This is easily the worst dog park in Passaic County, entirely due to the ground surface. Who came up with this idea? It's a nice park. It's conveniently located. It has tremendous potential! There are nice facilities, umbrellas for sun shelter, a doggie water fountain, etc. But the dogs just cannot run around comfortably on gravel. This is just parks planning gone wrong, likely conceived by someone who doesn't have dogs.

The brightly colored slides, tunnels, swings can be seen from Black Oak Ridge Rd. so it's hard to avoid when cruising the nighborhood -- I speak from experience! :-P There's a couple different structures -- one for smaller kids (1-3yo, I think) and one for older/bigger kids. My son has a blast climbing up the tunnels and down the slides every time we visit this playground. Note: the parking lot is a good size... but fills up quickly as it shares the lot w/ the dog park... and there's really no street parking along the park as it's a pretty active intersection.

It's a beautiful park that is very well kept. The staff keeps it very clean and well maintained. The bathrooms are pretty clean, the staff friendly and it is dog friendly. It also has the Arboretum connected to it. It is a nice hidden treasure of the Campbell Hall and Montgomery area.

Everyone seems to be really responsible here with their dog which is a major benefit. Second, there are two ways in from the parking lot. To the right is the more immediate route. To the left is a lengthy--and beautiful hiking trail. It's at least a mile long, with hills, and has a deteriorating exercise path. This leads out into a pasture with paved walk ways. There are not a lot of signs, so just stick to the right and just when you think you will never find it, you will eventually reach the dog park. The park itself is a huge swath of grass surrounded by a fence, which thrilled both my pups. There's not a lot of tree cover, nor is there available water, which was a downer. As we took the trail to get there on a hot summer day, they only had so much energy left to run around, especially after we ran out of water. Still, the park entrance is closer than we realized from the other side, and there are bathrooms, and thus, a sink with water available if you need it. If we are ever out that way again, we'll visit.

Since this run is off the beaten path from the rest of the park, many people have their dogs off leash on these paths, which the park doesn't allow. From parking lot it is about a 1/4 mile walk up a trail to this dog run. Add water, more seating and shade and this is possibly a 3 star run. There is a well with water and a dog pool, a pavilion for shade for the parents but also several chairs to sit around. Lots of toys and skill building fixtures. Our Harry absolutely loves it here and dogs are friendly as well as the parents. In the hotter months there is a stream/brook that runs parallel with a gate to access if your dog is ok to take a dip(water depth is shallow). Have fun if you explore it!
