Like any other Cabela's--what I mean to say here is: it is the sportsman/outdoors man's heaven! They definitely catered to that segment of the society. Not for me, though. We just happened to stop by at this location on our way from NoVA to Ohio. It was sort of mid-way point. We had lunch in town, and we had some time to kill, so we stepped in and looked around. If our kids were younger, they may have enjoyed their museum-like animal displays and/or live fish tanks. For me most things (clothing in particular) are over-priced, and they're not what I need or want. They have a cafe and food products on upstairs section. Some folks might be really interested in fudge they sell here. They looked and smelled really good. read more

After years of passing by this location, I finally got to stop in. No real complaints with Cabela's the business or this Cabela's location. The location is currently remodeling, but that will only last a short time. The challenge with Cabela's, whether this location or elsewhere, is that the price can be rather high compared to other businesses that carry many of the same products. If you buy clearance items, you are fine, but otherwise, you may find a hefty price tag at the register. Again, no complaints with Cabela's or this location, but it was just okay, not stunning or super outstanding. I will probably stop in again. read more

I'm not much into the guns and ammo thing, but the hubby is, so we stopped in here on our trip east. I usually wander around the store; they carry Woolrich, Columbia, Life Is Good and other clothing lines I appreciate. They also have a large shoe department and the "Bargain Cave" where you can find markdowns. Nice place to stop and stretch your legs on a trip. read more

Dirtiest Cabela's I've ever been to. Felt like I wasted time driving 5 hours to go here. Also, most of the customers are rude. They don't say excuse me and expect you to move out of their way when you're shopping. Oh and you can't even go to the gun counter without people bumping into you...waste of time. read more

I was in the area after a drive from Ohio over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. First, there is ample parking, a big deal since this store seems to be such a draw. Entry/exit from the interstate was very easy, which was also appreciated. The store...and "store" seems to be a misnomer as this place is huge...is pretty well laid out. It was very busy and navigating a cart was a challenge at times, but I didn't get into any traffic jams. The kids enjoyed the aquarium on the first floor, as did I. I don't fish but the fishing equipment selection seemed pretty thorough. I think I saw a big selection of camoflage clothing, but couldn't be sure because it was so well concealed. (little joke there, actually there is a lot of camo in all kinds of patterns.) The kids enjoyed the shooting gallery as well, but it seemed pretty pricey at fifty cents. The taxidermy on display, on the other hand, is creative and eye-catching. My kids liked seeing how tall a polar bear *really* is. We decided to eat lunch there instead of at the excellent (and nearby) Quaker Steak and Lube restaurant in the same parking lot. Unless you want the novelty of eating elk or bison, I say skip eating there if there's more than a couple of people in the snack area. The grill line moves very slowly, there's an awkward mess between the soda dispensers and the cashiers, and the food appears to be mass cooked and held for service in headed bain-maries. The prices are also somewhat high...I paid $12 for a double bison burger with fries and a medium soft drink. Even at that, the bison didn't taste like bison, something I think is due to the way the grill is holding their food. Seating itself is also a challenge, especially if you're with a largish group. There is no clear place in which to keep your shopping cart, so you either leave it to the side somewhere (hoping an employee doesn't clear it), take it to your table with you (where it blocks other seats) or just go there before you shop. Anyway, we enjoyed the camping gear selection and of course the hunting and firearms selections are first rate. I enjoyed looking in the gun library at some of the older and historic models. If you're in the area, or even if you're a couple of hours away, don't shop online...visit this store. Just have lunch/dinner at The Lube instead of the in-store restaurant. :) read more

