Sour and rotten, and they said it's normal and expect you to eat it.

Terrible customer service!!! We shop here weekly to support our Vietnamese community, but when I purchased 4 dragon fruits that were rotten inside, the employee refused to exchange or refund them and yelled at me, insisting that it was normal. What kind of business treats its customers this way? Only uneducated individuaSelling spoiled fruit and yelling at customers who voice their concerns...

The special gem of Cypress! I normally drive 30 minutes to Katy or Bellaire for Asian grocery stores like 99 ranch or HMART. I didn't even know there was an Asian market in cypress! This place is located in a small Vietnamese shopping plaza - it's off of 529.. but it's worth going if you need your basic Asian goods! I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of things they had in there. Their seafood and meat look the most fresh! I believe that they make their banh mi's fresh too but it does sit in a bin after it's made. I would not go into this store with high expectations as it is a small Asian market and it looks like it's not ran by a lot of workers. It is extremely messy inside the store but all you have to do is ask someone to help and they were nice about helping me find what I needed. There needs to be another Asian grocery store in cypress!! Cons - couldn't find expiration dates for some items and some items did not have expiration dates. Frozen food items seemed frozen burned and the beer and frozen aisle had leaking water all on the floor. Pros - you can find most of your viet, chinese, Korean needs at this little market. The seafood looks extremely fresh and I will be coming back to try. The meat market looks fresh as well - lots of customers were ordering so I'm assuming it is good. The pricing of the items - hit and miss. Some of the things are cheaper than 99 or HMART. This mart is definitely worth visiting to see what you can find here instead of having to drive 30 minutes out of town.

Very nice area! A little hard to find certain items in the layout but other than that very inviting and nice!

    Mangosteen

These were expensive at $10/lbs, more expensive than most place in town right now. It look fresh from the outside but all the fruits were so bad. I'm So disappointed that I spent $45 on these and they were no good!

    expired fruit

bought some mangosteen and opened two of them to find that they were both completely brown and rotten inside. I go back to ask for an exchange or return since i litterally cannot consume them. they tell me that there are "no exchanges, no exceptions" so i asked if theres anything i could do instead of keeping rotten fruit that i just got minutes before. she calls the manager and he snaps at me with this catty attitude, telling me that theres no exceptions and then when i say its rotten he starts yelling at me saying that its my fault for picking rotten fruit. which didnt look rotten from the outside. (it also REEKS once opened) dont get fruit from this store if you dont wanna get yelled at when you find out it's rotten inside and try to return.

u know i been to ca mao today for my sua da & nitro cold brew re-up!

i think i have a love affair with Ca Mao for real. eg kids taken to school, a little bit of precious free time...and my thoughts have been about this first bite of banh mi and washing it down with a sua da for breakfast. i can't even finish it, i must write about this now and hope someone concurs. often i find myself aimlessly wondering the depths of h-town asian markets in vain perusing the shelves for a specific drink from Hanoi that i only can find in Ca Mao: canned Highlands Coffee, to die for, which is the epitome of coffee, imho, using the staple of the second largest producer of coffee beans in the world, Vietnamese robusta, the best type of bean that no one knows about and if you appreciate coffee at its roots for taste alone or secondly if you can see its future (which robusta is, ie more green, easier & cheaper to produce, more able to withstand climate impacts vs arabica, and superior flavor when done properly, like in this sua da). i digress because Highland perfectly segues into this market, a Vietnamese town center that has thrived and expanded massively over the years for a simple fact: everyone knows and loves their food and drink. interesting major historical side note: Highland was the first overseas Vietnamese private company registered in Vietnam in 1998. So also Ca Mao makes tons of proper, fresh banh mi baguettes everyday, the kind that crunch on the outside and are that perfect sponge for absorbing the meat & pickled vegg juices inside. their banh mi is heo quay (roasted pork) Xa Xiu (bbq pork, the pink sweet pork that is usually found in authentic Banh Mi) so basically bbq pork but with cracklings from the skin as you can see in my pics, a double crunch when you combine with the banh mi bread. the xi xiu is on a vertical spit hanging in the window literally sopping wet, profusely dripping, from which they shave off pieces including the crackling on the outside, like a trompo or spit, reminiscent of shawarma/pastor, into the banh mi. an experience indeed! and this is just the back. i've found everything i love here, like right when you walk in are the phins for viet drip coffee and cafe du monde NOLA bean cans, another passion of mine that is the american equivalent to the traditional vietnamese exported robusta in terms of flavor profile with its classic chicory and dark roast, the perfect substitute and typical beans used in most sua das found in USA. it's basically a kitchen supply store here too. i've even found ridiculously priced cleavers, straws, bowls, you name it. they always have really fresh produce like crazy cheap yet huge cilantro as well as lemongrass and bok choy, to name a bit. my kids always find some fun snack. my favorite brand of bulgogi marinade is here too, and so are amazing prices on a variety of spices i constantly need, like black peppercorns. my local best deal on sesame oil is here as well as rice noodles. i've only just begun exploring their ice creams, one of which was a boba, a coffee one (right up my alley), and mochis. i feel like i'm always discovering new things each visit. come see for yourself!

