My husband and I booked the candle making workshop on a Saturday afternoon around 11. It was absolutely fantastic! The owner, Bri, was so incredibly friendly and helpful. We really appreciated that she thoroughly explained the process, but made it relaxing and let us work at our own pace! When you are making your candles you can choose from a variety of scents. You are then instructed to make 3 different scent options. Your nose will tell you which one you like best! She was then so helpful to get the wax melted for us and we poured our own candles. It takes about an hour for them to set once poured. However, Bri, was more than ok with us continuing to walk around Main st while the candles set. One tip we thought was awesome was, she held onto our "scent recipes" and once our creations burn out we can always reach back out to have more of our scent creations created. This was my second time doing the candle workshop (I did candle and perfume last time)! I met a couple of my friends, from Kentucky, here so we could have a bit of fun and still be able to chat it up. It was only us so that made it even more fun. Eric was so knowledgeable, helpful and patient in helping us create the perfect candle scent, the French way. Be aware that candies need some setting up time before taking them home. I recommend starting your Galena trip here and then go have lunch and/or a stroll in the city before returning to pick up the lovely packaged candle and/or perfume! I really enjoyed hearing the French music in the background as it helped create the perfect atmosphere. What a perfect addition to Galena!! I have had scent making on my bucket list for years and finally got to do this and couldn't have loved it more. We checked in about 15 minutes early and confirmed that we would have our own section in the back for 3 of us. We brought in beverages from the shop next door and got to work on our candles first. They are following COVID procedures, but because we were in our own isolated section, we were allowed to de-mask to smell the scents and drink our beverages. First we smelled a variety of scents and wrote down the ones we liked. Then we paused to think about what sort of feelings the scent should invoke. Based on the chosen feelings, we picked a our scents. Each one was typically made up of a base, middle, and top with different ratios of each The perfume making was similar to the candle, we picked our scents, and customized how much of each one we wanted to blend to produce our own customized scent. I learned so much with this workshop and can't wait to come back. It was very organized and interactive. The inside is warm and inviting, as is the staff. Last note, this was super fun for my husband, sister in law, and me. We all want to go back and do it again, so fellas, there's plenty there for you to enjoy. Walked into a smorgasbord of scents and aromas. We did not participate in a workshop, but did purchase a few items. The store owner was originally from northwest suburbs of Chicago and moved to Galena and opened this wonderful shop. The scents are so refreshing and light. Perfect activity for a rainy day or ANY day! Brianne is extremely personable, knowledgeable about her craft and FUN! She walks you through the experience to create something meaningful for you. So much more meaningful to make a candle that reflects your personal tastes than buy one that is the closest smell to what you like. Awesome experience. We were told we could bring our own beverages. My kids (6 and 8) went today for our first time. At first I thought this was too "adult" like for that age group but the staff were so kind to me and my family. Perfume and candles for four people was around 130$ total. The staff took time to teach my kids how to make stuff and they adored it. I strongly advise anyone kids or no kids to come here. This was such a fun outing with my teen daughter! We each made a candle, and enjoyed the process of learning all about creating scents and experimenting with combining different fragrance oils. The person who led our workshop was friendly and knowledgeable. We love our candles, and they are a special reminder of our weekend together. We had such a great time at the Scent Workshop! The owner is very knowledgeable and really helps you find your favorite combination of scents. We ended up making 4 candles and three colognes for the two of us and it was MUCH cheaper than going to Target for the same amount. Plus they are custom-made based on exactly what scents we loved. We brought a bottle of bubbly (and finished it!) and I can't recommend that enough! Make sure to bring a couple cups because of COVID. Store policies to keep you and staff safe are great.
