I had come to Gimre's with a very specific issue relating to a style of New Balance shoe I wished to purchase. Nikki was gracious and friendly and her knowledge of shoes is clearly extensive. When Nikki discovered the item I wanted to purchase had been discontinued, she knew where to look to see if there were other options to consider. After looked at some other possibilities, she helped me find another style, within the New Balance brand, that actually ended up being the perfect shoe for my particular needs. I recently visited Tonquin Trading while on a vacation to the Oregon coast. Not exactly the easiest size to find in a pinch. Tonquin didn't have size 16 either-- but the super, super helpful guy working there understood our dilemma, and gave us a recommendation of where we COULD find a size 16, in exactly the type/brand of shoe we were looking for. He saved us from driving around all day to every Famous Footwear trying to find something that might work. So. Although I didn't end up buying anything at Tonquin, I was really impressed (and grateful!) by their "can't-get-it-at-Macy's-get-it-at-Gimbels" attitude, which saved our vacation. If I go back (and I loved the area...I'm already planning my next trip), I'd totally patronize Tonquin with my outdoorsy needs!
