Been attending BW Personal Training for about 3 years. I have been to many gyms and had several trainers. Barrett and Natalie make it a pleasure to work out. They are very friendly and non- intimidating. It's easy to engage in conversation with them during the 1 hour session. I usually work out with Barrett and he's good at modifying your workouts if you desire a more challenging program or want to focus on select muscle groups. In addition, you can ask him questions on nutrition if you are unsure. I enjoy the gym atmosphere, too. BW offers the latest in equipment, so you know your membership fee is going to good use! In my search for personal training, BW stood out because of all the glowing reviews. After having such a great experience myself, I'm here to add my own! I've been training with Natalie for about 6 months now, and she's helped to effectively build up my workouts and my strength! I wanted to focus on strengthening my upper body to see if it could help alleviate my chronic migraines. At their worst, I was having a migraine every 48 hours. I recently pinpointed that neck tension is one of my primary triggers (holding tension from stress, working at a computer all day, compensating for no upper body strength in general). I went to physical therapy earlier this year and saw some reduction in my migraine frequency, but my progress plateaued and they recommended I try something else. Rather than depend on a growing list of medications, I wanted to see if I could address the root cause. My goal felt kind of intangible, but I've seen a change in my life that I didn't think was possible. Nowadays, I get a migraine roughly once every two weeks. It's been a huge relief. I started coming to BW 13 months ago, training 3 days a week. I've lost about 50 lbs since I started coming here (Pic attached). After being fit all my life I struggled with suddenly gaining weight and not being able to lose it for the prior 5 years. After seeing some specialists and a lot of bloodwork tests, I found out I was premenopausal and was told that getting serious about weight training was the only way to now lose the weight. Things I love about this gym: 1). Variety of clients. From 20 year olds to folks in their 70's. Natalie and Barrett take time to get to know each person and their personal goals and tailor their workouts accordingly just for them. From goals of losing weight, building muscle, rehabbing an injury, and training for sports... to someone like me struggling with premenopausal weight gain 2). Pre-planned workouts that change up every session to keep it interesting. I love that they pre plan the work out and even get everything set up for me as I go so that I can move from set to set quickly without having to set up myself or even think. I feel like I get almost double the workout done in a shorter amount of time because of this. 3). Hands on training. Natalie and Barrett are always helping me perfect my form to get the most out of each movement and workout. I've learned so many tips on how to do things right. And I love how if a move is too hard they modify it immediately. They are also very experienced with stretching exercises to help with any mobility issues or tightness which I love doing after the workout. 4). Lots of cardio machines (peloton bike, peloton treadmill, stair climber, ski machine, rower, etc) that I can use for free outside of my regular workout session. Often incorporated into my set session for a cardio boost. 5). Family owned and operated. Always feel like I'm part of a community when I come here. All the clients are so friendly and so supportive of each other. I love that I often find myself laughing as I workout from some of the funny conversations happening around me. 6). Parking is so easy. Always a spot right outside the front door. I am always running late so this is important to me. Lol If you're thinking about starting weight resistance training don't wait another second and just call and make your first appt to try it out. I wish I had found this place five years ago--before I got out of shape. I've been a member of big name gyms in the past but I was totally unmotivated to go regularly. I happened to see this gym on my way to pick up some food and everyone inside looked happy so I called them up. Natalie and Barrett are the owners and I love working out with both of them. They are always changing things up and in only two months, I've lost weight, gotten stronger, and my clothes fit better. I have to leave a review for my favorite place to go during the week. A small preface, I sustained a back injury from weightlifting in 2016 and had surgery in 2019 to relieve the pain of the disc bulge that had left me sidelined. Got back into weightlifting this year, April of 2023. I reached out to Barrett around July to help ensure my form was good and I was training properly. Although squats and deadlifts are never to be part of my regiment again, Barrett still helps me find ways to get the full body workout in every week, while avoiding any strain on my lower back. The atmosphere is very welcoming every time you walk in. There's no thinking involved when you arrive, because Barrett (and Natalie!) has everything ready to go for your full hour. I've been coming to this gym for about 2.5 years now. Barrett and Natalie are always so friendly and make the gym environment easy going while I try to get through my workouts. They listen to your goals and cater your workouts specifically on what you're trying to achieve. I have had to take time off because of work schedules but I always make sure to come back whenever I have the time. They always give me a warm welcome and I've even made friends with the other clients during my sessions. I'm so spoiled and will never go back to a commercial gym. I've only worked out with Barrett, but everyone that walks in is greeted and there is a great vibe throughout the gym. * All I have to do is workout. All the thinking is done by Barrett. There is no waiting for machines, adding/removing weights, trying to think of what I want to do next - he handles all that and it saves a ton of time. I started with Barrett back in Dec. 2018 for 6am session and I enjoyed my training - and that say a lot as I am not a morning or a gym type of person. The first week was rough but Barrett was there to motivate me. I tried a few different personal training places before and I am glad I found BW personal training. Like many of his client stated - , Barrett is extremely knowledgeable, highly professional, excellent at tailoring the training to each individual client. He's very friendly and personable guy.
