So disappointed in a flower arrangement ordered for Mother's Day. There ad did not specify the exact arrangement so I assumed for $169 + $31 in taxes and fees it would be nice large spring arrangement. Instead it was 1 dozen red roses with 2 white flowers and, babies breath. When I called they justified the cost saying roses an a spider flower. I called Butt's and they went above and beyond sending me a picture off of their personal cell phone of a bouquet they had just made and had put in the cooler-they called in a delivery driver to immediately come in to get this bouquet to the church in time for the service (in Galena)..Super friendly service, beautiful quality (this picture is before they added a bunch more roses) if I ever needed anything to do with flowers in Dubuque, I will only go to them! read more

Flowers were not delivered with no attempt to contact until 2 days after the delivery date. Finally someone called to give a solution which was 10% off and some chocolates. Obviously, flower companies are meant for occasions. The occasion was missed, the service we paid for was not completed. After attempting to reason with the people on the phone, they became offensive and pushed to make it feel like I was in the wrong for their failure. Ultimately they did refund the purchase with no flowers. Ultimately I would not recommend butts florist if you are looking for an on time flower delivery or genuine customer service. Edit: I really appreciate sending the flowers in the end. Unfortunately it took multiple phone calls and leaving this review to get to that point and disrespect from your employees. I did check my phone history multiple times and confirmed that I did not receive a call. However with an out of state number, it is possible it was mistyped by the delivery service. I hate to speak poorly about a family-run business; however, this shop treated my elderly grandma with such disrespect after getting her order incorrect. She called to order a large, custom bouquet, and received the completely wrong order (significantly cheaper than her original order). When she called to remedy the situation, the worker yelled at her over the phone, refused to fix her order, and refused to provide a proper refund. I am disgusted that this store would take advantage of an elderly person that way. read more

I ordered flowers for my friend through FTD. I chose the "Exquisite" size, which is the top tier for this arrangement. I was disappointed to see that they were skimpy on the flowers. There were only 4 roses in the entire bouquet. I also understand that sometimes the flowers can't 100% match because it depends on what they have in store that day, but this didn't even match the size of the picture online, let alone a price tag of $140.00 before tax and shipping. I am so happy with Butts Florist. I live in Las Vegas and wanted to deliver some flowers to my aunt and uncle in Iowa. I ordered through a third party site that handed off my delivery to Butts florist causing a mixup that I was not happy with. In other words, Blossom Flower Delivery connected me with a local florist (Butts) and through the mediation process scammed me and the florist out of money pretending to be local florists. They were dishonest to everyone involved. I called Butts directly and they did everything to make it right. Absolutely amazing upstanding company. I do recommend never going through a third party site and going directly to the florist. Often, the third party site wants you to think they are the local florist and up charge you for delivery, tip and handling when they aren't even doing the work. In addition, they relay a cheaper bouquet for the local florist to make without being fully honest about what was actually purchased on the third party site. Blossom Flower Delivery is an example of a scam like this and there are many out there. I can only assume Butts has any bad reviews at all because of these con artists. Butts has been around for a very long time. So do your research and make sure the flower company is actually local. Growing up in Dubuque, I knew Butts to be the nicest florist in town--very swank. It's where you bought flowers if you wanted to show the recipient that you really, really cared. Imagine my disillusionment when my 93yo grandmother told me that the flowers I sent her from her birthday were so bad she had to call to have them replaced. I paid for the biggest of the three sizes of bouquet, as well as included Trappist chocolates and balloons. I made a note that this was a birthday gift for my grandmother and that it was important to me that they offer to help her carry the large bouquet inside. I'll never buy from Butts again, and I'll tell any/all friends to think twice before hiring them for floral work. read more

They were open late and I was able to get a nice gift for my friend when I was in town. It was not overly fancy or nice, and I think the entire space is somewhat cluttered and tired. But the plant was well received and the location was really accessible. Some of the items I looked at were overpriced so I would not order through an online service. I spent over $90, then paid a delivery fee, so total was over $100, was assured they would send a beautiful arrangement. I saw the pink arrangement the day it was delivered and it looked like something I could have arranged myself. Just a bunch a pink flowers, maybe 4 roses, a bunch of mini carnations, very little greenery. All cut the same length, dropped in a glass cylinder vase. Very disappointed. And although my up-front honesty seemed to somewhat startle the poor woman behind the counter, she recovered quickly and assisted me and my siblings with building some seriously fantastic arrangements. Even with such vague instructions as, "I want some of this kind, and this kind, and that kind... mix it with some other stuff... how much would that cost on the small vs. big side of things?" Bang, I had a price range. No need to stress about my utter failings in botanical knowledge. Butt's is a small shop that does big business, and after my experience, it's easy to see why. read more

I ordered my mother a plant and small bouquet to have delivered for her birthday. When I received the picture from her I was disappointed in what she received for the price I paid. It was a heart ivy so probably left over Valentine's and not what we talked about on the phone. I let all that go but since the following brought me here to review I'm mentioning. My mother just took the plant in because it's dead pretty much. The owner (Brian I believe), told her if she would've taken it back 3-7 days from getting it, they would guarantee it. So basically she would have had to get an already pretty much dead plant?? He was veryrude and unwilling to provide any solution. I will never be ordering from here again. read more

I ordered off of their website the creative cornucopia arrangement for Thanksgiving. The recipient didn't receive anything even close to that. If I had wanted a vase of flowers, I would have ordered a vase of flowers. After calling to complain, he said he was too busy to update the website with what they have available or even take the time to call me with a heads up of the change in my order. I understand the flowers may be changed out due to availability, but to change the entire arrangement display completely at least warranted a call to the buyer to warn them or give them the option of making new choices(especially at those prices). They didn't have time to call me to notify me of the change but he now has the time to go pick it up and change it out??? Will not be giving this place my business in the future. I gave them 2 stars since the new arrangement was nice, but not at all what I wanted. read more

Excellent florist, with attention to detail. I spoke with Cindy at Butt's florist and asked her to come up with an arrangement for my wife - and have it delivered. She came up with a very pretty arrangement - Wife loved it and it was delivered in an hour or so! When the delivery guy got to the house no one was there so the florists shop called me in Connecticut to find out what I'd like to do. They gave me several options - neighbors, sheltered area on the porch etc. Cindy even mentioned that the weather was good in Dubuque and the flowers could be left on the porch without it being a problem - and that is what I call attention to detail! Excellent! This Florist has certificates on a whole wall of being voted the "Best Florist" by Best Fest in Dubuque. They did a wonderful job with my desire for funeral flowers of reds and whites with different textures. We went with Lilies and Red Carnations with purple statice. They were also able to get a hold of red (not orange) gladiolis, of course out-of-season. There was a large selection of vases to choose from. The price was really reasonable.
