The highway isn't too heavily traveled, so the sites are fairly quiet, with spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. Tables, BBQ grills and fire rings...plus very clean vault toilets and running water. Being in view of the highway, the sites don't feel very secluded or private -- but that is more than made up for by the fact that directly across the highway is a little all-natural sandy-bottomed hot spring, right on the banks of the Payette River. As far as I know you can soak any time, day or night, in a little rectangular pool that used to be part of a bathhouse or something back in the day. We walked over from our campsite after dark, and hiked down for a very relaxing soak. This place is not hardcore, remote or rugged....but I still give it 5 stars because it's clean, beautiful and EASY! And sometimes, that's what you want! I would definitely stay here again...but if you don't want to camp out, you can use the springs for free by parking in the little day use lot at the trailhead, just across from the campground.

Before we even got there, we called several times with all sorts of questions and they were patient and super helpful each time. Upon arriving, they were quick to help us and made sure we had all the gear (tubes, waterproof phone cases, drinks, ice, etc) to make our river float as comfortable and fun as possible! The ride to the river is very quick and on the way they provide plenty of pointers so you're sure to avoid any rough patches coming down the river. They handled loading and unloading our stuff for us, thank you! We will definitely be back and hope to stay overnight next time to take advantage of all they have to offer! Being more of an RV park, It seemed like a campground where most of the people bring their own entertainment (aka quads/sxs/dirt bikes). As far out as it is, there's not a lot to explore on the campgrounds. To explore you have to go out on the dirt road. They do have ping pong tables & a horseshoe pit. Most of the people staying there had dirt bikes and quads. They'd all be coming and going at times. At night, it was very quiet. They have warm showers, and a clean bathroom (clean for camping standards). To note: It's a fairly long (~9 miles) trek on a dirt road to get to the campground off of I-90. Expect your vehicle to get dirty on the way in/out. There was zero cell service (Verizon). Overall, I would recommend this campground!

Site 60 | great location | great amenities…read more We stayed one night in our sprinter van along the way to Yellowstone. This place is perfect for what we needed. Our site was close to trash bins to empty our trash and a one minute walk to the bathroom and camp kitchen area, if we needed to do some cooking. Our site has a nice little picnic table and fire ring. Lots of folks were using the fire pits, so there is no fire ban here. We are so close to the lake! Lots of trees here and our spot has enough shade to hide from the hot summer sun. Our site was #60 with an electrical hookup, thank goodness. It helped us not to drain our battery when using the a/c. Our site is in between a cabin site and a tent site. The site is small and fits our 24ft van perfectly. The big thing was that it is level! No adjusting. There is a store in the front and a swimming pool, which is popular when it's hot out. I did not need to do laundry, but they also offer that here. Patchy internet at our site, but we were able to use our starlink instead. Overall, we can't complain because this is glamping to us with all of our needs met. I recommend stopping here if you need a place to camp on your way to Yellowstone.

Spirit Lake is one of those beautiful places tucked away as a hidden gem. If you need a RV spot this is certainly a go to. We are sure to be back.

When we arrived, not only was Steve there to show us to our spot, but several others currently staying. In the park were helpful in spotting some close calls and helping get us positioned just right in our spot. For our rig size, it was a close call and tight fit getting in, but once in our spot it was perfect. They got us in site 11 no problem. Is it an impersonal overly polished concrete and blacktop parking lot style RV Park with perfect level geometry/symmetry everywhere you look? No, but it was one of the best and most relaxing locations we've been so far. It's in the middle of a game preserve, so there are numerous deer routinely wandering around the area. Ahhh nature! As far as quiet goes, evenings were like a cemetery (in a good way). Just lots of peace and quiet to enjoy your surroundings. And the sunsets on the dock & beach! They are about as idyllic as you can get for lakefront property. We spent time swimming, kayaking, and just siting our on the dock enjoying the sunshine. I can speak for the internet/WiFi as we had great T-Mobile reception and so were only on our own hotspots the entire time. 60Mbit down / 8.9Mbit up. Perfectly suited to my purposes.

The price was very reasonable. There is a shower/bathroom trailer which is cleaned daily. They ran out of hand soap though on our 1st day and it never was refilled when we left on the third day. This campground is right off the interstate, so very convenient, but not so quiet. They do have cones up, but if you're staying there, you just drive up around them. It wasn't a big deal. We would probably stay here again if we took a trip up north. It was a pretty central spot for what we had planned.

There is a nice concrete slab for each camper. First of all the GESTAPO is running the place! They put orange cones at the entry so EVERY TIME you come in and out of the campground....you have to stop and move the cones?! There are may be 20 sites and the camp hosts sit right at the entry where there is a sign to stop before you enter. Let's just say someone did RUN PAST THE ENTRY and take a site....then you go to them and collect your money. So....after going through the cones multiple times the last time I stopped my car, got out, moved the cones and drove through...I did not put the cones back. I kid you not...within 1 minute...the camp host came to me an yelled at me for not replacing the cones. WE LEFT! I go to camp to relax.....not to be yelled at by some camp host over an orange cone!! The sites are pretty small, NO trees, they don't water the grass so it is dry and burned. They have ONE fire pit in the dry grass near the river that you have to share with everyone. You pretty much need a play pen for dogs cuz there is no way to tie them up or have a place for them out of the sun. There are other sites in the area that are better...and NO GESTAPO!
