To Whom It May Concern, To Long Did Not Read: Donald…read moreHackworth, owner of Don's Loan, got my stolen firearm in as a pawn, made me pay to get it back I tried to work with him. He refuses to work with me and it went to court, and he is currently ordered to pay me $489.00; however, he refuses to communicate/pay the owed amount. The following is an overview of my interaction with Donald Hackworth, who is the owner of Don's Loan. Due to these issues, I have been trying to correct an error on his part, which he is adamantly refusing to address. This is an explanation of the issue and a warning to everyone to avoid doing business with him at this time. Delaware County Sheriff's office notified me that in roughly August of 2025, a firearm I had stolen was found at Don's Loan, and upon reaching out to them, they stated there was a hold, but I would have to travel from my home to the pawn shop to pick up the firearm, and that it should be at no cost to me. However, upon arriving at Don's pawnshop, I was forced to pay him $200.00 to get my gun, which had been stolen and pawned out by him, and was told to reach out to the victims' fund or file in small claims court to recover the money that Donald forced me to spend to retrieve my stolen item. I then reached out to the Ohio Victims Fund and was informed that this is not something that they handle. Prior to trying to complete and legal filings I reached out and Spoke with Donald via phone call and he stated that he would look into this matter and then get back with me, however this never I happened, I then sent a letter on November 24th 2025 in which it was certified mail thus Donald Hackworth had to sign to receive it again requesting to work out and agreement at which time he again never responded a deadline of December 4th 2025 was given prior to any legal filings being filed. However, I sent a follow-up letter again, wanting to give Donald an attempt to address this prior to the court filing, and extended this to after the holiday, at which time the deadline for a response, whether that be a phone call, text, email, or letter to discuss and make this matter right, was never received. This occurred on January 6th, 2026. Almost 6 months post this event I was forced to file in court to address this issue with was set for 3-17-2026 to be heard in court. Still, Donald never attempted to reach out to address this matter. He did mail and file a letter with the local court on January 27th, 2026, stating that he was requesting that the case be moved to his local court to make this easier for him. However, the court denied this motion. There were no communication attempts from Donald at any time, and on 3/17/2026, the court hearing was held, and Donald did not attend. The court found in my favor, granting me the original $200.00 owed, court costs, and the cost of me having to take the day off work to attend the hearing. This in regard to the Ohio Revised Code a Judgment entry, and the proper paperwork was sent to Donald on March 24, 2026, in which he signed and accepted the paperwork on March 27th 2026. There, however, was no contact from Donald again, and a secondary notice outlining that I would be posting this review and using other actions to address this issue was mailed to Donald on April 28th, 2026, in which he signed for this on May 1st, 2026 and I am currently writing this review on May 18th 2026, still with no communication from Donald or Don's Pawnshop. This is to show that even when a court orders that Donald and his pawnshop are in the wrong, he refuses to make things right, ever attempt to address this at a lower level had been made, and Donald and Don's Pawnshop refuse to work with or address this issue. I would advise everyone to be extremely careful with regard to working with this man or the pawnshop due to these sorts of issues.
