting. I called Midwest Tinting and the cost was $1,600 for the same coverage. They tried to include the cost of the window tinting and all weather mats into the cost of the Paint Protection Film. They stated they would cover the cost of the tinting and all weather mats since I didnt negotiate the price down on the new suv. This was a lie and they tried to add it in the cost of the PPF which they said was their cost. Plain out lied about that. Next when you go to finance they try to add all these extra service plans that are way higher than they actually cost them. They lie about the cost of those service contracts as I have shopped around and those costs are lower than what those plans cost they sell. I am cancelling all 3 service contracts agreements that I purchased as I have a right to do so within 30 days. I will be mailing via certified mail to the obligor, administrator and dealer as well as emailing Peter stating I am canceling. I will also hand deliver the cancelation Thursday as well to the obligator and administrator. They also won't get you the best finance rate for a vehicle as I found lower rates by half a percent online with the exact same lender they used, so they are adding a half percent to give to the dealer rather than you go out and find your own financing. Do yourself a favor stay away from this dealer and especially the con artist salesman Peter Griffith. He basically said his boss would honor my request if I wrote a good review but when I pressed him to reply in writing with the agreement of providing the all weather car mats and tinting of my windows he never replied. I will take my vehicle to another GMC competitor to have it serviced closer to my home as well. I gave this dealership ample opportunity to do what is right, but obviously they care more about other things. Dont buy a car from this dealership you will regret it, I wish I hadn't. read more

This review is to let everyone know about the amazing service I received from the rep Jeff Babbitt, I believe his name is. I had an issue with my car and had been going through some pretty frustrating circumstances. I had just made my appointment that day of and was able to be seen at 11:30am as requested. He was very friendly and polite and really took the time to listen to me. He ran a diagnostic as my car was shaking and had a whole bunch of error messages up. Turns out, that since I was driving on a really muddy and rocky road, it just threw me out of alignment and got the undercarriage dirty. What I THOUGHT would be thousands was just a little under $300 for the diagnostic AND the alignment. This in addition to the fact that my vehicle is almost brand new! A Buick Encore GX 2020 with less than 2500 miles. He called to update me on the status so I was always informed and I was able to get it by the next day. I highly recommend this place and ESPECIALLY Jeff B. I didn't go to my regular dealer due to their awful service. I am so glad and relieved to see I made the right choice. Thanks! read more

First and last time customer. I am a very patient person that has worked in customer service myself and I always give the business the benefit of the doubt but I was highly disappointed with their service. I was originally quoted at $1600 then it went up to $1800 once they started working on it. Right before they gave it back to me they said "well we just noticed these wires are melted so we can't promise that the part we just replaced will stay working for very long so we suggest you spend $600 to replace these wires." I took my chances because i didn't have $2400 to spend when I was quoted at $1600. When I got my vehicle back not only did they not even fix my AC but in fact I had an additional problem with it now too. I remained patient and called to see what could be done since I just spent a bunch of money and immediately had problems. They told me that the part they replaced was under warranty but that it would cost me almost $200 in labor to replace it and that they still recommended that I also spend $600 to replace the wires and in fact they also now notice that my thermostat needs replaced too and that's going to be even more. At this point my original quote of $1600 has doubled to $3200 in total to get this original problem fixed. Neither Nick or his boss Dale had any kind of help or customer skills to offer....purely trained to swindle. I just ate the money I spent on the first visit and demanded my car back without them touching it anymore. I could have made my AC work less on my own without having had spent all that money. Of all of my Yelp reviews I am positive that this is my first negative one and I hope it to be the last. Guaranteed to not be a repeat visitor to this place and would not recommend to anyone. My elderly mother took her car into Cable Dahmer on Thursday and paid $125 to have her car diagnosed for a check engine light. She was given a receipt, no diagnosis information and was told the issue was an oil pressure control valve. When she called back to ask for the part number, she was told that they weren't allowed to give her that information. After I googled the name of the part I found it cost less than $150 to replace the part including labor. She was quoted $315. Shame on you Cable Dahmer. Buyer beware! Scammed for $13,000!!! This dealership will scam you on your trade. Was completely taken advantage of because of an accident and the need to trade in my vehicle. They told me that they would not be able to sell it on their lot and that the vehicle would have to go out to the wholesale market because of the level of damage on the trade-in. I am so sorry that I bought a car from here. They ran my credit 9 times, stated the would bring a temp tag to our house, which never happened, and then stated they would come and pick up the dealer plates. I just received a phone call from the sales person stating if they didn't get the tag back, they would be filling a police report that it was stolen. We were told at least 3 times, they would swing by the house with the temp tag, since another sales person lives blocks away from me. The service department are scammers! Took my vehicle in because my gas cap light came on then went off, then my engine light came on. They told me that they ran a smoke test and it was a leak in my gas cap and filler neck. They told me 256 dollars. 3 weeks later the same issue occurred. The guy at the counter name Jaren Friend told me that he would not charge me for a diagnostic. they following day I finally get a call and they tell me that they ran another smoke test and now it is my canister purge valve and they want 301.00 dollars. I then told them not to do the work and that I will be going around to get quotes because something wasn't sitting right with me. After I told them not to do the work. then Jaren tells me that I owe $111.00 dollars for the diagnostic. I then remained him that "you said that you would not charge me for the diag. He then says "I said only if it was the same issue." I was pissed. I then found my receipt from the last work I had down with the last job and realized they charged me $256.00 for a 30 dollar gas cap. I also saw on the receipt that no smoke test was done and that they noted that all they did was replace the gas cap and scrape off rust from my filler neck (which I checked and the rust was not scraped off, I'm pretty sure the cap was not replaced either) I then called my boyfriend and told him everything, he then told me that he would call them. Upon him talking to them for less than 3 minutes, they agreed to refund me for the recent diag. This is complete unacceptable, sexist, and I feel a true crime against vulnerable women. Too many time do these dealerships take advantage of women. I will be failing a complaint and I will tell everyone I know about it as well and contacting my attorney! read more

