I was walking in the are and low and behold there was a sign for a Brazilian store. I looked up the place on yelp and while I don't care much for the clothing aspect; they happen to have a lot of Brazilian snacks. I went upstairs and was greeted by a young woman on a phone and perused the various goods. I went with Doce de leite (dulce de leche) as well as some bananad cremosa. They also have cashew nut juice which you can't find in most other stores which I partook in. The prices were high but it's quite hard to find these things in NYC and their selection was excellent. She apologized for being on the phone while I was bringing the things over and asked what I was trying to find afterwards which was nice. Cute little store with great things from Brazil but I felt I was not welcome. The lady there was a little rude, customer service was terrible. I wanted to surprise a friend who used to live in Brazil, with a few "goodies" from the country he loves. Upon my google search, I found Buzios! I was so happy to find a place within the city. I made a list of all of the things I wanted to purchase from their website. Beforehand, I sent a dm via Instagram, checking to see if they would be open a certain day. When I arrived at the store, to my surprise, the owner immediately knew I was the one who sent the dm!! And everything I needed was in the store! That rarely happens. You need to buzz in in order to get into the building. The elevator was late, and they're located on the second floor, which you couldn't access because the button to the second floor didn't work. As well, the door to the stairwell was closed in order to access the store. I wanted to go in, and I kept trying but it was getting too hot. If Buzios is a Brazilian swimwear boutique, I'm Giselle Bundchen. Yes, there is swimwear, two racks of it (cut appropriately skimpy in the back and very low, just as I'd hoped) and a few pieces of Brazilian-themed clothes (sarongs, tube tops, etc, all cut to accentuate whatever goods you've been blessed with). But there's also Brazilian health and beauty supplies, Brazilian food, Brazilian magazines (including one about plastic surgery), Brazilian CDs and DVDs, lingerie, Havainas flipflops (scored a "slim" pair, with a thinner-cut thong part, in a pretty metallic pewter for $20), and a check cashing/phone calling/money transfer center. My guess is this is a pit stop for Brazilians, as much home base as boutique. I would have no clue what else goes on here, but from the preoccupied vibe of the staff, selling stuff to non-Brazilians is probably not their top priority. Nevertheless, I got a pretty hot Brazilian cut swimsuit for $20. Changing room is in the spa across the way, which is another weird vibe. Cellulite treatments start at $150, and go up to over $1K for 16 treatments. Hair salon and waxing services are listed, but one of the treatment rooms seemed converted into an office (at least that's what I could see from the half-open door). And I can't lie: I checked out the goods of every woman working in there and they all seemed to have ample, um, assets. Anyway, if I were in the market for a Brazilian cut bikini again, I would probably just go on eBay. I might stop by Buzios again if I were hankering for a pair of Havainas flipflops. But if you want to feel like an intruder in a Brazilians-only club, then definitely stop by Buzios. read more

My coworker took me here and at first I was wondering why he was taking me to a sketchy clothing store. This is a small store on the 2nd floor. Half of the store is Brazilian flag apparel/bikinis... the other half is packaged food, jars, and frozen goods. They even have lotions/sunscreen. My coworker grew up in Brazil and says they have typical things you'd buy every day in Brazil, but you would never see the selection at any other store in the US. The frozen pao de queijo looked interesting but we went with a bag of "sonho de valsa", chocolate covered wafer enrobed nougat candy. read more

I totally disagree with the last review. Buzios Boutique has a large selection of Brazilian bikinis and I send a lot of people to the store and I never heard a complain.. The review does not make sense, once she got out of the store with a bikini herself :-) I don't think you can possibly buy a Brazilian bikini on E-Bay and have the same results, you MUST try on a Brazilian bikini to see if you look good on it and if you will feel comfortable wearing it. I also buy regularly at the store, specially the Brazilian typical food. I used the SPA services and I enjoy it. The staff was attentive and very nice to me. I believe we all should be supportive of stores that do not belong to large corporate chains, so we can have UNIQUE options. ALL OF YOU, GO SHOP AT BUZIOS BOUTIQUE AND HAVE FUN!!! read more

This little Brazilian shop was originally located at 20 w 46th street and just moved to its new location just a block away at 19 w 45th street. I've been a regular customer for years since my apartment is right next door in the old building. The owner, Marcella, is the nicest and sweetest person!! She carries a hand selected assortment of Brazilian goods from swimwear to Brazilian treats - beverages, chocolates, coconut water and much more! Brazilian street has been going through a lot of change over the last year - but she has been a constant. It's a true, original Brazilian neighborhood store run by a woman who embodies the best of Brazil. Buzios is one of the oldest and the best of the remaining Brazilian businesses in Manhattan's Little Brazil (46th Street west of Fifth Avenue, a three-minute walk from Times Square). The staff is extremely courteous, and the store carries everything from Brazilian magazines, DVDs and CDs to swimsuits and other apparel to Guarana soda and other delicious Brazilian food. When I am craving Brazilian food, this is the place I go to buy ingredients. Last time I could find meats for feijoada and even "goma de tapioca" (cassava starch) to prepare tapioca crepes (if you never tried, you should - they are the last trend in health food in Brazil - and it's gluten free). I also found Catupiry cheese, the one my kids loooove to eat on their pizzas, with bread... I like to prepare dishes with chicken or shrimp and Catupiry cheese, and my oldest even took one box to his friends to try. Cheese rools (pao de queijo) are also very popular with my kid's friend's, so I usually buy 5 or 6 packages of frozen cheese rolls, as well as Guarana - the "Brazilian soda", as they usually call it.
