We popped by before the theatre, even though we had a reservation for after, just to check it out... As we got a table, we had the first desserts of the evening, the mango Alphonso and the tarte Tatin - amazing! We didn't cancel our reservation and came back for the raspberry field and the choc terrarium... Heaven on a plate! Don't miss it!

As soon as you walk in to the boutique hotel Adelphi, you sense the personal and fun touches. The lolly jar and lolly bag in reception, swinging chair in the lobby and wire horse installation. Walking past the reception desk and ahead to the host stand marking the start of the dessert bar you are greeted by friendly and professional staff. We told them that we have no reservation and are hoping for an empty table ( it was a weeknight) staff threw a comforting "no problem" and whisked us inside. I can only describe the staff as sleek. they are fast, smooth, friendly and professional. Just the right amount of greet and chit chats. having sampled the Mont Blanc and Tarte tartin at the Yelp event, we opted for Smoked Banoffee, Strawberry fields, and Cendol with a side of Adelphi rose cocktail. My advise is to gulp that cocktail before you eat because after all that sweetness the cocktail starts to taste bitter hahahah The Strawberry field is my fave, with strawberry gelato for mushroom head and marshmallow for the stem, lychee, raspberries and the surprise rosewater sphere that pops in your mouth ( or your fork). It tastes like perfume but with cool texture! The smokey Bannoffee is very very strong, our waiter tells us it is the dessert that divides diners. Love it or hate it. the flamed liquor leaves a thick woody flavour and the dish comes with popcorn, salted caramel syringe, ice cream, choc ball. HOW DO WE EAT IT???? however you want, they say..... The cendol is the only one that I could do without but was enjoyed by my partner. a small choc bowl holds the gula jawa, coconut type pudding and cendol balls. They sit on top a mango pudding. If you close your eyes, you have all the taste of Cendol but it's so bloody confusing for your eyes!! Would we go back? yes I'd like to try the other desserts and perhaps the high tea, if you plan to visit, the degustation is a good idea, $49pp for 3 small version desserts ( all you need). and it looks like each person can choose their own 3. Super!! just thinking about it makes me go Om Nom Nom Nom

The sign said I had about a 30 minute wait. I was getting pretty hungry after a long day of sightseeing and catching the game. So with that thirty minutes to kill now I wanted to find something quick, right near the station. I walked outside, crossed Flinders Street and there it was, exactly what I was looking for. This place, Spanish Doughnuts is a little hole in the wall for sure but with a truly unique food item that blew my mind. Churros! Being from California, I have had many churros. They are everywhere. The movie theater, Disneyland, Sporting events, concerts, Costco! They are all delicious, a fried dough rolled in cinnamon. Pretty basic stuff, all the same everywhere. However this place had a variety flavors! You can get them filled with jams, custard, chocolate, peanut butter. Truly awesome. Some even come dipped in chocolate shell, like a candy bar with a churro inside. I chose the churro with peanut butter in the middle, rolled in a chocolate coat. It was fantastic. They also have a selection of coffee and sodas to choose from. You can make a little combo meal where you get a churro and a coffee and save a buck. Unfortunately for me, I'm now thousands of miles away from this place. I have actually bought churros here and tried to fill them with heated peanut butter but I have to replicate the one I had that night in Melbourne.......

And they don't do a terrible hot chocolate either.

Yes, I'm looking forward to sinking my teeth in to the sweet creamy delectableness that is the dessert itself, but the experience of visiting this incredible pop up is really something special and worth looking forward to. Our first visit here was really special, with families from all kinds of cultures represented. It was so nice to see a space absolutely pumping, not filled with hipsters lining up for the latest hot thing in town, but filled with young and old from various religious backgrounds and areas in town all there for a happy time. The vibe was really great as people lined up, waited for their hot and steamy knafeh, chatted with strangers, laughed at kids dancing up front in front of the container and watched the shenanigans of the bearded bakers who spent equal amounts of time cooking and dancing. So good. Pro tip: the boys move around Melbourne every weekend popping up somewhere new between Thursday and Sunday night. Keep an eye on theie instagram feed for details.

Kanafeh can be served as dessert, snack or breakfast. I am guilty of doing all three. I have to be honest, I've had what I thought was some pretty good kanafeh before, but enter The bearded bakers and their cool set up. Selling love, entertainment, laugh and some damn good kanafehs, and I am in love. Delicious and delicate, and just the right serving size. They probably cost a couple dollars more than what you would get at the pastry shop but well worth the trip and extra change. If you haven't seen them in action, I strongly recommend you make a night out of it. Grab some friends and go out for some kanafehs and mint tea and have a laugh and dance with these guys. Currently at Preston market on weekend ( evening), but I believe these guys are Sydney based and probably are not gonna be there for long. Check out where they are set up and check them out if they are near by!

Ooh la la. For a…read morecity that prides itself on coffee and cafes, Mork is a gem in North Melbourne for all of the non-coffee drinkers out there. This is a chocolate brew house and a great one at that. Don't come in here expecting anything but chocolatey goodness. There's traditional ones, signatures, and then more experimental ones. This cafe takes drinking hot chocolate to a whole new level of fun and exciting. They house make their oat milk, and almond milk, have varieties of dark chocolate, and even water based ones, and have a in-house smoke machine. At Mork, they are experimental with the sensations, making any visit here an adventurous one. The cafe is a lot smaller than expected, making it nice and cosy. The seating is also situated perfectly close enough to eye other tables hot chocolate orders in a non-creepy I-want-to-try-what-they-ordered way. The Malted hot chocolate is the Campfire chocolate's beverage brother. It's paired over meringues and caramel sauce among other goodies; served in a bowl to scoop up in your hands and enjoy. It was hard to hold back the temptation to just splurge and try every single one of their drinks. Mork is the perfect place to cosy up with a fancy hot chocolate.

Art- innovative, original and new. -- Culinary Art its the level on which the staff@ Mork operates. SERVICE: We don't mind waiting in the rain for the best chocolate in Melbourne We were told by cashier that seating would not be possible as they closed in 45 minutes. We explained that we fly home the next morning and wanted the campfire chocolate. Take away was the only option. When 3 other parties on the list before us left and our 'take away' order was still not ready, I implored the lady at register to seat us. It was a struggle. (Retrain her with focus on guest experience over order processing) The seats were available and others arriving after were being seated in the mean time... I promised to order additional items additional to the original order. The table servers saved the experience. They were attentive, gracious and friendly, very accommodating and informative. QUALITY: Meanwhile the beverage maker(s) were busy yet sociable. They made time to explain the in house made soy and oat milks, focus on incorporating Aussie native ingredients, future plants, milk temperatures &etc. Even waited to make our take away until we left so ours was top quality. Each menu and merchandise item in this immaculate open space was top quality, be it a custom made mug, cocoa nibs or salt! The beverages were a sensory experience, with infusions, aromas and interactive elements. PRICE: For the level of quality, Mork's prices seemed comparable value compared to most high end chocolatiers.