I didn't realize there was another Asian market in Cypress! This is great! Compared to dong khang market, the prices are a bit lower and there's more variety. The staff are extremely polite. The only downside is that they didn't have the banh khot pan and there vegetables are limited. They're currently doing a promotion, but over $50 you get a free fish sauce!! Can't wait to come back for more Asian item needs!!

Worst customer service…read more I've never actually had the chance to buy anything from this store because of the lack of basic customer service. The first time I went in with my aunt, a woman was sitting in a chair on her phone. We looked at her and she stayed on the phone. We walked around the store and she was still on the phone. We came back to the front and she was still on the phone. We eventually walked out, and then she tried to speak to us. What makes this worse is that today (1/14/26) my uncle walked in to buy something and had the exact same experience. I never told him about what happened to me. He said the woman was on her phone with no greeting, no hello, and no how can I help you. Please fix your customer service. You are losing money.

Came looking for raw cocoa & shea and found even more! Love the ladies here, very friendly,…read morepatient, accommodating and knowledgeable! Lots of spice combos, ghanaian in particular, they have a type of crushed chile pepper similar to a birdseye/cayenne/thai that makes the famous shito sauce, love it, a good amount of spice. They also have Ghanaian butt cheek peppers raw I believe, which is similar to habanero, very sweet! I noticed lots of peanut options like raw smooth peanut butter, raw peanuts with & without skins in bags for a very good price! Tiger nuts too, which are technically tubers but with a nutty/sweet flavor like coconut. Lots of diff plantain chips! The best price anywhere on 100% raw white shea tho, comes in a tub pre-whipped which works well for easy access & transport. Can't wait to come back!

I'm talkin' mute on TEN. 0 to 100 real quick. But what I DO have a problem with is people having stores that cater to the public but don't at least have an English speaking person on site. And I have an EXTRA problem with people hanging up in my face. I called THREE Indian grocery stores just KNOWING that they speak English (cause most Indians I've met do), and I was hung up on twice...and the last chick put the phone down so I could listen to her argument with a customer...probably in hopes I'd hang up. REALLY, LIFE!? WHAT. THE. F-C-U-U-K-!-!-? So my last hope for buying incense before throwing in the towel and taking it to Amazon was to call Himalaya Grocers. THANK YOU, JESUS! They don't have all the variety that I'm used to regarding incense, but they had the basics. Nag Champa...you my only friend! Plus they had this rather unique Lord Buddha un named scent. I love that, too. Don't want to get your feelings hurt by the dial tone? Himalaya Grocers is where it's at! (And I'll be back next time to shop the grocery section)

This last visit was due to shortage of Lentil and dates. I found out that the owner has opened another location on Barker Cypress and Hwy290. As previously mentioned, I needed 2 specific kinds of Lentils: Masoor and Malka Masoor. I didn't need to go any further than Himalaya. Got both items 4lbs each. While strolling through the store, I started grabbing extra items: Zeera (cumin), Dhaniya (Coriander), Haldi (Turmeric), red chilli powder, mustard seeds, Kalonji, Fenugreek, Achar (indian spice dip), and a few more Indian grocery items. I was able to complete my spontaneous extended grocery list. Being the month of Ramadan, I also needed dates and they had a solid collection. Btw, they also usually have samosas at the counter which are made fresh daily. Overall the service is great. They have this one chick who runs the store daily and is pretty cordial and helpful to customers. I have run into the owner a few times and he is very polite and courteous. Himalaya is a tad less expensive than other competitors and you can find a wide range of authentic Indian grocery and snack items which are fresh and not outdated. Make sure to check out their frozen ice cream section and the Haldi Ram snack item section.
