Cabela's is a wonderland our outdoorsy fun/games/sportsmanship. Are you hunter? Gatherer? Fisher? Archer? Kayaker? Backpaker? Anything Elserer? Chances are they're going to have what you're looking for, and more than likely in stock. There are other outdoor lifestyle chains out there, but none that measure up to the outdoor/wilderness environment that Cabela's has. From its rustic, natural(ish) décor to the outdoor displays to wildlife exhibits, you really do get that "I feel like I'm out in the woods" vibe. While I've always been a fan of Cabela's, this summer we found that they carry my absolute favorite line of bird seed. I'm a birder and feed 6 to 8 different types of feed in my back year nearly year round, and the fact that they have my favorite brand (Harvest brand bird feeds), but A) in multiple varieties and 2) IN STOCK immediately made this my go-to place when I need bird seed. We used to have to visit 3 or more retail outlets to find what I needed, but not any more. The staff has been mostly cool when we've visited. One time we had a cashier named John (as I recall) who didn't care that we were there or not...we were obviously interrupting whatever he was doing on his phone. Usually good customer service but not this time! I found a few items marked on clearance in the bargain cave. The big sign right in front of the entrance says all items mark as is. So when I went to checkout one of the items didn't have a QR code so he had to look it up by sku but found find it in the system. Probably because it was the last one idk. After like 20 minutes of looking and not finding anything close they just picked a item that cost way more that originally marked and said this is the new price bc they couldn't match it in the computer with anything. I went to Cabela's/Bass Pro Shop to purchase a pistol. I had my boyfriend to go with me (he knows way more than I do about firearms). I do have my CDWL. They refused to sell me the pistol because he was checking it out for me. They said they would sell it to my boyfriend, but not me. They asked if we were married, which shouldn't make a difference. Then said we were "suspicious" because he was checking the firearm out more than I was (because he knows more!), which also should matter. Today I went looking for a sale item and customer service found a floor person to help me, but found something I liked even better. Then I went to look for boots. The fishing salesperson (Dave M.) was speaking to my husband, but he took me to the boot area, and proceeded getting me two pairs I wanted to see. He continued to help in fishing area, but came back to me also. I ended up with both pairs of boots, and he made sure I got the rebate form, which I almost forgot about. Overall, it was an exceptional experience, and wish all stores had these type of caring employees. read more

Dear Cabela's, The person pictured in this review should be permanently removed from ANY customer-facing position. This bitter, rude woman does not know the first thing about customer service. First, she looked right at my husband and I who were waiting in her line at least 5 min to ask a question, then as we walked up to her, she closed down her register and turned and walked away with an "I'm too busy for you" attitude. She left us there as the last and only people in "her" line, without a word. Abandoned. My husband followed her to where you see her pictured in this review, walked up to her, and asked if she could answer a question. Again, with an "I'm too busy attitude," she began yelling out names (with an "I hate my effing job" tone), and IGNORED HIM. So, he says, "Ma'am, I just want to know if you have any .223 ammo." She sighs audibly, looks up from her phone at him and snottily says, "We have what we have." She then turned away from him and yelled another name. This is the WORST type of person to put in front of customers. She's obviously miserable and hates her life, hoping to drag down others with her. If you decide to keep her in your employ (I highly recommend you do NOT), I'd suggest putting her in the stock room, and keep her away from people AND GUNS. Tis the season to shop in a variety of stores. I would not normally think of shopping at Cabela's because I thought it was simply a hunting and fishing store. Boy was I wrong! I came in this store on a spur of the moment because I had a medical appointment close by. My grandson collects all things moose so I came in to see what they may have. If my husband hadn't been in the car waiting for me I could have spent hours checking out this massive store. After finding multiple possibilities of things to purchase I decided to wait and check out all the presents I already had. This store is conveniently located near Norton Health Care complexes and Costco. It has plenty of parking so I will be back in the future. read more

We love coming here. My husband is an avid outdoorsman so he likes to come browse around here often. Our kids love to come and see the taxidermy and the giant fish tank. They offer women's, men's, and kids' clothes. They have camping gear, shoes, guns, hunting gear, you name it. It's truly a one stop shop for outdoors things. Our favorite time to come shop is around Christmas because of the good deals. There's also a great Santa for the kids to see. We've been customers for a long time and will continue to shop here. My only negative remark is that they aren't enforcing the current mask regulation. I saw many people without masks on which was disappinting. read more

