This site offers astounding views of the Hudson River and Westchester County from Yonkers to Tarrytown at the Tappan Zee Bridge. The lookout itself is open year-round, from dawn to dusk. Metered parking is in effect at $2.50 per hour on weekends. One could pay at the destinated pay station or parking app. It offers birdwatchers plenty to look at; in particular, the fall months offer a chance to spot hawks and provide access to some of the best hiking, which is where my partner and I came on this beautiful Saturday afternoon. Following the North to Shore Trail, we hiked for about a mile north before ending at the New York border with the NJ boundary stone marker. On our return heading back to the parking lot, we followed trail E, ending up on Old Route 9W. This truly offers an escape from the hectic city life as one hears birds chirping, which we can recommend.

They have lifeguards which make it very safe. Plenty of parking which you pay $10 cash for. Entrance to the pool is $5 a person cash or card. Things to note-you can bring blankets, towels, clothes, beach chairs and medications inside the pool area. My son uses an EpiPen and asthma meds and they were allowed in. You cannot bring any food or drinks besides water bottles. You can bring a cooler but no ice. Any other food can be left in the car. I also saw you cannot bring certain goggles for the pool. I will say, they have really improved their menu this year! The chicken tenders and fries were better this year. They added funnel cake and dipping dots, and even have the icy dipping dots which is great for my son who is allergic To dairy. They sell chips and soda bottles, no fountain drinks anymore. You can ask for cups with ice for $1 more. The garlic parm sauce i got for my chicken tenders was sooo good! We spent about $100 on a bunch of food here for 4 but it was well Worth it. The parking lot is big and there is a bathroom, which is appreciated. I took a look at the trail map before I left to find one of a decent length, so check out options, but the trails are well-marked. Once you get past the main train next to the lake, you can find yourself pretty alone except for another occasional hiker, but you can vibe with nature, see a waterfall, and just breathe in the fresh air. Some of the trails are long, but I paced one that was only a couple of miles and still got some nice scenery and a lot of steps in. It's great this park isn't too far from the urban areas of Northern NJ and there are many trail options so you can visit again and experience something new. There's also a sign for trout fishing if that's your thing. Check it out if you want to get away for the day.

There's a large parking area with lots of parking space which is a convenient. When you come into the reserve it's off of the highway. The an entrance which is one way in and then the exit on the opposite end of the lot which is one way out. The only drawback from me was that there were a number of people in the park with their dogs unleashed and the dog should be leashed . Which makes it difficult and unnerving for a runner to see a dog come out and not see the owner close by.

A lovely walk for a nice day…read more.. I've known of the pier for the last few years, but it wasn't until recently that I made the trip there. I went earlier on a Sunday early afternoon and the town was already busy. Lots of people enoying some outdoor dining. There is also a Green Market there on select weekend mornings which seemed nice. There are a few areas to park, but the regulation sigsn threw me off...I ended up parking in a lot marked Parking Lot D where there were no signs. You can use the address of "100 Gair Street" if you plan on visiting via GPS. I also noticed people parking and headed toward the pier, which was when I fingured parking there would be safe. I believe there are a few spots closer to the Pier path but those were marked "Reserved" From parking lot D to the tip of the pier is about a mile, so be sure to have comfortable shoes on. The first half of the walk is a wide paved path through tall grass on the right and apartments/housing to the left. The second half offers some lovely views of the Hudson river and Tappan Zee bridge. The paved pier was large but no fisherman there that day. A lot of people walking, jogging, runnng and biking though...the 2-mile trek (back and forth) is perfect for all of these activities. There are lots of benches all along the path to sit, relax and take in the views. There is a building toward the end of the pier, which looks sort of like a museum with information on the outside walls, but the doors were closed at the time. Overall it was a lovely visit. A half day may include visiting the green market, visiting the pier and maybe even grabbing a bite in town.

Yes it's just a state park but it has some nice walking trails and beautiful views . The bridge over the dam reminded me of the rainbow bridge over the Niagara river. They have paid parking for 10 bucks although today to my delight was free the booth wasn't open to pay lucky me . I parked easily I guess during October it's off peak season. My advice park at the bottom walk up to the top and then walk back down . Spend two hours or more enjoy take photos enjoy the sun and be one with nature .
