Wow, this place is fancy - it's tucked away in a small town near Lucerne, so I was expecting something more homely. Not that this place wasn't that, but really, it was meticulously clean (admittedly, almost every place you stay in Switzerland will be this) and modern (while managing to stay... rustic, somehow). I'm not sure if each room is themed, but the room I stayed in had an artist theme - so there were mini easels for the bedside table, and a glass study table with a large wooden paintbrush "holding it up" for the study table.
I was here for a private event, so we were first brought down to the cellar for an apéro. The atmosphere was really nice - you're surrounded by wine barrels, and there's a long table in the middle for drinks, snacks, etc. - it was a little cool in the cellar, but with plenty of people there, that didn't stay that way for long. The apéro snacks were nothing to write home about (but! honorary mention to the peanuts because they were AMAZING), but the staff was attentive: seemed that almost every time your glass was empty, or nearing empty, they would appear next to you and offer to top you up.
Dinner was upstairs in a large room, and my god, was the food delightful. There were so many courses that everyone was stuffed silly, but honestly, what great quality food. The salad was light and so tasty, as was the soup. For the main course, the meat itself was tender and juicy. Dessert was a buffet of sweet, sweet, and more sweet stuff.
The dining room where breakfast was served was a little more old-school, and the buffet spread was fantastic. Plenty of meat, breads, and cheese, along with cereal and juices.
tl;dr: Would 100% recommend! read more
