I made the unfortunate mistake of contacting Richard from Quality Awnings & Screens for a quote on…read morean awning. Richard was responsive and came to the property twice to review details of the project. Richard is great at sales and will overpromise what's possible to ensure a sale. In my case, he claimed that we could have articulating arms to adjust the pitch of the awning for different needs. This ended up being untrue for our project. He also claimed the awning could be attached at a particular height on my house. This also ended up being untrue, and we've lost about a foot of height as a result. He also offered a WiFi module that he didn't disclose was the homeowner's responsibility to install and activate. Warning: this equipment is Italian, and when instructions are unclear, you'll find yourself trying to learn Italian as you decipher technical manuals online - no help from Richard and team! In fact, after installation began, Richard never returned to address our concerns about the install. This is a major red flag - if the seller won't stand by their product, what confidence can you have in it as the homeowner? Richard also promised that installation could take place in just one day, but became pushy about scheduling the install, on a weekday, even though we always told him Saturday would work best for us and he said he would reserve the day for us. We tried to accommodate his haste but ultimately it didn't work out. With regard to the installation itself, we encountered multiple issues - in addition to the issues mentioned above, he also sold us on 12 feet of awning projection. We don't have 12 feet of awning projection. Why? I'd love to know! The biggest issue of all was that Richard forgot key components for the project - the second set of remotes, the manual retraction handle, and, worst of all, the flashing. Scheduling the remainder of the work became a pain - they were supposed to come Monday, Monday became Tuesday, Tuesday became Wednesday. We even took time off work on Tuesday just for them to no-show. Wednesday, they finally came, and couldn't figure out how to program the second set of remotes. Mind you, this is their product! A special technician from the dealer (Richard is just a middleman) had to come from Miami to set things straight on Thursday, and showed up to our house without any forewarning and invited himself into our backyard to work on the equipment. I wish I was kidding, but this happened despite a specific request made to Richard to let us know when someone would come so that we could be there to learn from the knowledgeable technician about how the equipment functions. However, probably the biggest betrayal of trust, is that Richard wrote down (stole) our credit card information without our permission and charged our card to his business account without our knowledge and before we could confirm the work had been satisfactorily completed. We were in touch with Richard on this day and advised him that we would soon return home to confirm the completed work. He apparently decided he couldn't wait. As of today, Richard has issued threats to "cancel" warranty coverage on a product that, at best, was 1 year of labor by the installer and 10 years of parts coverage by the manufacturer. He seems unhappy with the result of his unsuccessful credit card charge/attempt. With all of these headaches, my best advice for you is to steer clear of Richard and his company in every way. There are too many other awning companies in South Florida to have to deal with this.
