To start off, I will mention that I took about 500 board feet of pin Oak to Byler's to get dried, I believe it was at the beginning of 2019, I was not really told how long it would take to dry, I believe I called about 6 months later, I was told it would still be another 4 or 5 months, I asked what was up, they NOW proceed to tell me, the wood has to air dry first for about 4 to 5 months, before it goes into the Kiln,??? Don't you think it would have been a more professional thing to do to tell your customers their process ??? Now article [[ 2 ]]] I dropped off 4 - 2 inch thick pieces of Black Walnut, the date we put down, right along side the card of Joe Byler's The date we wrote down was I believe March 09,2019. I stopped back at Byler's I believe around October 2019, Byler's told me, it would probably be another couple months ??? Again, these people who, seal with the public quite frequently, did not tell me , the wood has to be air dried first before it goes into the kiln . Mr. Byler's Joe, we asked how much would it be for the drying of the walnut ? Mr.Byler's [[ Joe ]]reply was I believe, around $30.00 to $40.00 . I happened to go back to them today, 01/02/2020. I was looking for a longer piece of walnut for out kitchen counter, they did not have just a plain piece of walnut, just [ Live edge ] Jonais, asked me if they called us to pick up the 4 walnut pieces, I told him no, but your son told us it was out of the kiln . he went back and looked ,and some one came back with our 4 pieces of walnut. Now, when I asked Jonais Byler . how much was it. he tells me $72.00 ???? That is a little bit more than $30.00 to $40.00 ???????? I remember last year when I got the pin oak dried, it was $065 per board foot, Now if they had a price increase from last year, don't you think it would be more professional to charge your customer the price per board foot that they quoted , instead of making them wait a little longer till the first of the next year just to charge them more money ????????????????
Now, this company has been in business for a long time. they may know how things work as far as wood drying and such, but how about taking a little time to explain to their customers , the wood has to be air dries first before going into the Kiln, as I was , or maybe should say, was not told it has to air dry first, and how about nit ripping off your customers, by charging higher rates than was told ??? as far as my math shows, I should have been charged $62.40, 96 bd feet X $.65, not the $72.00 , that may be their new rate, but was not when the work order was out in,???????
Completely disgusted customer, Pat. J I guess in the future I will just get the wood I normally take to Byler's and just stack in in layers inside my garage ,rather than getting possibly ripped off by Byler;s kiln drying business in Middlefield Ohio. read more