I took my car to Cable Dahmer when we hit a deer as we had purchased our car from them 2016 Buick Encore. The repairs were to have taken roughly two weeks. Continual delays due to wrong parts being ordered which delayed the completion time of my vehicle. My husband physically went out there three times to check on repairs and each time my car windows were open in the dusty body shop. Unsure why as there was nothing with my door or windows front end damage and right from fender damage he asked why windows were open guy mumbled something no reason really given. Which means my car got filled with shop dust for who knows how long. Not once did they call to advise our car would not be ready on expected day we had to contact them. When I was finally told almost a month later I could pick my car up the air conditioning was not working. Was told "oh we did not test drive it" again having to leave my car for another day. Asked if suspension was looked at and any alignment issues was advised no but as of today my steering wheel is sitting to the left which means there is some type of alignment issue that was not addressed. For almost $10,000 worth of repairs I expect it to be perfect. Not to mention my auto insurance had to pay for extra rental car days due to wrong parts being ordered more than once. I will not take my car back nor purchase a car from them again. Going to take it to another servicer and if it is out of alignment which I believe it is Cable Dahmer will get billed for that. Sad as our buying experience was great but the collision repair service was not and again for $10,000 it should have been perfect. read more

Key would not come out of the ignition. they spend 2 days of tracing wires back to something. not until day 2 when they couldn't fine any thing did they put it on the diagnostic machine. Why was that not the 1st thing they did every other time I bring in a car that is the 1st thing they do. Any way it was a blown fuse which the diagnostic machine would of told them that. They changed the fuse and the key came right out. They charged me $389.83 for a fuse and all the work they shouldn't of done if they would of just put it on the diagnostic machine. So no I'm not happy with them. read more

I am going to buy a car this week, so I went to Cable Dahmer to find out where I stood on the value of my Camaro Convertible RS. Sheryl, and the salesmen were great, the appraiser not so much. I told the salesman what I thought would be fair, since I had looked at the Black book, blue Book, and got values from my Credit Union. Without looking at the car they offer 3000 below wholesale, 2500 less then another dealer, and from what the salesman said it was because the car would have to be reconditioned We are talking about a 2014 Camaro Convertible with under 19 thousand miles, All service done at Cable Dahmer Chevrolet. Rare color combination, always Garaged. What's to re-condition I think the low ball was because the short end you on the .trade in to cover the warranty they are offering. To bad they can't get off their butts look at the car and offer what it is worth.
