Cumberland Park is one of my favorite state parks to visit. We have visited twice and loved it both…read moretimes. The first visit we stayed during covid in December so it was just our group of 4 and one other couple staying in the resort. It was nice because it felt so private. We stayed in the resort rooms and we were surprised with how nice they are. Everything was clean. It was a bit small but we made it work. The second visit we stayed in their cabins and preferred it more. we got 2 bedrooms and each one had 2 beds so all of us slept comfortably. I loved that the cabin comes with a full kitchen and table so we spent our night playing board games. The park itself has so much to do. There are tons of hiking trails, horseback riding and even boat tours that take you up close to the waterfall. You have to go to the Moon bow at least once in your lifetime. It's when the moon hits the water at the right angle and you see a rainbow at night. It is a cool experience but it does get really crowded so you may want to come early. Cumberland Falls gave me unrealistic expectations for state parks because this what I feel like most state parks should be like.

The trail was a bit slick, but really just strolled to hit the different overlooks for different angles of the surging waters. Snagged a sundae from the snack shop and some gifts from the shop. They have some animals and small exhibits in the Visitor's Center as well. Free to stop, loved seeing the falls! Apparently the only place to see a Moonbow near the full moon in the Western Hemisphere, so that's pretty special!

Im a little afraid of heights, and we did the trail counter clockwise. Im glad because if I had seen the arches from below first, I might have been scared to walk across them. On top of the first arch, on a very windy day, my brain saw the trees moving near the edge and it gave me a feeling that the ground was moving! We also went to the top of the 2nd arch, and we're rewarded with gorgeous views for miles in all directions. The pit toilets were very clean, and dare I say pleasantly scented? However there was no water, so pack sanitizer and extra water. It was 90 degrees in March! The dirt road to the trailhead was a little busy, be careful on blind corners and keep an eye out for mules pulling wagons. Gold star if you pull over and let the dust settle before they pass you by. I hope the rest of the park is as awe inspiring as this. We plan to cone back for a longer stay so we see more.

We took the Twin Arches Short Loop ( about 1.1 mi). I would recommend taking the loop clockwise,…read morethat way you see the arches and then explore around them, and the you take the stairs up onto the rocky arches and walk back to the parking area. The stairs are wooden, and so might be slippery when wet. The trail itself is pretty well marked and obvious even on the areas of bare rock. I didn't see any wildlife on my hike. The arches themselves are GORGEOUS. I don't think the photos do them justice. There's lots of nooks and crannies at the bases to explore too, almost cave-like at times. At the trailhead there's vault toilets (no running water-bring hand sanitizer!), a map of the trail, and picnic tables with warnings about not leaving food out as it attracts bears. Overall, this hike isn't too strenuous and the views are well worth it!

Instead, the water was so low that our raft constantly got stuck on rocks, making the trip frustrating, unsafe, and nothing like what was advertised. At the very beginning of the trip, our guide Johnny even told us that the American Whitewater Association recommends a minimum of 400 ft water flow for rafting but that day it was only 250 ft. In other words, they knowingly took customers out in conditions that were below safe standards. When I asked for a refund, the company refused. Instead, they offered me a 50% discount on a future trip in an entirely different state in 2026 which is irrelevant and unacceptable. In their own follow-up email, the company admitted that Johnny was frustrated with the low water levels and that the trip was disappointing. This company clearly cares more about taking your money than providing a good customer experience. If you're looking for a real rafting adventure and a company that values its customers, I strongly recommend booking elsewhere.