Shopping at cabellas is more like shopping at Walmart there is literally no help at all, zero customer service, so I tried to shop on the online store, it's even worse! So I wanted to buy a kayak on line and couldn't because there is a problem signing in, no customer service to assist so there goes a $1000. I absolutely love Cabela's! It's such a great store! I honestly didn't know Louisville had this location until this summer, and I was so happy when I found out. I have since been several times, and it's great! They have amazing selections of camping gear, bows, guns, fishing equipment, clothing, and so much more! B and I shopped at this location several times during the summer for fishing equipment. I ended up with a new pole and lots of smaller gear. Now that we're heading into winter I'll probably have a break in my Cabela's shopping; but, next summer I definitely plan to go for more items! Even if you're not really the "outdoorsy" type, Cabela's is awesome for gifts! And again, they have lots of clothing as well, and yes lots of it is geared towards camping and hunting; but, they definitely have jackets, shirts, hats, and clothing that's excellent for winter and skiing and such. They also have some neat jewelry, food stuffs, and other things you may not imagine in this store. Also, this is random but could come in useful for some, if you ever find yourself in this area and need an ATM they have one! I have stopped by to use it on occasion. I can't stress how much I love shopping here enough. The staff is always welcoming and friendly, and the store is always clean and organized. It may be that I am going in at the wrong times lately but the last couple of times I have been met with bored or disengaged staff. The store is interesting and there are tons f things to look at from the mounts and fish to the many departments that have tons of product. However, I find the store kind of erratic. Areas don't seem to always be in logical places or kind of zigzag. I don't know if it's just this Cabela's as I have not been in other locations in a few years. However, when in those other stores they seem better organized and presented. Still I love the store and I can spend far too much time looking around, sometimes fighting myself not to buy everything I see. Some may say the prices are high and they can be but I realize I'm also paying for expertise as the staff all seem to know what they are talking about or know how to find the right info. Also they are not afraid to point me to a competitor if they cannot get what I want. They don't just brush you off, several times I've had employees go out of their way to find out who is selling what I need. I would give the 5 stars but for the distracted employees. I've had several transactions where staff walked away in the middle of the purchase and left me standing and waiting for them to come back so I could check out. When I was there this week I was handed off to 3 people each of whom wondered off at some point leaving me standing there with half finished paperwork or transactions that required them to be engaged and the store was mostly empty. I expect a little better service from Cabela's than I have been getting lately, still it's the best outdoor sporting goods store around and far exceeds most competitors I have tried. read more

Anything and everything you might want or need, as an outdoors-person is here! The sections are broken out logically and there are employees everywhere waiting to help you. This was my first time ever in the doors of Cabela's. Color me all shades of OMG animals are every where looking at me!! I am not a hunter on any level. Heck, Ive never been camping. The closest I have ever been to camping is probably at a Holiday Inn with no blow dryer. Now, that being said...imagine the instant shock I experienced. I went for a Genesis Bow for my son and they were the only ones who had the exact one he wanted (he is in the archery club with a local church). The staff was so kind and helped me every step of the way. I think they could sense the fish out of water look on my face and knew I was way out of my normalcy...haha. They even put the case together for me and set everything up for me so that way I could surprise my son with it all together. They had me at "Free Pictures with Santa" but add in the cool activities for kids while you wait and the cool take away treat ( last year a stuffed animal, this year a Santa Cookie plate) and this is a holiday no brainer. What you need to know about Cabela's is that I prefer it to Bass Pro Shop. The brands Cabela's carries are of a higher quality and within those brands more kinds of items are stocked. Also, you don't have to go on a hunting expedition to find an employee that is both willing and capable of providing assistance. A higher quality experience over all. I love Cabela's. Their products are as good as big name brands without the higher cost. I recently purchased their guideware long sleeve sun blocker shirt for $20 and it works great. I loved it so much that I've purchased two more since getting the first one. I checked the Zuk comparable version and it was almost $50 Anyway this particular store is great for bargains. I can't tell you how many times I've shopped here and found some great sale or clearance deal. The store is huge and the selection of gear is great. If you haven't stopped by here I highly recommend doing so. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The store is well laid out and very clean(even the bathrooms are very clean). Regarding the big box outdoor stores, I'd much rather go to Bass Pro. I normally go to the small local shops when I need backpacking, hiking, or camping supplies. Sometimes it's fun to go to these big box outdoor stores because like any other big box store.. they usually carry a larger selection. I've found that the things I go after whether I buy them at a store like this or a local shop will usually be similar in price. That's obviously not the case with everything there. With Cabela's, I sometimes find it hard to locate certain items. I often have to wander around into other departments to find what I'm looking for that should be in an entirely different department! When it comes to the staff, they seem accessible if you need them, but they normally won't bother you unless you look completely clueless. I'll recommend Cabela's but if you want a more hands-on approach, take a trip to Green Earth Outdoors(the preferred) or Quest. One thing to note: They have a decent rewards program. I know some people that go there for almost everything when it comes to hunting and they get free stuff/money/deals ALL THE TIME! read more