Although this retail store is aimed for outdoorsmen, sportsmen or outfitters it sells merchandise to a wide variety of interest. The staff is professional and knowledgeable of the areas in which they are assigned and have no problem explaining a product or demostrating how a product works which is great for a guest who has no experience in outdoor living or looking to purchase gift for an outdoormens etc. Cabelas not only merchandizes but they build a personal connection between the store and its guest and provides educational learning for children. ( when applicable)This store is not only family friendly but any outdoor hobbiest dream as it provides a walk through of an aquarium, an antique gun libary, a scenic taxidermy room displaying a wide variety of animals ( whitetail world), an archery range, a fly shop ,a fudge shop with free samples, fishing, camping , hunting, home decor, shoe and clothing departments etc. and a Deli/Grill which is a small style resturant/cafateria located on the second floor with an authenic variety of cusine futuring Elk , Osterich, Bison etc.although the cafe could be left open longer. It normally closes approximately 2 hours before the store. Cabelas pricing at times can be overpriced but they send promotional fliers w addtional 10 to 60 dollars off coupons, and run promotional prices in store and if you are a bargain shopper they have Bargain Cave of discounted merchandise and with a little bit of searching and digging you may find something you might like. The merchandise in the bargain cave is returned and discontinued items; however once purchased you cannot return . The best part about this Cabelas ( as I have done this several times) is if an item is out of stock ,the staff can order that particular item at that warehouse located across the street where you the consumer can drive across and pick up the item at no extra cost and no hassle of ordering online or going home empty handed.( Great for for holiday shopping). The store and restrooms are clean and organized accept as in any retail store if there is busy foot traffic it may become bit messy. read more

Awful service at the gun counter. I stood there for 15 minutes holding my number and an employee whos name badge i believe said justice stood there and just ignored me. I cant believe that this kind of service is acceptable. As we were leaving another customer walked up to the counter and the same employee ignored them to. Something should be done about this negligent employee. As a former employee of cabelas i was taught that the customer always came first and to stop what i was doing to assist them. read more

This place is AMAZING! It has stuff I didn't even know existed, and even more stuff I didn't know I needed. If you are an outdoor enthusiast you will LOVE it here. Store as always was great. More camo, guns, and guy stuff than my boys and husband could look at. Had to lower my rating due to the food. We thought it would be quick, easy, and fun to grab lunch at the cafe there. I can not remember such an awful meal. While we will be back to shop we will never be back to eat. Cabelas in Wheeling/Triadelphia is hard to beat. Any item not in the store can be ordered and picked up across the street at the Distribution Center. I'm a really giant man and Cabelas carries 3XT which is hard to find. The guys in the fishing department are knowledgable and friendly. I took a fly fishing class there and it was top notch. My only complaint is the bargain cave. The prices in there can sometimes be higher than items currently on sale. IDK how this can be but nothing's perfect. Some people tell me Cabelas is expensive but I always buy my stuff on sale. A little persistence pays off. read more

I go down as often as I get a chance to, I enjoy looking at the large collection of shooting gear in one place. The staff is always helpful and very polite at least everyone I've dealt with. I stopped in yesterday to pick up a used firearm that I ordered in from a Cabelas store and the whole experience was quick and painless. The price was good and they even gave me an extra magazine since it only had one included. I won't lie their firearm prices are on the high side but if you wait they have frequent sales and coupons to get them down but I also look at the fact that they have a large inventory that allows you to handle everything you may want to side by side. It is always better to go on a weekday to avoid the crowds and it really is a destination trip at lest the first time for sure, just to take everything in. Enjoy. read more

Purchased a jacket on line and needed to return it. Because it was an item sent from the vender and not actually from Cabelas, I am not able to just return it. I am still waiting 2 weeks after the initial phone call to receive authorization to return the jacket. No where did it state this policy when I ordered it. Very disappointed. read more

We traveled three hours to get to this Cabela's on a Sunday and made it there three hours before closing. That was plenty of time for us to look around and to pick out and purchase a new firearm, which was the entire purpose of our long trip. We stopped by the firearms case when we first entered the store and the employees were busy with other people. No big deal, we had plenty of other stuff to look at in the store while we waited. After several trips around the firearms case, we figured out from the conversation happening that the one employee left was talking to what seemed like a friend of his that had no intention of buying anything. So we stood there and waited and waited and waited. Three hours later, I suggested that maybe the employee should help someone else that was actually there to buy a gun. I got a blank stare in return. So we left without spending the $400 to $1200 we had planned to spend at this store. During this frustrating trip, we were also asked four different times if we wanted to apply for a Cabela's credit card. Why would we need one when we can't get anyone to help us buy anything? read more

