Our room had two large double-shuttered windows opening directly above the canal - meaning that the views were simply stunning. And despite this,any noise soon quietens at night (it is up water from The Rialto etc). The room itself was sumptuously decorated and comfortable. I would imagine there are around 4 or 5 similar rooms in the hotel. I don't know what the other rooms (smaller?) are like. The hotel does not have a full restaurant (but there is not exactly a shortage of places to eat in Venice) but does offer a good breakfast buffet in a long room again overlooking the canal. A few tables are outside on the balcony. Accessing the hotel from the land side is a little harder, as it is tucked away down small side streets - but all the more peaceful for that. Despite this, it is still only 5 minutes walk from The Rialto bridge and 15 from San Marco, so a great place from which to explore all areas. Thoroughly recommended for a quiet and elegant retreat from the exhilarating but tiring business of Venice site seeing!

There are also two couches that fold out but are very uncomfortable. You can feel the springs in your back. The owner/manager was not friendly at all, in fact he barely looked up from his phone when we met him. We asked for toilet paper when we ran out but it was never replenished. Two of us were bitten by mosquitos/fleas/bed bugs or something. Overall, there are much better options.

They said it was due to the 7:30AM tides, but it stunk the night before. They said all 1st floor rooms stink on the entire island. Not true, but if it was true, then don't put people on first floor!!!! Very, very, very bad. Intolerable smell. When moved to second floor, no odor. But wifi didn't work. Front desk couldn't rest it. We asked for compensation, but manager said since we paid through Orbitz, we would need to contact them, and they would contact him and we could get money back that way. He gave me his business card. I gave the name to Orbitz. You guessed it, the hotel refused any compensation. It is a reason not to use Orbits or this hotel. Orbitz didn't represent the hotel accurately. We would NEVER have booked where we couldn't get wifi.

When we arrived, we were shown to the room immediately after a brief introduction to the hotel and city. We were offered any advice we needed as well as access to concierge services gratis. The staff was welcoming and friendly as well. It's very comfortable. The room decor was elegant and the bed was wonderful after a long trip. Coffee and a welcome bottle of Prosecco were also waiting for us. The view is really, truly right on the canal. It's fantastic but surprisingly quiet at night, likely due to the excellent windows We took the water taxi to the San Marco Square then walked back and it was about a 30 minute walk with beautiful shops and restaurants almost the entire way. Final note, the breakfast was a very good value with a diverse selection and excellent coffee. We recommend this hotel wholeheartedly.
