TL;DR - Hidden gem of a hotel in Venice, extremely convenient for coming and going from the city.
We chose this place on two main measures - firstly, it was very reasonably priced. Secondly, it was close to Piazzale Roma (where buses from the airport arrive) and Santa Lucia train station. On those measures alone, it met all our needs... but this place offers so much more.
Firstly, it's on a quiet side street so although you're in a very touristy city it feels like you're off the beaten track, despite being incredibly convenient.
Secondly, the breakfast! Every morning we got a wonderful breakfast, and they have an outdoor terrace you can sit on to enjoy it, overlooking lush greenery and enjoying the calm - it's a perfect way to start the day.
But the biggest surprise we got here was our room. There are no elevators, so we went up the stairs to the top floor where our room was. We opened the door and found another flight of stairs... and then we were blown away - our room was basically the entire top floor of the building with a private bathroom, a small kitchen, a living area and a double bedroom - plus a large outdoor balcony which overlooked gardens. It was absolutely idyllic. The decor wasn't exactly modern but everything was spotlessly clean and in impeccable condition.
It's worth noting that the hotel isn't staffed 24/7 - but they give you a key to the garden gate and the building front door so you can come and go as you please. read more
