Pastries de Bacalhau - the crust was not brown enough. May be longer time. The stuffing was flavorful but it's more the cod taste than the flavored mash potatoes which I prefer. I actually prefer the other local restaurant I tried the night before better. Caldo Verde - The potatoe part of the soup is great. Perfect viscosity but the flavor is not. It wasn't salty enough but more importantly is the flavor of the veggies and the spicy sausage they supposed to use that makes the soup taste different. Grilled giant pawns - The flavor of the prawns is not as intense as expected and hope to be. The squid ink pasta also lacked of flavor. That's disappointing. With the prawns, they should at least use the prawn shell to make sauce for the pastas. The pasta was tasteless, didn't even use enough garlic and olive oil to flavor it up. Seafood rice - Another disappointment. They used fish, small mussels and little bit of shrimp pieces along with some bigger whole shrimps and mussels. However, the rice was lack of the true seafood flavor that made from shell fish. They also added cilantro which overwhelmed the whatever left of seafood flavor. The lemonade was not a sweet lemonade but sour. Fyi. It's not fair we just went to another restaurant in the neighborhood and everything was so much better but people should know.

Watching the chefs in their element preparing the dishes was so cool; for such a tight space, they were a well-oiled machine. Here were my favorites: 1. The tomato soup with egg. So, so simple, with only two main ingredients, but perfectly executed. I'll need to try making this at home with the immersion blender. 2. Pan con tomato with jamón ibérico. I'm sitting here writing this review and crying a little on the inside that we in the States don't have such easy access to quality ingredients to make such a stand-out dish. Grilled bread, tomato spread, and the best jamón I've ever tasted. This was an order we added at the very end and I'm glad we did. 3. The sweet rice pudding with cinnamon ice cream and toasted rice krispies on top. I was almost too full to function by this point but still made room to demolish this dessert. We also got the grouper stew, which was pretty good, but at that point, I had basically gotten the same dish multiple times and this one didn't particularly stand out. Definitely make reservations! There are two seats on the street but I personally wouldn't want to sit there as there's a ton of foot traffic in the area (plus the cars drive pretty close too so you're also breathing in fumes and exhaust). A perfect dinner in Lisbon: oysters at Rosamar one street over and then some tapas and drinks at Tapisco.

The standout--and must-order--dish is the cod with egg (their refined take on the classic bacalhau). It's silky, savory, and perfectly balanced, with the egg adding richness without overpowering the delicate salt cod. Truly iconic and reason alone to come here. Other highlights included the mussels, pan con tomate with jamón ibérico, and the seafood rice, which is deeply flavorful and ideal for sharing. Every plate arrived beautifully presented and thoughtfully seasoned. The space is chic and energetic with an open-kitchen vibe. Service was polished and knowledgeable, though it gets busy fast--reservations are essential even for a Sunday night. Tapisco is ideal for a stylish night out, a special dinner, or anyone wanting to experience modern Portuguese cuisine done right. Memorable and crave-worthy.

So glad we did because my husband and I couldn't agree more that our dinner at Ideal was the best meal of our honeymoon. Portuguese tapas meant nothing to us. My husband and I were just hoping the dishes would be bigger and better put together than Spanish tapas back in the states. Knowing that they don't take reservation, we came right at its opening and sat by the window. Our sweet waiter quickly explained the menu and recommended us to pick 3 dishes to share. I could literally see myself eating every seafood dishes on the menu but ultimately we went with their braised tuna with sweet potato, fried cuttlefish with clams, and to add local speciality - stewed black pork with pepper jam. Braised tuna with sweet potato - translation was definitively off since we received seared tuna. My husband and I loveeee seared tuna to begin with so no complaint there. The 8 pieces of perfectly seared tuna strips coated with sweetened, pan fried shallots and this incredible crack sauce were unbelievable! We saved the sauces for all the subsequent dishes because it was just too good to give up. Our waiter were ready to switch out our plates but we turned him away. The stewed soft sweet potatoes added the perfect contrast of taste and texture to this dish. Honestly I don't mind just eating this dish again and again and again. Too good! Fried cuttlefish - again the translation was off, perhaps pan fried. I was expecting something along the line of croquettes but we received a pot of whole cuttlefish, clams, and potato. Nevertheless, the seafood was fresh and beyond delicious! Black pork - never have I had a softer cut of pork. I didn't even need a knife. The pork pieces just fell apart on its own with a light stroke of my fork. The pepper jam, sweet and tangy, was the perfect condiment to the dish. We drank every drop of this stew. I don't even like pork but this pork dish was just too amazing. We were beyond stuffed with the 3 amazing dishes. But with such incredible main dishes, our inner fatties were curious and wanted to try their desserts too. We ordered the dessert samplers for 2. They had 4 desserts to choose from but we went with pear crumble and chocolate tart with peanut sauce. Both desserts served warm. The chocolate tart was actually a brownie. A little too rich and sweet for our taste but still very yummy. The pear crumble was hearty. Perfectly stewed pear pieces, generous touch of cinnamon and brown sugar, it was the perfect ending to our incredible meal. Attentive, heartwarming service + incredible, well priced foods - Ideal will always have a place in my heart (and belly). Thanks for the most amazing, memorable meal of our honeymoon!