Decided to give Cabela's a shot today and were a little underwhelmed. Upon entering first impression is that you are in a relaxing ski lodge. There is a huge fireplace when you walk in that is very inviting. The store is huge and there is a wide variety. The store is a little disorganized and to get help can be a challenge. We had to hunt someone down to get help in the shoe department. Checkout person was very friendly and nice but just left a little underwhelmed. Meh was my overall experience. 1) walked in with my boyfriend, and only HE was greeted. This is literally the worst Cabela's I've ever been too and I've traveled to many across the country. The staff is so unorganized and very slow to help. I even had other staff members apologize because they said the back of their store is a chaotic mess and they are very unprofessional. I ordered $300 worth of ammunition and waited 3 weeks for it to arrive. Once I got to Cabela's (three days before my final pick up date) they took almost 45 mins as I sat around to tell me that my order wasn't there and someone "new" must have put my order out for sale. AFTER I already paid for it online! I am livid. I can not find my 300 win mag ammunition OR 243 anywhere and I was supposed to go on an Elk hunt next week. I don't know what I am going to do and once the manager told me, she proceeded to just walked off which made me even more furious. I then had to call her back to the front of the store and she offered $25 for my troubles. What kind of bullshit is that when I ordered $300 of ammo and waited 3 weeks for them to give it away. Oh Cabella's! I want to love you so much but you are such a pain in my ass. I have been in several times trying to find a comfortable pair of hiking shoes. I pulled out several pairs to try (they are all out on a shelf, bend down and find your size) and went walking around the area to see how the first pair felt. When I came back, someone had put the other 3 pair I had pulled out back on the shelf. Seriously?? So my bright aqua tennis shoes sitting there didn't give away the fact that someone was trying on a pair of shoes and would come back? Hmmmm.... Anyway, I pulled them back out and tried them on. Then I needed to find someone to ask about a pair and lo and behold, NO ONE TO BE FOUND TO HELP. OMG. Come on! I had a similar experience the last time I was in the store so now I am wondering if they just try to make you crazy on purpose. Don't need anything - I'll be there to take away the items you are interested in! Need something? I'll disappear like a ghost! Bought a used gun from Cabela's in WV and had it shipped to this store. The staff did not call me when the weapon came in and when I asked about it, they told me it wasn't their responsibility to call me, but it was my responsibility to call them. When I inspected the gun, I asked if they had a bore light so I could see the barrel and was told they can't let me use theirs. I also asked to inspect the bolt and was told "no, you can inspect that once you take possession of the gun". I talked with a manager who gladly lent me his bore light to inspect the barrel. It had a large flaw in the barrel and when I asked about that, the gun guy told me that's the way they're made (not hardly). When I declined the purchase I was told I'd have my money refunded, and they short changed me on that too! Horrible customer service and will not be back. read more

This store has most everything hunting, fishing, or camping related. We came in looking for a crank for a cross bow- they didn't have it, but we were able to order it online from the store's website. There is a lot of stuff here I wouldn't expect in an outdoors store: turkey fryers, pajamas, stuff like that. But that is kinda nice since I usually come here for gifts. It's a huge place, with a lot to look at even if you aren't outdoorsy. The staff is helpful. I would recommend going here if you need more selection than other stores can provide. read more

The saying around Louisville about Cabela's is that "REAL gun owners don't buy from Cabela's". I've had Horrible experiences the few times that I've visited them. One of the highest priced stores I've ever seen. Retailers should not be allowed to mark up firearms (or anything else) more than the manufacturers MSRP but Cabela's will do it every time on the popular guns and some not so popular. But there's new and interesting stuff every time I walk in this door. They have lots of name brand things that are kind of pricey, but they would be at least that much anywhere else. The selection at Cabela's is nuts! Hiking boots and apparel, camping foldable utensils and sleeping bags, food dehydrators, archery supplies...I'd say there's not much you can think of in the outdoor realm that they don't have and/or offer in store. I went initially for camping gear with fam, then back for a tire inflator for our car. It's fun to browse. I'd be curious to cross-compare their prices further, but I'd say they're reasonable, and it's certainly beneficial to touch tangible objects rather than browse online. read more

This is your generic mega sporting goods store. My experience in the few times I have been to this location are not very good. They don't seem to have enough people working floor, because every time I am in here I have trouble finding the product I am looking for. One employee I found, was pretty rude to me when I was asking questions about some of the sunglasses they had in the case. However, this store is good if you are looking for the particular sporting goods product, especially camping and hunting gear. However for fishing gear, I'm better off going to a bass pro shop. read more

I have been fishing and hunting for the pass 50 years, and i have not ever needed a 9 MM or a 308 Pistol or a long range rifle to hunt with or fish with. The stores advertisement state they or for hunting and fishing and camping, and hiking.This booklet is full of gun and pistol ads, with very little fishing on the back page and some camping .I spend around $5000.00 a year in your stores,and if this is going to be your ads leave me out.