Cabela's has gone to the bottom since Johnny Morris bought it. The Wheeling store before the merger used to be packed 3 weeks before deer season. We went in Sunday and you could have shot a cannon down the aisle and not killed someone. The old Cabela's clothes were high quality, very nice. Now they have Johnny's Elcheapo Red Head junk. His emphasis is now fishing, toys, regular clothes and the stuff is junk. I used to live in Wheeling and the people said when the Cabela's brothers had it the Tour Buses just flocked there. Now they said they can't get any buses that even want to come. Well, no wonder. His sales aren't like what the old Cabela's used to be. It is I'll sell cheap junk at high prices and make me lots of money. It is a real shame. When I heard Johnny was buying Cabela's I said that's the end for them cause he'll do to Cabela's what he does to Bass Pro Shop. He did and it didn't take long. Surely he isn't that dumb that he can't look at the figures from when it was the old Cabela's and realize.... hey, sales are wayyyy down. Cabela's used to be my go to place to shop for hunting gear..... now it's my last. I can find everything I need elsewhere much cheaper and better quality elsewhere. Bait and switch scumbags. I ordered 2 rifle scopes they advertised online. After getting a confirmation email, both scopes on 2 separate orders were cancelled. My most recent visit to this Cabela's location was rather disappointing. Not sure about the rest of the store, but the archery department employees were not very helpful at all. We drove past several other sporting goods stores to get there since I knew they were equipped to handle my needs. The staff started by arguing who would help us, then finally asked what we needed. I needed my two girls measured and fitted for bows. After an eye roll or two we finally got measurements and after more grumbling while changing draw length cams, they were able to test fire a bow. By this time, both girls were ready to go since the "grumpy guy" didn't like them. We left without purchasing anything. read more

After 2 weeks of waiting for my new Sun Dolphin Sportsman 2 man fishing boat, it arrived damaged. I spoke to online customer support, the online support was very friendly and were willing to help me. They said that I could easily exchange my damaged item at any Cabela's and they would honor it without issue. Today I returned my damaged item to Cabela's in Tridelphia, (Wheeling) West Virginia. The female manager on shift bacame argumenative and gave me the assumption that she did not want to honor the exchange. She was hositle in her tone, snide with her remarks, and stated that it is not their responsibility to replace an item that was damged during shipping. (Not the polucy of Cabela's corporate office). After 30 minutes of argument and both her and I calling the corporate office, they finally honored the exchange, but not without hostility. I had driven 2 hours to go and exchange the item, which ended up taking a total of an hour, as the male manager I had previously spoken to on the phone at the store, told me that the exchange would not be a problem. I am very dissatisfied with my first and probably my last major purchase experience with Cabela's. I will certainly NOT return to this store with a member of management that chooses to argue with their customers and go against corporate policy, just because they don't like it. read more

I have a Cabela's black card for a number of years. Recently they have become irrelevant! They won't price match and the most recent incident, they wouldn't order a gun. How can you be a premier outfitter and not order guns? I was able to get Gander Mountain to order it and had it in 5 days. I have switched to a different cash back card and will be cancelling my Cabela's card. No wonder they were bought out. read more

I've been shopping at Cabela's for a long time and they have almost everything I could want. The customer service is always good and prices are fair. Being a club member helps accumulate point to later use on orders, which certainly helps. Only complaint would be to always have free shipping on orders over $50-$100 though. I mean c'mon everyone does. I'll place an order (paying for shipping) only to receive an email a few days later about free shipping. Awesome store. They have a lot of animals on display, plus a massive aquarium. You can find stuff you can't find elsewhere. My only problem is, the place is a bit expensive. If stuff is on sale, it's usually a good deal, but if you go through, you're likely to find stuff to be cheaper at Gander Mountain, but of course Gander Mountain has a very limited selection in comparison. Definitely worth a stop, but have a smart phone handy, because if you find an item you like, you're likely to find it cheaper elsewhere. read more
