1/12/09 We have been here twice in the past few weeks, once as a couple and once with the kids, for a lunch in the main restaurant.
In both cases the food was excellent and the service attentive. The overall price was extremely low.
The menu didn't change much, but the quality and presentation were very high, and it rivalled Digby Chick overall.
We intend to come back for dinner, and to check out the wine list but we have no hesitation in recommending this as an excellent lunch spot. (5/5)
1/2/10 We had dinner in the Cabar on Saturday night.
The food was of very good and excellently presented. The atmosphere was very good, with mixed parties of large family groups, couples and a massive girly night out.
Service was very - indeed overly - attentive, as we were asked if we were enjoying our starter twice before we had even had a mouthful. We were enjoying some quiet time together and hadn't got round to eating.
The wine list was short and uninspired, and we were looking for something better and more expensive to accompany the meal.
Within 5 minutes of the starters being cleared, the mains were on our table, which might suit a busy hotel restaurant, but we were hoping for a more leisurely time.
There was nothing wrong with the food or the wine, or the pricing or the ambience, but there were just a few niggles that let it down slightly, so I am marking it down to 4/5.
We'll definitely do a long leisurely lunch again, but repeating dinner is less certain. read more
